They're going to do a sepsis workup on A to rule out infection. Additional blood work and a lumbar puncture. Excuse me while I go sob They're going to start him on antibiotics as a prevention until they rule some stuff out. Oh no. Poor guy, what makes them think he might have developed an infection? I guess his low temperatures and all of a sudden not eating much. He has also been a bit more lethargic. They're hopeful that he just all of a sudden realized he's a preemie and he's been using too much energy to eat and keep warm. Lumbar puncture is done. IV and urinary cath coming up soon. They'll probably put his feeding tube back in as well today. Poor guy!

Just dropping in to say congrats cagoldi!!! Thanks so much, how's everything going with all your little ones? Going pretty good! Thomas is almost 6 months old now. Can you believe it?! But, the big kids are so good with having a baby around. Being a big sister is the best thing to ever happen to Evie. She takes such good care of him. I hope your two are like that with P, too! It’s the sweetest thing to see. I’ve been so busy. My husband is working all the time so I never get to check in. But today I have the day off, so I opened the app and saw you delivered! Such a happy day for you. ❤️

Thanks to everyone who checked in on Bs surgery today!
We are home and he just went down for his nap. It was a bit rough in recovery- he was croupy and wouldn’t stop screaming and crying which obviously didn’t help. They gave him a few breathing treatments and made us stay an extra hour but now he’s great. He is eating fine and seems a little drunk but himself.

Remember when the post office was like, on the verge of impending collapse because nobody mails stuff anymore? Now everyone and their grandma uses Amazon for everything and I feel like they're practically single-handedly keeping the USPS in business? That was part of his rant too--that Amazon is killing USPS. Um, nope. The opposite actually. Maybe killing them by over working them lol.

Also the dr said B was one of his top 3 patients. He said his ears were so clogged he couldn’t believe he wasn’t just screaming in pain all the time. He also said his opening was so small that he thinks the tubes will close up and we’ll have to do it again. But He believes he’ll be speaking in no time!

Most of you know how my dad is- he voted for Trump and agrees with just about everything that the man says..
But I want to tell you all how proud I am of him. We hired a new driver, he's 32 and moved here from Zimbabwe when he was 13. He just became a citizen this time last year. I literally held my breath as he told my dad he was Muslim and had to take time every Friday to pray. But he didn't react at all. He's concerned but says he has a great feeling about him and wants to help him. The company he's currently working for works him 12 hours a day, 5 days a week and he's bringing home practically nothing. So we're fronting him all the start up money he needs. Right around $4,000. His wife is newly pregnant and dad really wants to help them get on their feet.
I know this is like basic human decency for most and he would do this for anyone born here, but for him to over look his own prejudice and genuinely want to help this young family- I'm so proud.
PDQ I'll poof details later

Totally anecdotal but Chases's were terrible too. Total glue ear and the doctor was pretty openly cynical that this would be a 1 shot deal. A year later and his tubes are still in place, he's talking all the time, and he even got through the flu without any EIs. So who knows? Hopefully B will be a special case as well!!

That makes me smile, peachsmama. Sometimes all it takes to start breaking down prejudice is to actually get to know someone as an actual human being rather than a stereotype or some unknown "other". I hope for the best!!

Hi! You girls have been chatty today. I found out the new job I have will stop come July. The whole team is being dissolved and the system will be dissolved into extra services within existing schools. I know it’s not the end of the world, but after six years of applying for jobs and finally getting a break I’m really sad this has to end so fast.

I don't think Dude's were quite that bad, because his hearing was never impacted, but the ENT said his ears and sinuses were full of pus and blood and couldn't believe he wasn't even more grouchy than he already was. But he's only ever had one EI since. FX that's the case for B, too. Poor guy. It's terrible to think how much they've been suffering all that time.

Nice like leather, or just anything? Closed toe? Open toe? Tell me what you’re looking for? At this point I'll take anything. Lol. probably closed toe though, unless they're just really adorable. Keens are great for chubby toddler feet. Stride rite has these sandals that are kind of a cross between keens and crocs.

Dressy cute like fisherman sandals or casual like flip-flops? We have Crocs (not exactly cute, but okay on kids), and a bunch of pairs of Carter's flip-flops (with a heel strap in the back). I looked at some today but I don't think he'd keep those on. I checked out see kai run and I found these: I know they have the regular fisherman sandals, too. I've just never paid attention to what the boys are wearing. S had the girl version of these last year and I really liked them.

Visiting the bunny went really well actually! S cried when I put her on his lap, but was fine when we let her sit next to him on the bench instead and hold a stuffed bunny. I didn’t get the digital pic because I wasn’t about to spend $30. The hard copy is under a heavy book flattening out and I will take a pic and share later.

tgrimes I've had Keen and Kamik sandlas for B and they always seem way to stiff, making them hard to put on/off and leaves marks on his feet. This year I'm trying these, Nike Sunray, they seem softer. i'm taking him to the store this weekend to hopefully get a pair.

That’s great to hear joelies! And that’s the thing cagoldi. I know you said A was a tough baby/toddler, so it makes sense that he’s ears were so messed up, like of course he was difficult, he was in pain! But B is one of the most chill kids - as long as he’s fed he’s pretty happy. You’d never know he was in pain!! Breaks my heart to think that he was probably always hurting

Morning!! I officially handed over my 306 page user guide this morning and I'm super relieved. I can focus on my new role and visiting Calgary in just over a week. Right now the idea of a few nights in a hotel sounds amazing - Chase was screaming for over an hour last night, which he hasn't done lately. I mean he's been noisy this week but not like that. I've had so much coffee and caffeine this morning... In other news, daycare is open tomorrow but I have the day off. I should get a pedicure and maybe try to find some non-jeans pants for my visit to Calgary since I don't think they're as casual as us and my remaining dress pants are more than mildly out of style. We're also going to a 40th birthday party this weekend and I have nothing to wear that looks decent yet still allows me to chase after my kids in public. Anyhow Happy Friday!! Calgary, eh?
