I’m trying to be more reasonable this time around. There is an iphone app called BabyName where you and your SO can link your accounts and it shows you names and you swipe left or right if you like it or not and it compiles a list of the names you both liked. I haven't really used it much, but it's a interesting idea. So far I hate most of the names lol. Last time, we both made lists and compared and ended up with a top girl and boy name (we were team green), so we still have a boy name leftover from last time. Since it was so hard to agree the first time, we'll probably use that boy name. Girl names we have a few we liked last time and didn't use, so those are a start. Got a few months before we'll find out the sex and actually consider names for real.

When is your due date? How far along are you? 9/20, 14w4d
How big is baby? Lemon/Beet/8oz Fliet Mignon
Team Pink/blue/green/don't know? Finding out
Any Upcoming Appointments? Not until April 12.
Symptoms: Tired. Really worn out some days. And apparently a more sensitive gag reflex the past week. I'm still dealing with mucous from a cold and before I can cough it up and spit it out in the morning I throw up.
Milestones: Nothing really this week. I guess officially 2nd tri by every breakdown now.
Rants/Raves/AW/Questions? Just tired of being tired but I know this won't get any better. I just don't remember feeling so worn out with DS. Hopefully I can keep up at my FSIL's bachelorette party in a few weeks.

I feel like each of you making a list then comparing is the best place to start. Maybe you'll luck out and both have some of the same names. If not, it could be a good starting point for determining a style at least for additional research.

Milestones: I think I might be feeling baby move but it feels way different than with DD. Hopefully soon I will know for sure!

Just got off the phone with my OB office. My NT results came back with a slightly elevated risk of Down syndrome. I’m trying not to freak out because mine is 1 in 200 instead of less than 1 in 270 but it’s not working. On my way to go get blood drawn for Harmony.

Do you all do the NT test? It's not required by the birth center and would just be more out of pocket cost for me. Anyone else opt out? I know I did it with DD but it was covered then.

I did the Harmony/MaterniT/Panorama/whatever it was as an AMA patient. It covers the same conditions, so yes. I did with my other two as well, but it was covered.

Worrying won't help the next week go by faster so I'm just trying to assume all will be ok and not worry too much.

Obviously based on my earlier post, I did do the NT scan. If you're low risk opting in is the only way to get a 1st tri u/s at my practice. Since I didn't want to wait until the a/s to see baby I opted in for both my last pregnancy and this one. With DS it was covered by insurance except a copay. This time I'm going to hit my deductible no matter what this year so in the end there was no cost difference to me.

I've opted out of all genetic screenings (including the NT test) with both of my pregnancies. The screenings would be at least partially covered by my insurance, and I'm AMA this time, but I've still chosen not to do them.

Nymeria I wanted to understand the numbers a little better before commenting further. 1 in 200 is 0.5% chance... Those are very, very low odds! (1 in 270 is 0.37%. Very nearly 0.4%!) So the difference between the two "risk categories" is SO miniscule. I hear so many stories of these tests freaking parents out with their results. FWIW my sister had a genetic screening result that put her in a higher risk category (I believe it was a 20-30% chance) that her daughter may have DS. She chose not to do any further testing and baby was born with NO chromosomal abnormalities. Try not to freak out - it's most likely going to be nothing at all 💓 Hugs again 😊

mirabelle, MH and I each made a top 10 list and then ranked each other's list. We then took the top 5 of each list and mulled over it for a while. I don't remember if the name we settled on for DS2 was on either list, but the list making helped us to to fight as much Congrats on team blue! Nymeria, (((hugs))) hopefully the next tests have good results that bring you peace. pixiepink24, good luck at your appointment tomorrow I've opted out of the NT test each time (but this time around, I believe the MFM took some measurements related to what they look for, since I had an u/s around the time the NT test would take place.)

When is your due date? How far along are you? Sept 10/ 16w
How big is baby? About the size of a can of pop
Team Pink/blue/green/don't know? Team Green
Any Upcoming Appointments? See the OB for a cerclage follow up and the MW tomorrow (separate appointments; I'm going to have to get better at scheduling them on different days/during different weeks!)
Symptoms: Queasiness and a bit of vomiting in the am due to excess mucous (even though I don't even have a cold 😢), sore boobs at times, super active gag reflex, and some nausea during the day.
Milestones:
Rants/Raves/AW/Questions? Ran out of my medication for morning sickness this weekend, and I was doing pretty okay until this evening without them. The nausea has started to return, but not as bad, so I think I will try and push through without it.
Just this last week I've missed not being able to have sex. The last time it happened was the night before I took the pregnancy test and it won't be happening again until the stitch comes out, so approximately 21 weeks to go.

pixiepink24 I opted out when I was pregnant with DD because I was afraid of getting a false positive and freaking myself out over nothing. This time, 2 years and a loss later, I decided to do it, partly because I wanted the ultrasound and partly because my attitude has shifted and now I want ALL the information. Think about what you’ll do if it does come back with and increased risk. Would you consent to more testing? Do nothing? Wait and see? There’s no wrong answer. If cost is a factor I think it’s okay to let that play into your desicion too. I’ll be back to do my check in later, just wanted to share my perspective on this because I changed my mind between pregnancies.

I'm not as anxious today as I was yesterday and it's stats and anecdotes like this that are helping. It's certainly making me realize why people opt-out of this scan in the first place!

I did not do the NT or genetic testing last time, and will opt out again this time. I decided that I would not want to do a CV or Amnio if there were questionable results due to the miscarriage risk, and that any physical issues would show up on the Anatomy scan at 20 weeks. also I have a high deductible plan and would basically be paying out of pocket for it. For lots of people it is comforting to do the test, I feel like it would be more stressful for me to do it and have a possible result and then have to deal with the additional testing and uncertainty. Maybe it's naiive, but it is the best decision for us.
