Nothing sounds good except fast food. Basically if I have to cook it I don’t want it.

Oh my gosh. Do not wear nipple shells out of the house if you are prone to leaking. I just poured so much milk on myself in a public bathroom because I did not realize how much the stupid shell had filled up. Luckily I had already planned on swapping them out for pads because they were getting uncomfortable and I had my shirt pulled up when I leaned forward. So it really just soaked my bra. SO MUCH MILK. Can you get those milk savers you stick in your bra? I’ve heard they’re pretty comfortable and it would be nice to save a few ounces here and there! I was actually just thinking about other options. I guess I didn't realize how much I was actually leaking just being out and about! I did just tell DH I was more disappointed that I didn't get to save the milk than I was about pouring it all over my shirt 😂😂 I got one of those haaka breast pump things and got 2 ounces just with that out of my right while I was nursing on my left yesterday. I was amazed. My right side is ridiculously leaky.

polson that is great news. Sorry for the stress it caused. cp3 DS2 also seems to have a lot of gas at night, which has made sleeping difficult. Once he gets over it we get a couple 3ish hour stretches. This is how the past two nights were. She was super fussy for an hour or two and then was able to sleep once she settled.

cp3 woodenshoes I think we’re in the same boat with L. We’re having a super hard time getting him to sleep at night. He’ll sleep pretty good in our arms, but when we put him down in the bassinet, he gets super fidgety and grunty and wakes himself up. I don’t know if it’s gas or what. He almost always pees when he wakes himself up so then we have to change his diaper (bc he is not okay with even a little bit wet diaper. Is that normal? I thought diapers were supposed to absorb so they don’t feel wet?) and then he’s even more awake. It’s a vicious cycle and there were many tears shed last night. Hoping your LOs can get rid of the gas and sleep well tonight!

So it's my due date! We went to the midwife today and everything looks good.
We'll have an NST on friday next week, if we make it that far, and every 3 days after that. Induction date would be April 4th and I'd like to avoid it at all costs so I'm doing all the things.

clementine i would try a different diaper. Some babies are just pissed about pee though. Is he swaddled at night? Maybe try a different kind - DD would hulk out of anything without Velcro.

I've decided I'm putting my work shifts up for grabs in the sub book starting the week after next. I am done. So tired and do not need to be dealing with this.

I think my milksaver says that you are supposed to store your milk immediately, iirc, so maybe it's only supposed to be used for when you're already BFing? I figured it out after leaving it on for an hour and a half, though, so what do I know? 😂😂 Non refrigerated BM lasts 8 hours, so I figure as long as you're storing by then, you're probably fine? I do really like the thing.

How much do you feed a 5 day old? We want to let MrRama get a chance to feed Lyra, so when I have appointments or errands, he can feed her my pumped milk if she needs feeding while I'm out.

clementine we aren’t dealing with the pee issue, but almost every night my L has a huge spit up. As in drenches his clothes. Sometimes it wakes him up and other times it doesn’t. I hope your L sleeps better tonight.

There’s a lot of variation at that age and a lot of LCs recommend waiting a few weeks before bottle feeding to establish supply and the BF relationship. But they also say no pacifiers and i definitelyoffer those from the get-go. I would offer whatever the equivalent of what she’s consuming - but store milk in 2oz baggies. For example, if she usually drains one boob and tops off from the other, offer whatever you can pump from one side and then see how she’s doing before offering more. Most BF babies never take more than 4-5oz (maybe 6 during a growth spurt:after a long nap) per feed - ever.

I've been overproducing like a mofo (7oz total in 6 minutes, just to ease the engorgement -- still can give her a full feed afterwards, usually on one side) and I don't want to give her too much (because if she starts expecting that, then the overproducing will probably get worse as she tries to get more out of me?), but I also don't want to have to keep feeding her every 15 minutes because she didn't get enough in the one feed. So, 2oz is probably a good place to start? And then if she still seems hungry, we plan on having her top off on the breast if I'm home. Just increase by half oz or an oz until we get the sweet spot?

We’ve been using pampers swaddlers so maybe we’ll try something else. He’s swaddled in a sleep sack swaddle. We’ve tried both arms in, one arm in, and both arms out. I haven’t noticed a huge difference either way.

BF babies self regulate so you can’t really over do it - no worries there! DD was very very consistently at 4oz from when we introduced bottles at 4-6 weeks until she weaned at 15 months. (We dropped the bottle around 10mos). I found that pumping first thing in the morning starting around 2 weeks i think(?)- was best - it established a slightly higher supply than needed so I always had a good freezer stash and it kind of gave a nice “zero” to start with for the day. I would reach out to an LC about handling engorgement. You don’t want to keep pumping too much bc that will trigger your supply to stay so high and you also don’t want your DD to get an imbalance of fore- and hindmilk.

The pumping we're doing is actually at the recommendation of lactation! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Just gotta make sure I only pump enough out to reduce the pressure and not actually drain the breast. I kinda do it by touch? Like, once I can actually feel a bit of give, I stop so that there's still some milk left for her to pull out on her own. Tell me more about fore-/hindmilk! I hadn't heard about this, so I didn't ask the LC about it. Typically I pump about 30+ minutes before feeding Lyra, not after, should I be doing something different?

Rama yay for having a great LC! Here’s more on the different milk types: kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/basics/foremilk-hindmilk/ Sometimes the color of their poop can indicate if there’s an imbalance in their diet. This is why I always mix all my pumped milk up at the end of the day before bagging for the freezer or portioning out for the next day. Hopefully your supply evens out quickly! I also would hop in the shower and hand express for a bit sometimes just to take the edge off. Also PSA: learning to hand express can be a life saver!!!!

DD had pictures taken today at preschool. One of the pictures she was wearing a little graduation cap and gown. Um...I may have cried when I saw the proofs. Now I guess I need to buy all the pictures.

I am hurting today. I was feeling pretty good yesterday and I guess I overdid it by straightening up the house a little after being out for the baby's appt. I forget I need to give my body time to heal even though I feel good.

We stopped by a store to pick up a few things after Lyra's ped appointment and holy crow did I have regrets. How does 30 minutes of languid walking feel like I ran a triathlon?

I’m on my first overnight with both kids while H is at work. I just put G into his room and A starts crying. Of course G starts crying and calling “mommy” because.... why wouldn’t he?
Send wine.

It's hard juggling 2+ little ones alone, especially at bed time. It does get easier though. Hope you can get them both to sleep and that you'll get a bit of a break.

Well it’s 11:30 and A is almost asleep again.... it took G a while to get there too. Crying and saying “mommy, come back!” Just breaks my heart. But on the plus side, his behaviour after H left was really good. He didn’t hit A or get upset with anything. Fxd that he doesn’t wake up in the night. Did I just jinx myself?!

What is the easiest way to post pictures on mobile? I usually prefer to get on here with my computer, but I was trying to post some pictures last night and couldn't get them to work. I was thinking it would be easier to figure this now before I have a mob wanting to see baby pictures.
