John Decker: So about those tariffs--we're kind of screwed now. Europe's going to tax the hell out of orange juice.
SHS: He's "negotiating with multiple countries on matters of national security."
K. Very aggressive K.

Looks like Haspel is going to have an uphill climb to get confirmed.
Sarah is both confident and excited.
I am both skeptical and unimpressed.

Can someone fact-check Sarah just there? She says that Feinsteinn came out in support of Haspel? Because I'm pretty sure DiFi vehemently opposed her nomination to be deputy.

there's your call-out for McClatchy, @rocksforludo. Rand Paul should have gotten accurate information before he "peddled it out to the American people."

John Gizzi: Is POTUS getting involved in contested primaries? Bannon and Gorka are making a mess.
SHS: I have read the Hatch Act. I understand the Hatch Act.

Olivier Knox: What's going on with the SK negotiations?
SHS: Nobody tells me anything but we're super jazzed to meet with them.
OK: Is the WH asking congress to hold off on any further NK sanctions?
SHS: Maximum pressure campaign!

Why does POTUS still need change in his cabinet/advisors?
SHS: Sometimes when policy priorities change, so does the personnel.

Wut.

His little quip about the chair is asinine. The alternative to Ikea is not the oldest chair at Sotheby's.

Her argument that personnel changes happen, especially as policy priorities evolve and shift, is not inaccurate. It's just that Trump has no long-term agenda and no map for how to use his time as POTUS. He bounces from one thing to the next, aimlessly, and is also forced to respond to crises he creates himself (e.g. DACA). On top of that, he's so freakin mercurial that he has scads of personnel changes that never would have ever happened in any other administration (e.g. the NSA Director resigning in disgrace after 21 days).

In all the fuckery of this adminstration, Flynn still blows my mind. I know he was fired by the "evil Muslim dictator" and the warnings about him came from him, too, but how did no one with influence over 45 not see a need to stop that mess from even happening in the first place? How are they all the goddamned fucking stupid?

How are they all the goddamned fucking stupid? Because it was more important to Kush to get Chris Christie off the transition team because he put his dad in jail. And then Flynn worked his way in the resulting chaos after Flynn and Bannon threw the transition personnel binders in the trash. It's not just that they're stupid. It's also that they will always put their personal interests first.

I saw something really interesting today about how the Olympics were held in Berlin in 1936 and it created incredibly high levels of good will towards Germany/The Nazis/Hitler... just to have things quickly devolve into a nightmare. It was conflating that with the Olympics just being held in SK and all of the positive press towards NK joining the SKs and how it is all a very dangerous lie. qz.com/1230045/hitler-and-the-nazis-used-the-olympics-as-propaganda-like-north-korea-russia-qatar/

Here's a disturbing thread. I haven’t read the thread yet, but yup. There is a huge mess at my all girls high school right now that goes all the way back to when I was a student 20 years ago and my Spanish teacher. He was the coach of our soccer team and Athletic director and coached some future Olympic athletes while I was there. I never heard anything while I was there but now I’m sickened by what I have read is reported to have occurred and covered up by the administration. It’s the same administration in place and there have been even more cases over the last 20 years that they have not investigated thoroughly.
