What is this tummy rub oil, pepperpottsj? It's National Running Day, so I am skipping yoga this afternoon to go for a short run. No bump to speak of.

Normal day over here. In about 12 hours I have my weekly check up with my MFM - hoping for good news regarding my SCH and amniotic membranes (they've been thinning, which puts me at high risk for PPROM).
Doctor visits are the only time I get out of the house, so looking forward to being out and about - even if just for a little while.

Hi ladies!
I have a dr appointment today. Just your standard one. Going to do a little shopping for the baby after, goodby monies!
We went to the first birthing class our hospital has last night. MH had to talk me into going, I wasn't interested, but he learned some things so it's all good. It's at an odd time though. 3 Tuesdays in a row, 6pm-8pm. I'm in bed by 8 most nights. 😆

Is anyone considering not getting an epidural? I'm going with the wait and see approach, but wonder who else is in this crazy boat with me.

Is anyone considering not getting an epidural? I'm going with the wait and see approach, but wonder who else is in this crazy boat with me. That was my approach. But then I couldn't talk, breathe, or think. The contractions were one on top of the other. Thank god I gave up and got it because I had no idea I had another 14 hours ahead of me. But TETO.

I'm definitely not going to be upset if I can't handle it. It truly depends on his position, the length of labor, my mind set, etc. I just wonder how some posters who went without did it.

Why can't I figure out what TETO means? I feel like I knew before. 🤔

Is anyone considering not getting an epidural? I'm going with the wait and see approach, but wonder who else is in this crazy boat with me. My plan, should everything go smoothly, is to go unmedicated, so no planned epidural here. If I end up with insane back labor or another situation where I want it or it would help me progress, I'm open to discussing it with my midwife, husband, and doula. The general gist of our birth "plan" is I want to go unmedicated but the end goal is healthy mom and healthy baby. I would like there to be discussions about any interventions unless it's a medical emergency, of course.

Are you looking into any alternative birthing theories?

Is anyone considering not getting an epidural? I'm going with the wait and see approach, but wonder who else is in this crazy boat with me. Me. Ideally I'd like to go unmedicated. Options here are painmeds through IV, or an epidural (and I think some hospitals also use laughing gas?). I'm allergic to morphine and -like substances (which is what they would give through IV) so for me the only option would be the epidural. Then again, with my heart issues, I may not be able/allowed to go unmedicated (heck I could even end up with a planned c-section, depending on how my heart behaves over these last 2 mo of pregnancy) - but if at all possible I would definitely like to. Another option I want to look into is TENS. A co-worker was really enthusiastic about that when she gave birth a few months ago.

Is anyone considering not getting an epidural? I'm going with the wait and see approach, but wonder who else is in this crazy boat with me. I'm hoping to avoid one this time around. For my delivery with DS, I ended up getting one after having been in labor for 16 hours and knew I'd be too exhausted to push the baby out if I didn't get some relief. (Total labor time with DS ended up being 27 hours). They gave me pitocin around the 15 hour mark, and I swear that drug is the devil - after 1 hour I tapped out. I've heard labor is quicker the second time around, so fingers crossed I can avoid the epidural this time. I don't think you're crazy to try to avoid one 🙂

@easilyunamused I'm planning to give birth at a birth center, so epidurals are off the table (unless I transfer to the hospital). I went for unmedicated in the hospital with DS1 but ended up with an epidural after 17 hours of pitocin and some insane back labor and little progress. It helped me relax enough to finish dilating, so worth it in the end, but definitely not what I had originally hoped for.

Are you looking into any alternative birthing theories? Like what? We took a birth class which focused on unmedicated pain management and my doula gave us a list of pain management/labor techniques which I researched and practiced. Pretty basic stuff like focused breathing. I looked at hyno-birthing but we couldn't commit to the class (it's 12 weeks long). I just read through the general principles. Our doula puts it as having a "toolbox" of ideas to pull from and whatever works in the moment is what you do.

She ended up with back labor, so she got an epi in the end.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes, I see you lurking and love titting babystandish! How are you? Yes, I had my baby! Team green turned to team pink on 5/24 which was one day before my due date. I was pretty shocked because I was fully prepared to go late like DS did. She was also a a little over a lb heavier than DS weighing in at 8 lbs exactly. Things are going well though. Labor and delivery was a lot better this time and baby was out after 9.5 hours of labor and about 5 contractions of pushing. Things are pretty crazy here with adjusting to two kids. H goes back to work next week so I'm kind of scared about that. We had her 2 week check up yesterday. She's almost a lb up from her birth weight and doing really well with eating, pooping, and giving us 2-4 hour stretches at night. Here's a pic from yesterday and one at the hospital. *Poof* Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

She has so much experience and knows we're relying on her to help us try new things when something isn't working. I can't rely on me or H remembering all the options in the heat of the moment, haha!
