I'm pumping. Hoping to discharge today, but my bp has been up. Of course that makes me anxious that something terrible will happen so I'm trying to remind myself that it's common and they aren't super concerned, just want to be sure I have the right meds before discharge!

Exciting, @wine. I hope everything works out for you. Forgive my ignorance on this, but how does this work now you're that you're discharged? Does the nicu have a room for you or do you have to go home at night?

I hope you get to go home today wineallthetime! I had BP issues after S. They discharged me under the condition that I came back into the clinic the next Monday for a BP check. When I did it was sky high and they readmitted me. I wish they would have just dealt with it before the initial discharge.

Good morning! I have to run errands for Charlie's birthday and I'll do my Easter basket shopping. Otherwise, it's packing and takeout tonight.

But since we lived so far away we could have gotten into one of the family rooms at the hospital if available or stayed at the Ronald McDonald House nearby. But they stay pretty full, so we just stayed at my parents since they were close. We didn’t want to take up a room that someone else really needed.

S was in the NICU for two weeks, and it was just a huge room with lots of babies, but the hospital did give us a regular room near it that they slapped a Guest Mom sign on the door.

And were told we were welcome to stay if we wanted but that it was preferable for the parents to go home at night if the baby was doing well.

@wine, that's good! I'm glad you can be so close to him and still try to get a little rest. We need a new picture of your little guy!

Our NICU is all private rooms! It's really nice. That’s great! Ours is half private and half shared. It’s just the luck of the draw what you get. But we were fortunate to have formed a bit of a relationship with the neonatologist prior to having S due to some unique circumstances that she was helping us look into (we were concerned about a possible chemical exposure from the workplace contributing to S’s condition). She was on the floor when the transport team wheeled S in with MH following and said “this ones mine” so we got to go on her side which was the private room side.

I always imagined NICU’s to be a nursery-like setting with all the babies together.

I always imagined NICU’s to be a nursery-like setting with all the babies together. A lot are. They built this hospital around 6 years ago and made all NICU beds private. The other pediatric ICU's are mostly private, but do also have the open bay area with all the beds together.

Good morning. Work was insanely busy yesterday so I never had a chance to log on. We had interviews and I needed to catch up form being away and wrap up loose ends before I’m out next week. It was crazy but I’m in a good place. It also kept me busy enough not to think about surgery on Monday.
Today we have my nieces birthday party at 3. C is being a bit bratty this morning so I’m hoping he takes a good nap and turns it around before then.

I got to the airport wayyyy early because I’m always paranoid about missing a flight. Even though I never have. So now I’ve been sitting here bored out of my mind forever. I’m currently downloading a movie and hoping it finishes before boarding so I have something to watch on the flight.

Re: sunscreen talk form yesterday. C and I both wear spf 100. We are extremely fair and I burn so quick. Luckily he has never burned and I hope to keep it that way. There’s s ton of skin cancer in my family and my dad had melanoma so I’m extra cautious. Dh inherited his dads Portuguese skin and rarely burns. I wish C got that.

If you read I bought Woman in the Window at the airport and finished over half while waiting because it was so good. Made the wait more enjoyable.

Hey. I remember a few weeks ago (or maybe months) you were having a conversation about nail biters. I didn’t pay much attention then because i had no reason to. Well Z is 2 and is a major nail biter. What do i need to buy/do to get her to stop? Were inthekitty and trtlcrzy in the original convo? Can’t remember.
