We have permit parking on our street because of the express bus on the corner. There has been this car parked across the street a bunch but the people in that house are new and I thought it belonged to them. Now that I'm home, I see a lady park and go to the bus stop. I debate going out and nicely pointing out the permit parking signs, calling the police after she leaves, or just ignoring her.

So Jack has his third ear infection in 2 months. And pink eye. My pediatrician doesn't want to do tubes because ear infections normally taper off at this time of year. Would you get a second opinion? I'm waiting for the clinic we always have to take him to after hours and on weekends to send me his records to see how many he's had in a year. The pediatrician is seeing a skewed version of his records because I only take him there about half the time because so many happen after hours. What's your insurance like? Can you just make an appointment for the ENT yourself? I agree with tallb about checking out his hearing. FTR, my ENT said the same thing with M. Her hearing was fine, and the EI always cleared up with antibiotics. So no tubes for her. I'm not sure. I've never had to do anything like that and it just switched in May. I'll call tomorrow and see. His always clear up but like he had one 3 weeks ago, I took him in this past Thursday for a recheck to be sure it was gone and it was. Today they're red and infected. Every single cold he has turns into an ear infection so I feel like his sinus passages just aren't draining as they should.

Also, the mom that I said looked too old to have graduated with me definitely is. My friend who is 6 years older than me said she graduted before her. This woman though didn't just join the graduating class Facebook group, she posts like everyday. I can't figure it out. I think next time I see her, I'm going to play dumb and say say something like I didn't realize we graduated together.

Omg flamingo, I was laughing reading your story! How awkward! Reminds me of pre Evie, H and I lived in an area full of duplexes. We were in a cul de sac and knew our neighbors, but just saying hi or waving. At one point, one of the neighbors daughter's, probably around 5, just started coming over to our house to see our dogs. Like, she walked out of their house, across the cul de sac, up our drive and into our house. It was so weird then. Now that I have Evie, it's even more weird that her dad didn't have an issue with his little daughter just randomly walking into people houses. I occasionally had to take her home, because I didn't have kids, I sure as shit wasn't going to be responsible for someone else's, that I didn't know. Now I wonder how little Piper is doing...

Our neighbors kid parks in front of our house. They have 3 teens living at home and they can't park any cars in front of their house cause of their lot, so it doesn't bother me. We very rarely park in the street anyway.

Sometimes I get nervous not answering the door because there have been stories of people knocking pretending to be offering some sort of service, but really they're scoping out who isn't home so they can break into their house.

wineallthetime in the “I’m having a baby” thread on GD there’s some good jokes. May help you pass the time. I also started reading “the woman in the window” and it’s really good. Let me know if I can Prime it to you. Also are you Netflixing? If so Grace and Frankie is a good semi light one.

I just FaceTimed C. He’s in that sweet sick phase and was so cute kissing the phone and offering me food from the counter. Poor kid. Poor Dh though because he will soon be entering the cranky i feel somewhat better phase. That’s the worst!

Wow, yeah can't imagine letting a kid this age go to a neighbor's who I don't really know to see their dogs. Odd parenting choice, for sure. eta: but then I'm apparently the only one who thought it odd to let a 4 y.o. ride with 2 strange men and no other kids to a pizza parlor, so what do I know? :shruggy guy:

I'd probably see if I could catch her in person or leave a note on the car nicely pointing out she's in a permit area ("you may not have realized...I'd hate to see you get a ticket!" yada yada), and then if she doesn't change her ways call and have her ticketed or towed. You may be nicer than me, though.

wedding poor guy (and poor YH). I know this sounds weird, because of course I always want my kids to be healthy, but sometimes it's a bit of a relief to have a rest when they're sick and either just want to cuddle or just want to sleep phase. Of course when they move to hell beast that's a different story. Cass usually starts out super cranky and annoying and I'm wondering what's wrong with her attitude--then she throws up on me and I put 2 and 2 together.

You may be nicer than me, though. I'm also a rule follower. One person doesn't bother me but that's how it started when we ended up getting permit parking. We can fit 2 cars in front of each house if they are bumper to bumper and it gets tight to get out of the driveways. There were 20-30 cars of commuters every day. There is a paid lot a few blocks away, they just didn't want to pay.

wineallthetime, I third Frankie and Grace and second Queer Eye. I will add The Good Place which is also on Netflix and a delight. If you haven't watched it yet the Great British Baking Show is one of the happiest, most relaxing shows.

Then you realize they were just sick and feel bad being annoyed. Hopefully C is taking good naps and giving Dh a break.

inthekitty and wineallthetime Yes, The Good Place is very light and funny. Also, Fresh Off the Boat cracks us up--as children of the 80s/90s you will see a lot you remember! @wine if you're in the mood to read, LMK...i've done quite a bit lately and could make some recommendations.

I HATE HATE when ppl park allover the street instead of their driveways. It seems to be a very popular thing in this town and so many of our streets are too narrow for cars to be parked on both sides of the street. It pretty much makes all the residential streets into 1-way roads. It’s ridiculous how we all have to wait turns to let cars trying to go in the opposite direction pass.

I have been stalking flights to go home for my sister's shower for weeks now--times were crummy and the prices were even worse. Then today I had the brilliant idea (duh) to check my SkyMiles account. Plenty to use and some new flights had opened up. Just booked a round-trip ticket to FL for $5.60
