Dicks sporting goods is going all in—just announced they’re no longer selling assault style weapons at all, only selling to 21+, and calling on congress to ban assault style weapons.

Evidently the owner had their files searched after the newest shooting to see if the gun had been bought from them (the shooter had bought another gun there, but not what he used), and that evidently really fed into the decision.

The FedEx thing is especially gross, because even if you have strong local laws someone could theoretically just overnight a gun to your home/office/neighborhood. It seems so innocuous, and they are our main shipper at work but f-that, I am not going to use them.
Maybe there could be pressure on colleges/universities in general to boycott fedex (for a commitment to school safety etc).

I was so happy to read that story this morning. I don't shop there often because of prices, but my next set of workout clothes will come from there. I gotta offset the chucklefucks who will no doubt boycott.

And fuck FedEx. I don't really know how to boycott them, other than just not ordering shit from places that uses them to ship. The vast majority of stuff I get comes UPS or USPS.

Guys, dont ever get wine drunk and mistakenly refer to an AR15 as an assault rifle in a comment on your local news SM in a predominantly conservative area. There is not enough time in the day to read the responses correcting you. Its almost like i am a boring civilian with no use for any knowledge of military weapons or something. Sheesh Ooof, sorry.

Huh. He doesn't look crazy tall there. His height must be mostly in his legs. It is. There was a photo he put on Twitter awhile ago that emphasized how long they are.

The Alabama Senate has passed a constitutional amendment to allow the ten commandments in schools and public buildings. They say it'll have to go with "other historical materials." And it still has to pass the house, then be voted on by voters. But still, we don't have the money to pay these legal fees if it somehow passes.

Dick’s is my favorite place to shop for my dad - golfing gear and fishing gear all in the same store. I’m pretty sure it’s also where he buys his ammo for deer hunting. He’s very pro-GVP, so I’ll let him know he should keep shopping there!

I won’t replace every NRA person who stops, but I know I’m not the only one who will. Surveys show the majority of NRA members actually support assault rifle restrictions. It's just the extremists and leadership (and bought politicians) that would lead you to believe it's a radical idea.

Is it not an assault rifle? What's AR stand for? *Googles it* I was just thinking this morning about how many disclaimers I read/hear in the debate: "I'm a gun owner myself" or "I grew up around guns." That's used to give oneself more credibility in the conversation. Why? The fact that I have never held a gun means I can't fear them? Fear for my children or yours? Weigh the legal, policy and political arguments?

I'm convinced at this point that ICE is a corrupt organization filled with white supremacists who are more concerned with their personal white nationalist mission than with actually protecting anyone. They’ve been recruiting hard under Trump. I’ve met a fair number of DHS employees who wouldn’t touch ICE with a 10 ft pole under this administration. I definitely think they are attracting more white nationalists and anti-immigration folks atm.

Yeah, I have learned if I refer to an "AR" as an assault rifle in a discussion with gun owners, I am automatically written off as a Liberal dummy who knows nothing.
Technically though, they are "armalite rifles"

shadesofgold because the argument is always that people are only afraid of guns who don’t use them. Certainly if you had used guns enough you would realize they’re not inherently dangerous. In fact, don’t you know that the real danger from guns is the people who don’t use them?! Obviously BS. But I believe that’s why people feel the need to qualify; because it isn’t only people who aren’t knowledgeable or experienced with guns that think changes need to come. People can own guns themselves and still realize we need change. It’s not all the big bad media hyping up a hatred of guns amongst the clueless who have never even seen one.

LOL Comey: (He says this time there will be a tape - his audio book is almost done) Okay but before we all clamour to give him our money, remember November 2016. This. It makes me feel some sort of way how everyone (i dont mean this group specifically, just in general) seem to forget the fuckery he participated in before the election and are so eager to support him now. Too late to make ammends now, if you ask me (not that anyone did, but wuteva!)
