I feel like I've been so out of the loop this week. I don't like it. But the wheels are moving really fast bc our sellers want to close in 14 days.

Even his own people know he's full of it.
Cohn said he would leave if Trump imposed steel tariffs. Now he says he's going to wait and see if he actually does what he says he will.

Regarding the tarriffs... Trump's own buildings made good use of imported steel and aluminum materials. Ugh. I think the aluminum curtain wall (exterior cladding/windows) at Trump Chicago was for sure fabricated in China. He doesn't give a rat's ass about american men and women.
Regarding a meeting with video game execs, why has no one pointed out to him that these games are played all over the world, and they don't have the same number of mass shootings? I mean, duh.... maybe because guns are not so easily accessible in other countries?
ETA I could actually see the tariffs hurting some construction jobs as developers have to start accommodating an increase in their construction costs/schedule. American-made steel/aluminum will probably not be able to keep up with demand. We're already seeing wait times of 5-6 months for new aluminum windows on big jobs. Is the tariff on raw materials or fabricated construction materials? Maybe Trump hasn't declared yet.
I mean, Trump should understand the repercussions of this in the real estate industry. I think more American materials is a good thing (less distance to ship, more jobs, better quality, good safety standards here, etc.) But, you can't just throw something like this out there into the news without a solid plan, or people go into a tizzy.

So it sounds like the tariffs are for real? WaPo has a lot of alarming headlines this morning. See also, US-Russia relations turn cold as Kremlin loses confidence in DT. Do you think this means their plan to get him elected back fired or is right on target?

Oh FFS: WH says Trump to meet with video game industry next week. ESA says no invitations have been sent. This is so stupid. How long have violent video games been around? I am an avid Tomb Raider fan. I've never had the urge to climb a mountain while shooting people in the face, double pistol style. Anything to avoid the actual problems, tho.

The point is to sow dischord and make America look--and actually be--unstable & ineffectual. This, exactly. I’ve said this before, but it really is the perfect revenge

I am glad so many companies are taking a stand but it angers me that our elected officials cannot do the same. I just read this morning that REI has a hold on future orders with brands like Camelbak and Giro helmets. The parent company also has a gun division but REI feels they are not doing enouvh to avoid mass shpptings. Part of their statement: "This morning we learned that Vista does not plan to make a public statement that outlines a clear plan of action," the company said Thursday. "As a result, we have decided to place a hold on future orders of products that Vista sells through REI while we assess how Vista proceeds."

They also just started carrying Athleta. Maybe I’ll indulge in some fancy activewear from them this month!

Actually it makes more sense, laws will follow the public sentiment. They will start off with little teeth and as it gains traction, they will enhance them and begin penalties. Like speed limits, seat belts, drinking age, etc. In this case, all the corporations saying we aren't going to sell to U21 will make it easier for them to pass that legislation and they can pat themselves on the back and say see what a good job we did. Until 1987/8 it was legal to buy alcohol at 18 in Idaho, we were one of the last states to raise the age and that was only because the Federal Government was going to be withholding money for things like roads. We had one guy in my graduating class who was able to legally purchase beer for the senior kegger, because they grandfathered those that were about to turn 18 in when they raised it. (And he failed his senior year twice, we gave him a standing ovation when he walked the stage. ) So its up to the general public and activists to make the change because lawmakers are slow. ETA: I'm at the very end of Preets pod and they are sort of touching on that same thing.

Internal emails from the Trump admin show oil was critical part of decision to shrink Bears Ears Monument. Is it possible that instead of going into shock, you go into anti-shock?

The head of the Office of Refugee resettlement not only personally reviews every pregnant teen refugee's request for abortion (and turns all of them down) but keeps a spreadsheet of all pregnant teen refugees & their fetus' gestational age. This is not being pro-life. This is literally being pro-forced birth & dictating the health of women who have committed no crimes but are not allowed to make their own health decisions by the government. It's appalling. I am trying to put words to my rage and failing. What.the.fuck.

I'm signed up to attend a MDA meeting in 2 weeks and they just changed locations because they need more space.
I've felt a pull to get involved somehow for a while, now that we're more settled after moving I'm excited to get started
