So the extra indictments scared the shit out of him after all? Mueller is a boss. Or there may have been additional details or charges that were or will be withheld as part of this deal. ETA: this week's tax charges were filed in VA since both are residents of VA. Other charges on the table could have been in DC's jurisdiction where the rest of the charges have been filed and the main investigation is located.

Snopes. Not a direct fact check of this list but comprises some of these. Regardless, this leaves out A LOT of mass shootings, and I think Democrats view the matter that regardless of a person's party affiliation, there should be restrictions on guns so that NO ONE is able to do this. OF FUCKING COURSE IT WAS CLAUDIA TENNEY THAT STUPID BITCH I've been stewing over that bitch all week. Here is info on the Democrat challenging her seat in November. It's not my district, but I'll throw money at him to get her fucking fired. brindisiforcongress.com/meet-anthony

I have some questions about Rick Scott's proposal to bar the "mentally ill" from buying guns because the article does not discuss that. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/florida-gov-rick-scott-moves-bar-people-under-21-mentally-n850606How will they define mentally ill? Will it be reliant upon self-reporting? If the info is going into some kind of database, how will it comply with HIPPA regulations? It's not that I disagree with the idea to make it harder for potentially unstable people to purchase guns, I just feel like this is rhetoric without intent behind it. I know I keep posting about MA laws, but that's all I know. When someone in MA goes to a dealer to buy a gun (only legal way) they fill out a form that asks them this information and the dealer inputs it into a (I believe FBI) database. If it's discovered that the dealer filled out the form wrong (i.e. has misinformation on it) they can go to jail for up to 10 years and/or a $250K fine.

So, does anyone know if the guard guy was a cop stationed at the school, or more of the retired veteran type variety? The SRO in my school, who is an actual police officer, would take that info and meet with the kid, the family, report it elsewhere, etc etc. It would go somewhere. However, that doesn't mean he'd be able to stop a tragedy from occurring. He can't be everywhere at once. Even having the picture from a year ago with a potential threat isn't going to solve that problem. Schools are not meant to be jails. We shouldn't have to be on complete lockdown all the time. It's unrealistic. Now if someone called in a threat that morning and said kid is likely to show up, yea, I think more could've been done, but my understanding is that is not the case. This. I know our SRO well. I know that she would investigate this, but that ultimately there is only so much that she can do. Also, she is not always on campus 100% of the time, and I am not sure what she would do if she were off campus and arrived when an active shooter situation was occurring. I would not expect her to storm into the building alone, with no backup, and with a handgun. I read that article from the doctor about what AR-15s do. She would be useless. I am not sure if this guy was on site then left the building without doing anything, or arrived after the fact, but I have to echo the thoughts that it is just a little too convenient to try to blame one person for "doing nothing."

I know they ran some kind of check on the spot, but it didn't take very long. I'm in MA. Is this a loophole? Do I just not understand the system? Especially just coming home from a place with no carry signs outside a ton of businesses (I was shocked. Who needs a gun at the fucking aquarium anyway that they need such a sign), I appreciate the MA laws and lesser gun culture. But I don't think I'd hold us up as some standard to achieve.

I have had multiple conversations with my students over the years regarding active shooters. We have drills, and I show Bowling for Columbine in my media class to discuss the role that the media plays in violence in America.
My kids tell me they are going to throw desks at the door, that they are going to throw them at the windows to get them open so we can escape, that we are all going to get out alive. I tell them that each and every teacher in this building will do everything we can to protect them and keep them safe.
At the same time, I sit through heartbreaking trainings where our admin makes it clear that everything we do is to reduce the loss of life, and that the loss is inevitable in these situations.
I feel like I am going to have a lot of questions on Monday. Conversations were limited towards the end of last week because I don't think the magnitude had quite hit yet.

Sorry for just busting in here after being gone from this board a while, but I know at least some of you are planning to march March 24th, and my favorite socially aware company is making shirts and offering them more than 50% off their usual price plus donating a portion of the proceeds to local organizing efforts. www.raygunsite.com/

SRO here are all police They all have rifles in their patrol cars. So I’m not aghast at the leaving them there until lockers are obtained. It actually seems more secure because it’s one rifle and if there is theft it’s not a stockpile.
When my eldest was in 8th or 9th. I got a letter from the district there was a boy who had a hit list. By the time they notified parents he had moved out of my district into the neighboring one and they had expelled him. Talk about pissed off parents finding out after the fact. But he got his due process but we were assured sro were aware of what was happening and would have been able to intercept a threat
I’m not sure where I’m going with this other than I know how important it is to have Leo trained personnel on a campus. Not just a security guard. LEO are able to stop and detain and remove a threat more easily than a run of the mill security guard.

I keep waiting for something to get me out of my "I hate everyone and everything" funk, but I just keep spiraling further down. I know a good chunk of that is personal things going on, but ooof. Every single time something "good" happens (Mueller having more indictments, the students not backing down, etc), something shitty follows right on its heels.
Sorry. I know I'm being a downer.

Jared and Ivanka seem like that really boriing yet pretentious couple that you have to invite to functions because they’re related to your boss or something, but you pray you don’t get stuck talking to.

So Kush might really be losing his security clearance. I mean, did they really need to be informed? I knew it was an issue, I'm sure they did. My understanding is the president can choose to share sensitive information anyways. Why do we think they won't just continue to endanger everyone? The president himself is a danger. I guess the political pressure could get to be too much?

Are any of Ivanka's kids in school? Maybe they go back to NY after the school year. However, I could see them bailing once she gets home from the Olympics.

I just cannot get over how nutty conspiracy theories have taken over logic and how many politicians and hell, citizens, choose to believe these cockamamie scenarios over the evidence that is clearly in front of them.
Like Alex Jones is running the GOP now and Pat Robertson is in charge of the executive branch.

I doubt if Ivanka complains to Daddy enough that he wouldn’t undercut Kelly’s decision.

Surprise, surprise.
Rep. Rohrabacher is the unnamed representative in the new Gates and Manafort indictments.

Just cast my early voting ballot!
In TX, you show your ID, tell them your party affiliation, and they print out a little sticker for you to sign, and place it on a page with 10 or so other stickers.
I live in a very red pocket, but every single name above mine had a registered Democrat indicated on their sticker. A glimmer of hope!
