J had peas tonight...not a fan. I think it was the texture. I'm going to try again tomorrow but for now sweet potatoes and avocados are his thing. I did a little cinnamon in the cereal today with your recommendation and I think he liked it! Oh good! J loves cinnamon in his sweet potato apples and we put nutmeg in his pears and he is a fan. I have garlic in some of his peas so we will try that this week

This is probably a stupid question lol but for some reason I thought cinnamon was a big allergy risk or I might be completely making this up 😂

With T I used to sprinkle cinnamon on her oatmeal - I haven’t done it with at yet. But, T loves flavored cinnamon stuff.

They say to start with a little and don’t introduce anything else for a couple days to make sure there isn’t a reaction. I’ve never heard of a cinnamon allergy though.

I just looked it up and yes it’s not typically high allergy risk so I guess I did make that up 😛

Does anyone here do baby-led weaning? M seems to hate purees so much I'm considering trying it but don't really know how to start.

So I tried peas with J and he could take them or leave them. I decided since he didn't love them to add garlic powder just to try a new spice....well with the garlic I couldn't shovel them in fast enough! He loved it.

He said to try soft food like scrambled eggs, cooked pasta either cut very small or slightly mashed, and avocado or banana slightly mashed as first foods . He said the texture is going to be the biggest issue so start very very small

The whole peanut butter thing is so confusing. Some are saying starting early can be better to expose them to it. I’m curious what my pedi will say.

Mine said honey at a year and peanut butter around 8 or 9 months if we want to try it. He said j should like solids and have tried several different types of foods without any reactions before trying peanut butter. Makes sense to me. I hate it so I'm in no hurry to try it with j.

jt2378, the cases of peanut allergies skyrocketed when pedis were telling parents to wait up to 12 months. I’ve already been giving A some in his cereal since he was 6 months and has a low chance of allergies.

I finally got E to take some food today! She ate pureed pumpkin and was looking for more.
From my finger.
A spoon coming at her face is obviously going to poison her. 🙄

My little guy likes everything and all spices so far. I've been doing some puree combos with spices and he loves them. I'm having fun making them! I think I may try and give him some noodles in a week or two and see how that goes

Twins pretty much still want nothing to do with food. It's pretty annoying to go through the trouble of making stuff that isn't getting eaten.

Unfortunately, I have the tiniest of fridges so have no space to freeze. It goes into the fridge overnight and gets tossed out next day :/

What’s the list of acceptable spices to incorporate? happyfeet9 ugh sorry that sounds really frustrating. Honestly I would just buy the Gerber /earths best / whatever in a jar and save yourself the time. Plus it lasts for 2-3 days in the jar. You are busy enough as it is, I’d cry if I had to do that work and throw it away that quickly. Just my thought.

I do try to make different flavors that are not readily jar accessible just to introduce them.

I'm feeding j so I don't have the list handy but I know cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, dill, oregano, pepper, and garlic for sure.
