5 states have applied for waivers to limit Medicaid coverage for childless adults ranging from 2-5 years. This is part of the "flexibility" the Trump administration/the GOP want to give states. ETA: As far as I can tell, there is no indication that there would be exemptions for people with disabilities or with chronic illnesses. Fuck him. This will kill my grandparents. My grandmother has heart issues. My grandfather is type 1 diabetic on multiple meds and two types of insulin. Fuck them all My dad had an almost million dollar year. We moved everything into a medicaid trust for when his money runs out. So far hes been lucky but part of the ACA was eliminating lifetime limits for just that reason. Income restrictions are already INSANE. Like he can not have more than 3k in assests. I had to sell his house because yeah, we'll give you medical coverage but you're gonna have to be homeless.

I received another email about a new survey. This one on immigration. I wish I hadn't filled it out before seeing the limits news. I could have used that anger. Another survey from the asshole in chiefAt least this one seems to have a legit scale when you answer it as opposed to: "You agree with me a lot," "You agree with me even more," "You agree with me so much you think I might be a chip in your head making you think this way." This doesn't leave room for true disagreement though. It's either important or unimportant but leaves no room for the opposite viewpoint. I had a lot of other comments.

The portraits are giving me life and I love hearing the artists describe the symbolism in them. I miss the Obamas so much. It sort of looks like Barack is among the ivy at Wrigley, and he’s a sox fan, so I’m extra in love. And i really love flowers from geographic locations, it’s my thing.

Fahrenthold is chasing down the "donated" Presidential salary. I saw this last week too. I'm glad someone is continuing to follow up on these promises. Though it reminds me did Price ever pay back the $ for the planes?

But there were bombs, drone planes (?) that are utilizing US technology from Iran and Al Bagdaddy (sp) was wounded over the weekend? I only caught a tail end of something

Also not really political but did anyone else read the story about Aetna not actually having doctors review patient charts before approving or denying treatment? So far they are only being investigated in CA but I have this...sneaking suspicion that perhaps the reason I couldn’t get approved for less invasive treatments for my knee was something similar.

Racist Keebler Elf is racist:
Sessions says the office of sheriff is an important part of the Anglo-American heritage of law enforcement.

I saw it in a mom group I am in for babies with food allergies in regards to having medically necessary infant formula benefits denied. I 100% believe widespread negligence will be found. I am not surprised at all.

That's kind of huge that someone was able to get to him.

I have so many feelings/questions about this. On the one hand, I think of all the people living in food deserts who might benefit from having fresh, healthy food delivered to their door. On the other hand, I have about a gazillion questions about how this would be practically applied (do people get to choose the time of their deliveries? what happens if a delivery is mis-delivered? stolen? not refrigerated properly? etc.) Do people get to choose their own foods? Are food allergies & special diets taken into consideration? How will vendors be selected? Will it end up w/ some prison-system vendors, where goods are insanely overpriced and there's no alternatives due to lack of competition? And so on and so forth. I could see ways this could be super useful & helpful. I could also easily see this turning into a paternalistic, overpriced means of policing what poor people eat and people ending up with a crap ton of expensive food they can't/won't eat & losing the funds to buy food they actually can/will eat. I really do not trust Republicans to get this right, either. I'm going to assume that food allergies and intolerances wouldn't be considered without some sort of doctor's note, because that will cost them more. Seems to me they want a standard package to send out that they can keep on the shelf until delivery day.

Jesus. I just...this doctor admits that 1) he never read patient records when denying treatment, relying on nurses who reviewed records & made recommendations, and 2) denied life-saving treatment on an ailment he didn't really know anything about, including whether the treatment was necessary or not to keep the person alive. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE FUCKERS?! I know. And obviously my case wasn’t life threatening but it caused me significant pain. My surgeon’s team was shocked they couldn’t get coverage because I met all criteria for it. I could barely get through one shift per week of work. If I worked full time I’d have lost my job. If my family relied on my salary or I carried our benefits then...we’d have been screwed all sorts of ways. I believe widespread issues will be found. I just don’t know if it will make a difference. Aetna is going to claim this set up is a cost saving measure and will use any changes to it to “justify” a hike in rates I bet.

There was a reason Eddie Murphy joked about government cheese

Also there are ACTUAL STUDIES that have been peer reviewed that show that the majority of SNAP fraud is more committed at the top level and NOT the user level. FFS

There was a reason Eddie Murphy joked about government cheese Even with a doctor's note for food allergies and intolerances, with programs like WIC, they just don't have the stock and will give parents whatever they have on hand, which 99% would make the child sick- like not having hypoallergenic formula and giving them the step down which has casein protein. And the programs just shrug and say they did their best. Same for baby food pouches etc. Your child is allergic to squash, but we only have squash containing pouches? Oh well.

Having had to drink shelf-stable boxed milk for a year, it isn’t awful, but it’s nowhere near as tasty as fresh milk. Shelf stable yogurt doesn’t have the same probiotics as fresh. With limited vendors and likely no sensitivity toward cultural preferences or food allergies/intolerances, I don’t see this going over well.
