I mean if you're wearing a $3k jacket, I think you can afford a tailor. I agree but I also think the coat is not meant to be that tight and fitted. I think it's partially the style.

adelbert, I don't think it necessarily needs to be tight/fitted, but it does need to be the right size, which I don't think it is. Especially if she's going to pair it with wide leg too long trousers.

But seriously guys I find them so endearing for some reason. Like they always look so excited about whatever they're doing. I hope it stays that way.

I agree with books, it looks like the coat is wearing her as a lot of her clothes do. She is very thin, she can't do the big clothes look for the top and bottom. The coat would have been better for skinny pants. It does come off sloppy looking. I hope they figure it out soon because she is gorgeous.

Since the media plays them off each other, I'm adding my own opinion on Kate vs Meghan. I think Kate is pretty with gorgeous hair and killer legs. She is pretty like a doll is pretty. Meghan is beautiful and has sex appeal.

It looks like Meghan only buttoned one button on her coat too, so if she had bothered to button more (like I imagine there is one inside to hold it in place better) and not worn a cross body purse, I think it would look better
The purse is cute and I love the coat, she just looks sloppy yet again

I’m wondering if a lot of her style choices lately come from trying to be the opposite of her suits character. Staying away from skirts and tight clothes, trying to be taken more seriously but failing by looking a bit sloppy.
There has to be a happy medium somewhere.

I also wonder if she’s playing it really safe pre wedding and after they’re married maybe she’ll relax some or get more comfortable with her role. This seems like a big lifestyle change for her. It’s a lot to take on.

Aww I hope not because I feel like you can wear those things and be professional.

Without the jacket, it's a decent outfit. But it really needs hemming. I prefer her in something more structured, but I can see how it might not be her preference:

I think maybe she’s just trying to be completely different than the character and establish herself apart from that. Maybe that’s a better way of putting it.

Yeah those last two photos of her just make her look frumpy and dated.

Can we discuss non British Royals too? Prince Henrik of Denmark died. There’s a decent amount to spiral on with him- he’s the one who announced last year he wouldn’t be buried next to his wife because she wouldn’t name him King Consort, which has apparently been an issue throughout their 50+ year marriage.

I know nothing about him, and I'm sorry to speak ill of the dead, but that makes him sound like such an ass. The husband not becoming King when the Queen is the one in the bloodline seems like common practice everywhere, isn't it?

Isn't King Consort kind of a throwaway title though? Like, yeah, you're "king", but you're not KING.

So, not to excuse his statements, but I think once you have dementia, you can/should be forgiven some erratic behavior/strange statements.

Thank you for pointing that out. Dementia is no joke and definitely changes people.

But if it had been an issue their whole 50+ year marriage I’m guessing it was something he was being an ass about before the dementia.

I agree that his dementia might have played a role in his burial decision. And obviously he could have had dementia for years (or even some changes prior to when he would have been able to be diagnosed with dementia), but there have been some long standing issues. In 2002 he left Denmark and went to France for 3 weeks because he was angry that his son (the Crown Prince) was to host an event when the Queen was absent. Prince Henrik said he was being demoted from being “number 2” in the government in favor of the Crown Prince. I mean, you were never really the #2. You weren’t going to inherit the kingdom if your wife died. In 2005 he formally renounced the title of Prince Consort. Yeah, King Consort doesn’t make you REALLY King, but I think there is a different implication than Prince. That’s why King Consort is almost never given as a title. I’m not really sure why he expected it.

But there is being an ass about something with pouting and then taking it to a whole new level with "I don't want to be buried by you." I don't know. I totally agree that he was petty and passive aggressive for years. I don't know. I'm conflicted.

In my Wikipedia spiral on this I also found that Queen Victoria very much wanted to make Prince Albert King Consort, and Parliament recused. Mary Queen of Scots wanted to make her husband King Consort but never formally issued the letters (patent I think?) to make that official, and her advisors were very against this idea.

Also, he wanted his last name to be part of the royal family name. I believe this was an issue for Prince Philip as well. And I partially understand why they’d like that, but it also is like...well how often does that happen when a woman marries into the royal family? She becomes part of the “House of _____”.
