oh I hated the last Dan Brown book, Origins. It was stupid AF and poorly written Dan Brown is a shitty writer. Angels and Demons is craptastic too. I was really embarrassed for him by the end of A&D with the priest on fire or whatever all that was. I enjoyed DaVinci Code but then A&D ruined it for me because he was so ridiculous.

I am always down to hate on Wuthering Heights.
It's been so many years since I read it, but the main thing that stuck with me is how much I hated all of the characters.

The Stand is the only Stephen King book I’ve enjoyed, which feels disloyal considering my roots. It’s a good book on a number of levels Have you read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon? I loved that book. This book. It terrified me. It wasn’t particularly scary, either. It was just so much “oh god - anything can happen to this poor, barely lost but totally isolated kid.”

I really had to think about a book I reaallllly hated. Like I read Man in the High Tower and it was fine, I was disappointed in it, and I wasn't moved to watch the show. But I didn't hate it.
But then I remembered Dante's Inferno. God damn. And I even like footnotes.

I'm way late but Gone Girl. I couldn't finish it.
I also didn't enjoy Hunger Games.

Ok, find me someone who did like Heart of Darkness, because I don’t think they exist. I would like to ask an English teacher if they actually liked that one or if it was one of those required reads they had to teach. My hs teacher made us jump through all the metaphor hoops, said how wonderful of a book it was, etc. But now I don't know if she legit felt that way or if she had to say all that, and if I reread it without all the symbolism identification focus, would I like it?

You're supposed to watch Godot, not read it. Yes. I love Godot as a play. It’s a harder read. I also saw an excerpt of an incredibly moving interpretation of it as part of a Radiolab live show a few years ago.

Have you read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon? I loved that book. I haven’t! Is it spooky? Bag of Bones ruined me for a long time. I’m a weenie It is about a 9 year old who gets lost in the woods in Maine. It’s a very classic man against nature story but with a bit of paranormal stalker action and the girl imagines Tom Gordon as her companion to keep pushing through the ordeal.

This was me and the divergent series The ending of the Divergent series made me wish I had never read it to begin with. Three books worth of action, success, narrow escapes and strength, and that's what we got for an ending.

The Memory Keeper's Daughter was great in theory but the author's writing style didn't do it for me. Every chapter was a rehashing of old events. It could have been more concise.
Lord of The Flies.

My dad convinced me that one of his latest books was up to par with his breakout ones. I read the whole thing in one sitting and then immediately called him (at 11 PM) to tell him how pissed I was at him for telling me it was good. IT WAS NOT GOOD, DAD. I was *just* enough invested in the characters to want to see what happened, and then it basically just fucking ended like he got tired of writing or something. Random comment: It really pisses me off that "woman's lit" has a slightly insulting name (chick lit) and Grisham/Patterson/Clancy etc have no similar name. How about we start calling it... "dude drivel". I agree with this. Plus it is looked down on most of the time.

And some of his other newer stuff I feel cheated after reading, like it’s short and trite and a recycled plot. My advice is to stick to his older stuff.

Eat Pray Love and Wild both felt too navel-gazing to me I think. Hated. Wuthering Heights is miserable. Which sometimes I like and sometimes makes me want to go find it and throw it across the room. Also, this might go without saying, but Fifty Shades of Grey. My sister loved it and made me read it and I will never forgive her. I also really hated The Language of Flowers. The main character made me v angry. I do so enjoy a good hate read most of the time though. I get a thrill out of a nice burst of righteous indignation. Louise Penny is a super shitty mystery writer, and I hate her books so much that I can't stop reading them. soo late but Nooooo, Snow. I love the Inspector Gamache series.
