I'm so sorry! I hope you have an easy and quick recovery.
I'm not sure what medications you are on, but some are safe for BF. For example, my doctor was comfortable with BF on dilaudid after surgery as soon as I was awake in recovery (I still chose to pump and dump the first batch). But, obviously, that depends on your medications/doctors advice/comfort level. I used the lactmed site for info on each drug.

OMG lady!!!! How horrible! What hospital are you at, if you don't mind me asking? IIRC you're soooort of near by? I could be wrong though. Do you need anything in the hospital or for after you get home? I imagine you'll be using, what, crutches at least once diacharged? I'll be using a combo of a walker and a wheelchair when I get out. No crutches for me. We already have the wheelchair, but we have a different type of walker than what they recommend. So we'll need one of those and a bedside commode. Ah you're farther south than I thought. Can I/we send you anything to make life easier at home?? Like....what...? I have no reference point but I can't imagine being incapacitated with an almost 5 month old.

You may also want to get a shower chair if you don’t have a seat in your shower. I think many insurance companies will reimburse you for all of this equipment due to your injury.

We already have one from when I had major knee surgery 5 years ago. We kept it around just in case. Good thing we did, lol.

While I'm in the hospital, DH is having to take care of the baby and fend for himself. Cooking a full meal is kinda the last thing on his to-do list. And once I get home, it'll be awhile before I can help in the kitchen.

Thanks so much for the well wishes and positive thoughts. I've survived the first day post-op. Honestly, the worst part right now is being away from MH and Lugnut. Poor baby misses her mommy cuddles and getting her milk from the tap. And I definitely miss the baby cuddles. I cried when they left this evening.
Thankfully, we worked with the Lactation team to find a pain management regimen that will allow me to resume breastfeeding. So I'll be able to keep what I pump tonight, and feed Lugnut when she comes to visit tomorrow.
