What a shitshow of a night. It started out great... H slept from 930-4, but silly me didn’t go to bed until 11 thinking she would wake up for an extra feeding before she slept that long stretch. Ugh. Then once she ate she was ready to party and wouldn’t go back to sleep until 530 after she ate a 2nd time, and even then i had to sit up and let her sleep on my chest. All the while, N woke up multiple times for a tissue or from her coughing around midnight, and then again at 4, 5, and then 6. And then up for the day at 7.
I’m tired. And alone all day again today. SIL was supposed to take N swimming but she just texted me saying she’s sick too 😩

Good morning! The baby slept 10:15-2 and then 2:30-5. I didn’t. Blah. I’m tired. Today I’m solo all day until after G’s bedtime. I also have a sore throat which is worrying me. I can’t get sick right now. G is playing with her paw patrol toys for now. Her bus doesn’t come for another 20 minutes and she only needs her shoes and and jacket.

DD came and woke me up around 3 to tell me she had a fever. I checked her temp and yep 100*. So I gave her some Motrin, threw her in bed with us and tried to fall back asleep. By 4, I was kicked out of bed and moved to the recliner on the couch. She has a bad cough along with a low grade fever. I hope it’s nothing, but with the flu running rampant, I’d rather be safe than sorry. I’m trying to get her into the pediatrician right now.

Good morning fellow tired mamas/to-be mamas.
TTMA burping or lack there of...
I try to burp DS2 after feedings but after a few minutes of burping there are no burps. But as soon as I put him down he is grunting and uncomfortable and then will spit up. Any advice???
My first son never spat up and was an easy burper so I'm clueless.

Have you tried different positions? Maybe hike him up on your shoulder a little more so your shoulder kind of presses on his belly to get those bubbles out. I had the same issue with DD when she was a baby. You could also try bouncing him on your knee while burping him sitting up.

My DD1 is also sick and I was completely spiraling in panic that it was the flu. She hasn’t had a temp at all so I think it’s just a cold. Fx it’s the same for you guys!

Happy Friday everyone! Sorry for all the rough nights last night!
Today is my last day in the office, and then I'll work from home until delivery. It feels so weird knowing that I won't be here for the next 3 months!

sweetsurprise we can usually get a burp by rubbing her back in a circle a few times and then patting. I think our pediatrician showed us that with DD1.

I slept horribly due to baby’s position. I kept praying I wasn’t in labor. I have a mountain list of stuff to get done today and my boss keeps piling on more training I have to do before I go out on leave. And honestly I don’t want too try to train the one person because I’m afraid I’ll never see my work again because she’ll take over.

sweetsurprise we used to lay DS across our legs when he was fussy like that and rub his back. My mom taught me that trick from my brother who hated to burp.

Thanks, ladies! I just talked to MH and he said she is acting completely normal now that she’s up. Not lethargic at all and her fever hasn’t come back. He’ll be checking her temp throughout the day and will make an appt if it comes back. I hope she’s just fighting a little cold.

We’re at DS’ 2 week checkup (a few days late lol). But big boy is 10 lb 3 oz!! So gained a pound & a half since he was born. I’m so pumped. DD was 2 months old before she weighed this much. After we’re done here I’m going to run some errands with him while MIL is at home with DD. Hopefully DS cooperates with my plans & doesn’t decide to get hungry in the middle of Target lol. Also amesie I can’t believe H slept that long!!! I’m praying DS starts giving me some consistent 4-5 hours here soon haha.

H has a master's degree in engineering but he cannot put together DD's munchkin straw cup for the life of him. Paternity leave will be good for him.

We survived our first day without DH yesterday. I did miss the extra hands but it wasn't bad at all. Faith is a good sleeper most of the time and she is content to sleep on my chest while I watch tv. I even managed to do a few chores (started laundry, unloaded the dishwasher, washed the bottles)!
DH is leaving work early this afternoon to drive us to the weight check since I'm not supposed to drive for almost another week. I would kind of like to go OUT to dinner tonight, but I'm not sure I'm ready to take her out where she will be more exposed to germs. We plan on going to church on Sunday, so that might be enough to me.
WWYD? Our newborn pictures are supposed to be tomorrow, but our photographer let me know that she has had a cold this week. As of this morning she is "feeling better" and only has a bit of a cough left but is willing to let me reschedule. Part of me wants to, but part of me things if she washes her hands and wears a mask it should be okay. She only does newborn sessions on the weekend and I'm concerned if we wait another week Faith will be "too alert" to get the cute squishy sleeping pictures. Obviously Faith staying healthy is more important than the pictures, but I don't know how long someone is contagious with a cold...

I’m loving these burping tips because I’m having the same issue. I thought I had tried tons of things but I’ve missed lots!
I took H to my parents’ yesterday so I could nap and they could watch him. It’s the first 3.5 hour stretch I’ve had since he was born. I normally only get 2.5 hours at the most and my parents loved having him for the afternoon.
I’m now waiting for my accountant to send me payroll so I can drop of cheque a to my employees. I talked to him at 9 and he said he’d do it right away and I still haven’t gotten it. I sent the information on Monday. So frustrating. It can be really difficult to get H in the car and out when I don’t know when he’ll want to eat again.

Acupuncture today again, this morning. We are both feeling very cautiously optimistic! My neighbor that is a midwife is going to try to check baby's position for me on Sunday before I go back to acupuncturist one more time. If we think (pretty confidently...) that she is head down, acupuncturist can do some induction work too, to help my body get ready before we go in to the hospital on Tuesday.
For burping, someone taught me once that lengthening out their body is key, so get them as long as you can if you are holding them up to your body, like doing it on your shoulder. If that makes sense.
I'd prob wait on the pics too...winter babies are challenging as far as germs go! Ugh.

She was in her bed for about an hour and a half but was not quiet about it. She has her ABS therapist coming at 3:30 and I have to be present for that. That is two hours. Then it’s dinner, her OT and then bed. So no real break because MH works late today. But normally yes she would sit quietly and watch tv if I let her.

J is sleeping in my arms and I can’t stop looking at him. Why are babies so darn cute? I was saying to H the other day, with our first the days just felt so long and I was so scared of messing everything up I just kept waiting for next stages to see what it was like then. (Of course I still thought he was completely adorable, and I couldn’t believe I made him, but I found the first time around the hardest!) With DD1 I felt so excited to have her and watch DS and her develop a relationship I couldn’t wait for her to be older and they could play together. Now with DD2 I’m just willing time to slow down and I want to just stare at her little tiny face and I totally get the birth order stereotypes now, she’s forever going to be my baby!!

We had our newborn photos this morning and they went awfully. 3 hours and J did not so much as close her eyes once. She did poop herself about five times though. Blech. That is also how our night went so I am exhausted. Hoping it is just a growth spurt and she is back to her chill sleepy self tomorrow!!

DD3 literally lost ALLLL her hair, skin bald, except around her aplasia cutis spot, which had long dark hair. It was soooo awkward. DD4 was born with the most and darkest hair of all the girls. I keep waiting for it to fall out but it hasn’t happened. I won’t kniw what to do if she stays brunette! Lol. Her eyebrows have zero pigment though.

DS1 had minimal blonde hair and DS2 has lots of dark hair. So weird.
