Moving excites me. There’s such potential in every move. I mean, I get frustrated, but I get excited by all of the possibilities that are potentially open. And I love the feeling of finally finding the aha spot for something.
We just switched the playroom and the den, so not a big move, and I am still so excited and basically sent pictures to everyone I know.

This is entirely my own control issue but I don’t think I could have someone pack for me. Definitely not unpack. I have to purge while I pack and organize while I unpack. i konmaried 3 months before we moved so I was confident that everything in the house needed to go with us. Unpacking they mostly empty the boxes onto surfaces and you put it away from there, they will put it into draws and closets but that seemed like a step too far. I was also working full time and solo parenting since MH moved across country 3 months before me so i had no time to pack up a whole house by myself

I really thought you were on the “if I don’t want to do it myself, pay people to do it for me” train I’m disappointed in you Cher I am! BUT because we had two houses for a few weeks, MH said we didn’t need someone to pack because we brought stuff over everytime we came to check out the construction. Since construction STILL isn’t done, we ended not unpacking/bringing over a lot of things because we were waiting on the cleaners to remove the construction dust. And now I live in construction dust, construction and boxes. Moral of the story: never listen to MH again.

When we moved into our current house my MIL was super offended I wouldn’t let her unpack my kitchen. I felt bad but I need to know where everything is and organize it in my own way, especially in the kitchen, so... thanks but no thanks, MIL. I walked in on MH unpacking my books once and almost fainted. He was just stacking them all willy nilly with no regard for the alphabet whatsoever.

I want to move. I’m on Zillow/Redfin constantly. We only want to go 10/15 minutes south of where we are now, but it’ll be a long term house—the house my kids grow up in. I’m ready to be in that hypothetical house.
I’m hoping we’ll be there by summer 2019.

My brain doesn’t let me have nice things. I could probably get on board with them just taking things out of boxes and putting them on the table.

I don’t know if it works this way with all kids but I waited until they wanted to do it. I tried to do it earlier and it was obvious it wasn’t going to happen. DS was around 3.5 and DD1 was just over 2.5. It was nice that DS didn’t start school until he was almost 4, though, or that would’ve been an issue. Oh yeah they go to an in-home daycare and they probably won't go to preschool I know I know flame away so at least I don't have that aspect to worry about it's just really stressful to wonder why your child won't do something that it seems like everyone else is is and you feel like you're doing something wrong Your kids will do other things easier than other kids. That’s something I’ve really had to tell myself a lot. I can’t look at what other kids are doing and compare, because every kid develops at their own level. And I would never flame for not sending them to preschool, do what’s best for your family.

I’ve lulled my children into quiet contentment with Paw Patrol. Why is Paw Patrol SO loud?

H insisted I let him help me unpack when we moved into this house, because we had a 2mo and a 3yo, and we were hosting Christmas 21 days after our move in day.
So, I look everywhere and can’t find one particular cookbook. I ask him where my cookbooks are. He doesn’t know, but suggests several places that I could look to find them. Cookbooks are not in any of those places.
Where did I find my cookbooks? In the attic. That makes sense, right, that I would conceivably store my cookbooks in the attic- not the pantry, the butler’s pantry, not a bookcase, or the buffet. No, when I want a cookbook, I’ll just go up to the attic and grab one.

We had someone pack for us out of necessity last time. I was supposed to pack, but I was high on Vicodin because worst ear infection ever. The movers showed up and I had nothing packed. They did it all. Then I went to an empty room at the new house and passed out and when I woke up, we were unpacked.

When I moved in we unpacked every single box that wasn’t sent to the basement the first day, I thought I was doing so well. Then I checked out the basement and saw they misplaced 32 boxes. So I had to carry them all up and unpack them. That was not a good day.

I’m a control freak, so it felt like a nightmare at the time. And things were in weird places thanks to DH. But I was able to get it ship shape pretty quick. But we were moving from a 1 bed apartment, so not much! Also, I’d never had an ear infection. I didn’t know how they worked or that the first round of antibiotics should have had me feeling better relatively quickly. I was so sick and dizzy. Standing made me feel like puke. I have so much pity for people with ear infections now.

When H and I moved to Denver, we rented a 500sq ft studio. We couldn’t move once the boxes were brought in. They were wall to wall, on every surface. Unpacking was a nightmare.
That year was a nightmare, actually. Do not recommend 500sq ft.

We have never had boxes more than 5 days, but I do not recommend this method. We are crazy people.

@k3am, I had a double ear infection not too long ago and I was miserable. I had no idea how painful they are.

brux told me she unpacked a box this week too. You guys stress me out. I need to unpack everything. No box left behind. this is me. We were done the first week, including new vanity and toilet in the bathroom. And I ripped the kitchen out the second.

Professional packers are the actual best thing ever, but we only had them the one time our move was financed.

Reese MAY have had an allergic reaction to one of the chemo she was given today. I saw literally three isolated hives on her that were barely noticeable. Because one of the side effects of that chemo IS allergic reaction-they gave her a dose of IV Benadryl.
Needless to say she has been passed out since 6:30. On the plus side we will most likely be going home tomorrow for a few days. Only to be back for 5 days next week for more chemo. Then a week or so break.

I was having a good day until I pulled a muscle in my neck/shoulder. Now I’m cranky and in pain. The plus side is I have a good excuse for not folding laundry.

That year was a nightmare, actually. Do not recommend 500sq ft. I second this. MH and I lived in 600 sq ft apartment for the three years he was in law school. I knew he was the right guy for me because I still liked him after that nightmare. 650 was good when it was just the two of us. It was the perfect amount.

I want to move but don’t want to list/sell our house. We were actively looking this summer but that changed now. I am super specific about location/neighborhood and those houses are never for sale or need a crap ton of work.

I hope so. I'm not pushing her. I offer the potty but don't force her. She also starting at age 2 found out she was super constipated....I'm talking FEET of backed up stool. Took the last year to get her sorted out. Now's she's on daily miralax but terrified of the potty. Doesn't help people always ask "when are you just going to take away her diapers and force her to potty train? Have you read a book? You should get a book." Grrrrrtrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr If one more person says a word about me PTing my 3yo I am going to give them my 3yo and have them PT him for me since they’re obviously an expert on the subject!
