sheilathetank I'm sorry about our grandpa. It's always tough even when it's expected. My grandmother was 99 when she passed away and hadn't really spoken/wasn't with it for a few years, but it was still very sad.

DH and DS are supposed to go to a baseball game tonight and the weather forecast isn't looking so good for it. Either way, I have butter chicken cooking in the crockpot and some chocolate gelato waiting for me in the freezer for later. If they don't go, I'll just have to suggest the two of them do something fun together another day while I'm off.

butlerfan, I can imagine how hard it is trying to fit in regular massages, I hope you're able to get back into them! sheilathetank, can I retire with you? That sounds amazing. And the rob was one of my favorite parts of the spa day! They had a heating pad resting on it, so when I put it on it was nice a warm. I was in heaven.

Mine also gives you chocolate with your robe. I need to find a sugar daddy on the side to finance all my spa dreams.

My little guy is sick. I hate it, but I love when his cheecks get all rosy when he has a cough.
Also, went to a brwery we have not been to in years on Saturday. That is my DD's 11th brewery and my DS's 7 brewery. Not sure if I should be proud or horrified.

I hope so too! I think now that (in theory) we have the schedules worked out I should be able to if nothing else get 1 a month-which won't help me catch up but at least not get further behind. Where I go they have a heating pad/blanket under the sheets that I always want on-it feels wonderful!

I mean, they're kid friendly with games for the kids to play, so I don't usually feel guilty about it.

I use to do this at home with a heating blanket in the winter. It was so nice to crawl into an already warm bed!

Most breweries around here are family friendly with kid menus and activities for them to do.

I'm just having a really tired and unmotivated Monday. H is out of town on a work trip, so both DS and I slept poorly. This morning he was kind of a wreck, so it was the kind of day I was relieved to drop him off at day care. Tonight I fully intend on bribing him with Paw Patrol to make it to bedtime with both of us in one piece.

Waiting for a milkshake... and then picking up a bajillion sample cans of paint. We are (paying someone else to) paint our whole house this summer! Yay, bye all white walls that we've had literally everywhere our whole adult lives! This is our first house, we've been in apartments until last summer.

Any colors that are in the front running? The main rooms are still beige in our house but our bedroom is a dark clay green and the nursery is a gray blue color. I'd like to do the bathroom next but can't decide on the right color.

I know this is entirely regional but is getting someone to paint a bajillion dollars? I used to do all the painting in all our previous places and did a damn good job too. But I can no longer start as soon I get home and stay up until 1am painting. I want to paint the nursery the same way it was in the apartment but I just don't have time. I fear we will have cream colored walls for forever as well.

V has been to about a dozen breweries and cideries in his lifetime, and he's never been the only child there.

I'd like to do the bathroom next but can't decide on the right color. We have mostly chosen the colors, it's like which exact shade, that's why the samples. Main house color will be a light grey, either with blue or purple undertones, we have open kitchen/living so it will be in there plus in the halls and in our upstairs playroom (we have a ranch with a loft). We are going to probably do the formal dining in a darker shade of what we pick for the main room. LOs room will be a beige with a hint of pink. Debating on doing the bathrooms in a color or in the main house color. Our bedroom we are having the hardest time with either a taupe-y color or maybe a purplish-grey (possibly what we use in the living room) Our house is very bright and we don't want to lose that so mostly light colors. It's definitely so hard to pick colors!!! Sherman Williams has a really great app called color snap that has like a visualizer and also if you take a pic of something it will match to a paint color.

Our house is around 4000 sq ft and we are doing all but 2 small rooms (our office and a future nursery/bedrooms(hopefully)) we also have 11 ft ceilings downstairs. Our quote is for around 5.5k depending on the final paint type and how many colors (including paint). It's expensive but inline with what we were expecting/we feel it's reasonable. We will probably get more than one quote to be sure but feel strongly about going with a larger reputable company even if that means paying a bit more bc of what happened during our last contractor experience (don't remember if I posted it at the time but tl/dr he got drunk in our house, did basically nothing, disappeared and probably hit our neighborhood's mailbox with his car). We are in central TX so I'd imagine our cost of labor is less than what yours would be...

It was right after we moved so LO was around like 5 months... we have had a lot of weird house stuff... our hot water heater broke in Boston when LO was like 10 days old. We had no hot water for like 4 days bc it was a weird size unit and they couldn't find a replacement. The maintenance guy was like idk what they are going to do every unit's is going to break in the next few years and they like don't make this model anymore... lol. Last week wild pigs got loose on our street. I'm not joking.

Where we are from, there are lots of breweries and many are family friendly - it's a normal thing!

Omg you guys. I am definitely out of the running for mom of the year.
I mentioned yesterday (I think) that R suddenly stopped sleeping -- like, at all. Screaming and screaming and fighting naps and bedtime and waking up MOTN. I was just like WTF is going on/what happened to my child?!
So what happened was: I put a fan in his room. And apparently he hates/is terrified of it. Which makes zero sense because he had a ceiling fan in his room in Vietnam from birth --> 15 months. He sleeps in a walk-in closet here with no separate air vent so I bought a fan to help circulate air in there. But apparently that was the wooooorst thing I could ever have done. I took it out along with changing up a bunch of other variables in hopes of getting him to sleep and... his sleep is back to normal (though I hate to admit that the 5:15 wakeup is the new normal).
I feel terrible that I didn't realize that was the problem and even more terrible that I was basically letting him CIO because I thought he was just fighting me. :/ Hopefully his toddler goldfish memory will forgive and forget.
Tl;dr my kid refused to sleep for three days because I put a fan in his room.

littleliverpill Glad to hear you figured out the issue and can now get back on track with sleep! I wouldn't beat yourself up about it - he won't remember. Now he'll be happier because he won't be overtired!

Someone gave K a monkey that had a nightlight in it and sang lullabies for her crib. It took a week of nightmare bed times, hysterical crying, and multiple wakeups before we realized she was terrified of it. We took it out and it was like night and day. We can only do the best we can until we know otherwise.
