That stinks sands42! Thank you flamingo. I have mentioned it to my pedi and she wanted to wait and see. But he is still not talking and everything Iâve read says early intervention is key. Iâm interested in the speech therapy but also interested in the early intervention process and how to navigate that. When you say not talking, do you mean he has no words at all or fewer than you would expect at this age? Dude had a lot of words early on and I know that skewed my expectations. X talks but not nearly as much as Dude and I can't tell if he's just not as much of a talker or I should start to worry. ETA: Never mind, I see you specified what words he has ATM further down the thread. I think this is what happened with me. Charlie has a lot of words, but Josie had more and she was super articulate at this age. I'm don't think I'm exaggerating his pronunciation, but my expectations are a little skewed bc I only have Josie to compare him to.

jewels I donât know how it works in your state but in mine we donât have to have a referral to get an evaluation from early intervention. I spoke with the pedi at Sâs 15 and 18 month appts about her lack of speech (all she was saying was âdaâ at 18m) and he said generally he likes to wait until they are 2 to get an eval. I decided on my own to get one and she was basically boarderline. The way they do it here is first they have a preliminary eval and then if the evaluators think they will qualify for services they go for the official testing. The lady said that she wasnât sure S would qualify but that standards are much more strict at 2, so we decided to wait and after her birthday I will call them again. She was evaluated in early October (right around 19 months). Since then she has started to say more words, but isnât super clear and doesnât string any words together. I understand what she wants for the most part because Iâm around her all the time, but I donât think the general public would understand much. All that tl;dr to say that if you think itâll make you feel better then get the eval. Itâs a free public service youâre entitled to.

I am a big bath person. Before H was born I took one almost every day. It was my favorite when I was pregnant with her, made my back feel better. When we built our house the master bath was only supposed to have a stall shower and I nixed that and got a wide/deep tub instead. I actually took one earlier tonight đ
ETA: while Iâm in the tub I put my laptop on the toilet (which is next to the side of the tub my head is on) and watch YouTube videos or Netflix.

jewels my nephew didn't talk until after he was 2. He would just point to his very talkative older brother who would answer for him. Once he did start talking it was like he had been holding on to all these words and no one knew it. Iâve heard so many of these stories and I am hopeful thatâs the case but like tallb and flamingo and others said, I would never forgive myself if that wasnât the case and I didnât take action. Iâd rather get him services he doesnât need then sit and wait and wish o had done something later. It also doesnât help that S is, and has always been, the most verbal child. I have videos of him at 18 months stringing words together already. I think itâs harder bc thatâs what I compare him to. My pedi also keeps reminding me thatâs not normal either. Iâll see what she says next week and go from there

J is the class dog? I feel like I'm missing something here. He likes to pretend he's a dog and his stuffy is a golden retriever that everyone knows. The teachers say hi puppy when he arrives and he is known to bark in response...he also says we are a dog family đ€·. I guess yesterday he had the whole class acting like dogs and cats all afternoonđ. The teachers seem to think it's fun and fine though. We do need to actually get him a dog at some point though. This article did freak me out though, but I think we are in the normal realm still: jezebel.com/yeah-that-seems-similar-to-the-diaper-fetishist-kink-w-1778656788#! My nephew was a dog for about a year at around 3-4. Drove his family nuts. He eventually grew out of it and is a happy 7 year old boy now ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Thank you trtlcrzy that was super helpful, and I think B is similar to S verbally. Iâm glad sheâs starting to say more words now, and I hope you get the services next month if you need them!

cagoldi It was good, I think. He numbed me and used a needle to try to dig it out verses an incision. It's a little bit swollen but I think he may have gotten some of it, if not all of it. It doesn't look bad, thankfully! Thanks for asking!

Re: Early Intervention- S started getting EI Services at 6 weeks old. But her diagnosis automatically qualified her. But I absolutely agree that early is better. Most states allow you to self refer I believe...meaning it doesnât take a dr referral. The evaluation shouldnât cost anything. And if they are borderline, you can always do like trtlcrzy and re-evaluate after 2 if your still concerned.
