I am dying laughing at this special. "She grew up on the wrong side of the tracks". Literally the city is divided by a river and the tracks run on one side. Half of the city lives on the wrong side. But they lived in a new trailer. H and I were rolling at this. “We weren’t trailer trash! We had a brand new trailer!”

I believe what she says about her mom and Jeff. But she was a brat and obviously not capable of handling the pressure and fame, even with all the good influences in her life, like her coach Diane. I mean, after she landed that triple in competition, she just decided she didn’t need to practice as much? That’s not how top tier athletes handle that. They keep pushing to get even better at their sport. I dunno, the ABC special was really interesting, but it didn’t make me sympathize with her any more or less.

Ice skating people, is the triple axel rare or is it more common since Tonya did it? I believe it’s still the most difficult jump and only a handful of women can do it successfully. There is a US skater going to the Olympics this year who can do it.

I watched the interview yesterday. I have a lot of feelings. I really do believe she was abused as a child and by her ex. On the other hand, she changes her story so much about what she knew/when that I'm fairly convinced she knew way more than she lets on. Nancy Kerrigan really annoyed me when she was being interviewed, but I assume she's just really sick and tired of talking about this.

The other thing I think they said in the interview is she could have gone to the olympics on her own skating merit, she was an incredible skater. So I don’t know if her husband got in her head at the time or was the overall mastermind... I think I have to see the movie to see the portrayal of all that.
I also thought Allison Janey on Ellen made some really interesting points and talks about how they had to CGI the triple axel scene because the 2 skaters who can do the triple axel were training for the olympics and didn’t want to risk injury. So it seems like it is still considered rare. Janey interviewed linked below. I think I will be spiraling on this all through the Winter Olympics.

I wouldn’t want to talk about this if I were Nancy Kerrigan either. It was decades ago and she’s got nothing to gain from it.

However, I am not Nancy, so I will be watching all the things.
