Yeah, I can’t see an official royal assasination of Diana. The mother of the future king? No way. And I could be wrong, but she wasn't really making waves right? Yes they got divorced and it was muy escandaloso but she wasn't doing tell all's on Oprah or threatening to take down the crown. For awhile she did a few scandalous interviews and stuff. But both sides were being very petty. At the time of her death she was looking to move on with a new man. She never did anything that warranted some sort of death conspiracy. Just some really really out of control paps.

I believe the Queen allegedly said at some point they shouldn't have let Diana turn down continued protection by royal bodyguards or something along those lines. There were definitely some bad decisions made the night she died (like the driver being drunk). If she had royal guards to drive her it's incredibly unlikely one of them would have been drinking. I can see why she wanted to be free of all that though, especially if she felt they might have reported her activity back to the Queen/Charles. The paps obviously played a roll too, laws and rules were changed because of their actions.

Yes, I'm enjoying it! H likes it, too. Will add to watch list. Currently royals spiraling and am watching The Tudors. Victoria season 2, starts on PBS tomorrow night. Much excite. I did not love Season 1 of Victoria. Am I alone in this?

Have people seen the casting news for Season 3 of The Crown? They’re jumping ahead in time.
I’m a little meh on Helena Bonham-Carter as Margaret but I LOVE Olivia Colman as QE.

Yes. Victoria was better than the Crown IMO. But I know Victorian history a little less so maybe it was because of that. Lord M can get it though. The Prince, not so much.

I didn't finish S1 of Victoria because I just didn't find it super interesting. I do find Rufus Sewell super interesting, though.

I also love Rufus Sewell but Lord Melbourne was...not Rufus Sewell.
It was pretty to watch costume/setting-wise and I’ll still watch the next season but I was underwhelmed. It was like a late season of Downton Abbey - overly soapy - and the woman who played Victoria is not a great actress.

I just did a web search for the real Lord Melbourne for funsies, and I stumbled upon Victoria /Melbourne fan fic. (Example tags: Older Man/Younger Woman, True Love, Love Confessions, First Kiss, Drunk Sex, New Year's Eve, Fights) Also this: So in conclusion, none of you should feel as weird as those people should.

Why is it that when backpedaling, everything that was foul, was “taken out of context”? All the nopes.

I’m watching the Crown and that is about the extent of my royal knowledge. But I’m amazed at how much more relaxed things have become through Queen Elizabeth’s reign/one generation. Margaret wasn’t allowed to marry her first love and then couldn’t announce her engagement until after the birth of the 3rd royal baby, and now both of those things were just done by Harry.

William is in line, but is not currently king. So it wasn't quite the same situation. I was talking to DH about the changes though with the divorces.

I didn't know George isn't allowed to wear pants until he's 8... no matter how cold it is.
That's a pointless tradition.
