It’s supposed to get up to 31 today! Time to break out the flip flops. I can’t remember the last time I was excited for 31 degrees 😛

Massive winter storm coming our way. So not happy, this could mean two snow days in a row just when we are getting back to school. Not to mention those days are going right into the end of the year in June. Sigh. We have a gas fireplace that keeps the house fairly warm even if we lose power, but I don’t know what people will do if they have only electric heat and don’t have power this weekend. It’s supposed to be horrendously cold.

Good morning ladies! I have quite the day ahead of me. I’m taking DD to the music class at the library, then dropping her off at MILs while I go get muh hair did. Then I have a few returns to make. Thennnn I have a dr apt at 345. It was supposed to be Thursday morning but i changed it to today since we’re supposed to get a crap ton of snow tomorrow. Lots of running around to do. I hope I'm not completely debilitated by the end of the day haha.

The high here for is 10*. Better than the high of -11 we had Saturday.
I made a very hard decision last night. I exclusively pumped with DS1 for 11.5 months but decided to give breastfeeding a shot this time. I struggled but made it through my time at the hospital but only with DH helping me with latch. I have huge nipples so DS2 was having issues getting a deep latch. Needless to say, it got very painful for me. I wanted to enjoy the bonding experience but I just did not, at all. He wasn't emptying my breasts so that added to the discomfort. I was to the point that I cringed every time he latched but powered through because I told myself it would get better. Nope.
So last night I decided that I was going to revert back to exclusively pumping because I know it works for me and he's still getting breast milk. I pumped and was able to feed him his first bottle. I would say that was our first true bonding experience while feeding. In that moment I knew I made the right decision and that the frustration for both of us was over.
Sorry for the novel but just wanted to tell you mommas that there is no shame in deciding it isn't for you.

Hugs to you jessijean! There is no shame in feeding your baby and taking care of yourself. You EPing mommas are rockstars, I know I could never do it. Great job momma.

Just had an appointment. Cervix is still closed which is typical for me, my body doesn't warm up at all. It's just BOOM labor 😂 heading home to do some work and trying to stay warm!!

After measurable contractions/Braxton Hicks for about an hour and a half they stopped when I went to bed. I'm kinda glad because while I'm done being pregnant I'm not quite ready to have a newborn... But this has motivated me to pack my hospital bag today! Each contraction was about 45-60 seconds and averaged about 3 1/2 minutes apart. They were strong enough to make me wince but not "OMG THAT HURTS"...

She left it up to me yesterday whether I wanted a check and I decided not to because I don't think it would change anything. I will get a cervix check and membrane strip next week since I will be 40+2. (hopefully I won't make it to that appointment)

We didn’t check at my appt this time but with DD I was 2cm at 38w and no other labor signs until the day of & then it was like a race to the finish lol.

It was 23 degrees here which is a NEVER in Texas! Since we just moved and have boxes in our garage, my car was outside covered in ice! I had to use a tictac box to scrape the ice off the windows! Lol. In other news, I think I need to wear a sign around my neck with Jan. 10th written on it since everyone I encounter is now asking me when this baby is coming. jessijean as a past EPer I totally get it. I'm wondering how this time around will be for me. I really want to give BFing a chance but I remember the frustration vividly, so we shall see...

I hope by the time I get to 40ish weeks it is open enough for them to try a membrane sweep, I have never had one, but I doubt my cervix will cooperate haha.

Also, sorry to be a PW today, but night 1 of weaning DD2 from bottles went better than I thought! Bedtime was very rough and it took an hour or so for her to go to sleep but her MOTN wakeups she just fussed and then self-soothed back to sleep. The huge bonus is that since she didn't have 2-3 MOTN bottles, she didn't wet through everything and for the first time in weeks I had a break from washing sheets! Whoop whoop!

Morning! I have a checkup in the city later this morning so H is also coming up with the kids and going to run some errands with them while I wait.
39w with DD on top and my last bump pic with her, 38 weeks with this LO on bottom. My sticky outtie babies lol.
And the anxious big siblings!
Have a good day!

I need to get out of bed...I've been here since about 6pm last night after getting sick. Is it possible that reflux could cause violent vomiting? I think I might live on water and crackers until this baby is born...
I need to rewash a load of laundry (aka the only clothes that fit me now) bc I left them in the dryer and our exhaust flap on the outside was slightly open and DH Zburned some wood in our fire pit...so my clean clothes smell like a bonfire! I wanted to wash some baby clothes and nursing bras and stuff but not sure I have the energy. I need to try to eat something I guess.

I'm sorry easternshoregirl, I definitely thing reflux can worsen nausea and vomiting. After DS was born and I got readmitted for anemia/dehydration I noticed that the Zantac really helped and I only got sick when it was wearing off I switched to Prilosec and turned a corner. Granted this was after getting blood and fluids so maybe it was just coincidence

I wonder if Prilosec is ok during pregnancy. I'll see what the OB says.

I just had an "I am an idiot" moment. I know fermented food and foods with probiotics are good for reflux. We buy/eat plain yogurt though, which has not appealed to me in weeks. Why don't I just eat flavored yogurts for a few weeks?! Duh

Prilosec is pregnancy category c and Zantac is category b. I would definitely mention to your ob.

Other than last minute things (which I have a written list for) my hospital bag is packed and ready to go.
I'm taking a small tote bag for labor and everything else will be in a suitcase & diaper bag that won't be brought in until I'm in recovery.
I feel kinda silly since I've been through this before, but my labor bag pretty much consists of electronic chargers, devices, hair bands, chapstick, tissues and some snacks for DH and my Mom. Plus my pillow. Am I missing anything?

aprilz81 you’re probably good. My hospital provides a lot, and I’ve never really needed much for labor since I was planning the epidural. I’d just rest and hang out on my phone. I did have a baby book in there with me for them to put footprints in.

I’m not feeling well today. My mom and sister each had the stomach flu last week, but I thought I’d been spared. I haven’t thrown up yet but my stomach is so dang quesy and I went from constipation to diarrhea. Thankfully my parents came and picked up DD2 & 3 and DD1 is at school, so I’ve just been napping.

Good idea!

Hello! All 3 of us are down with a cold. My parents got here at 6am. They ended up leaving their hotel in Savannah to try to miss the bad weather at 10:30pm! Yikes! They’re staying w my great Aunt for a few days so we can hopefully kick these colds bc there’s no reason for them to get sick unnecessarily. I don’t think this weather is helping. 40s and rainy is just gross. In other news, MetLife did not transfer my short term claim to Sedgwick. So that’s awesome. They said to give it until Friday/early next week. Um. I’m having a flipping c section next Thursday. They said if they get it they then have to have their “medical professionals” review it to make sure it’s a legit claim. 🙄

I’m back at work for the first time after being off since the 23rd. It’s soooo slow. No one wants to buy baked goods right after the holidays and I’ve been turning down custom cake orders because I’m afraid I’ll go into labour early.
I’m supposed to have an ultrasound and NST tomorrow but the hospital still hasn’t give my OB a time yet. Thank goodness I have a flexible schedule. My OB told me this morning that they would make a plan on if I’ll be induced early or not after tomorrow’s scan.

I just looked at the roster and realized I have the next EDD of active posters here. Not sure if I will be the next to give birth though
