We had a nice quiet Christmas eve at home. DH and I exchanged gifts, we had a small ribeye roast for dinner, and all dressed in our Christmas pajamas.
I'm hoping the snow isn't too bad tonight into tomorrow so we can get to my parents house.

Lowkey day here as well. MH had to work both the weekend as today. D and I slept in and mum visited in the afternoon which was nice. Once MH came home from work we took a nap together and had a late dinner. Tomorrow he is off so we are doing our xmas dinner tomorrow - just us tho as the rest of the fam is sick!
Merry Christmas everybody! 🎄🎄🎄

Merry Christmas! Hope you all had a lovely day.
A got completely spoiled, but not in an overwhelming way. Pretty great Christmas, it’s been awhile since we’ve been around family this time of year.

Merry Christmas everyone!
We stayed home because today we leave town for two weeks! Christmas Eve we had friends over and yesterday was us trying to pack and clean. We weren't sure how much DD understand about Santa at 18 months but Xmas morning she ran straight to the tree to see her toys so she gets it!

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!
We had a great Christmas with family.
Ds1 started really acting up yesterday. So many tantrums. I might have asked this before but does anyone have a toddler who hits himself? For example, I accidentally bump into ds1, so he hits himself where I bump him. Or he's mad and I pat his head (trying to soothe) so he hits himself there. I really don't like it but am not sure how to stop it. We don't spank, so I'm not sure where he got the hitting idea although daycare spanks their grandson (barely, more like a tap) and he sees that.
He's also started intentionally trying to annoy me by repeating everything I say in a mocking tone. It makes my blood boil. I really need better anger management. I think the best tactic for that one is to just ignore him.
Baby H has woken pretty much every hour or two hours the last two nights. Dh is beside himself and wants to cry it out but I think it's due to all the people being at our house, the leap, and u s transitioning out of the swaddle. Dh just doesn't understand how significantly things like that can affect sleep.
So we are trying to get my in-laws to move out of their house, the one with mice. We've been trying for years bc they can't afford it and it's way too big for just the two of them, but it's where their kids grew up and they are very attached. I'm hoping the mice will be the boost to get them out.

thinkchocolate05, sorry it’s rough with the toddler right now. I have no advice for the hitting, but you could post it on parenting, they seem to have decent advice for things like this. With the mocking, just ignore. Which I know for me will be difficult because I get annoyed easily. Lol!

I woke up with the baby and made breakfast. I started to clean up the Christmas mess while he’s occupied in the bouncer. But then I said fuck it and sat down to enjoy my coffee while it’s hot.

It is MHs first day of in what feels like forever. We are having a quiet day. He is messing around behind the pc atm while baby naps and I am upstairs trying to mess out my room which has been the dumping place for errrrrtthing these past several months. I look forward being able to craft some again esp if I get a sewing machine for my bday next month so I really want it tidy again. In a bit I am going to prep dinner - we are doing our xmas dinner tonight 🙂

Baby h woke every hour to 1.5 hours again. This sleep regression and swaddle transition is killing us. He gets super tired at 6 pm and has to take a nap, so tonight I'm going to try to put him down for the night then.

Ugh just when we have plans to go somewhere this afternoon - D. has a playdate with the girls next door heh - she goes on a napstrike. I really don't want to take an overtired baby to a playdate just to get overstimulated even more so.. I managed to get her down finally but she only slept for 30 minutes ugh. She's lounging in the sleeper now, hopefully she'll fall asleep again for a nother short nap!

thinkchocolate05 I think the hitting is just a phase. My 2yo was doing it a couple of months ago and it freaked me out (aka he got a reaction out of me) and I asked our SLP because I was worried about it being an ASD thing but she said it’s not uncommon and they are learning how to express themselves and may not have all the words they need to do so. In that case, they resort to physical behavior. DS2 hasn’t been doing it recently so I hope it subsided quickly for you too.

It’s currently 0* outside and feels like -10*....I’m debating whether or not to get the kids out to go to the gym today. We’ve been in the house since Christmas Eve but I’m not sure if it’s too cold for the kids to be out. I am on the brink of losing my sanity.

I get so restless and so does Noah when we are cooped up all day- I can’t imagine wth three! Yesterday it was 0*, feels like -17 here, but I still went out bc he was not having it. Of course he hates the car seat and screams until we arrive at our destination... but I refuse to go out today. Except it’s slightly warmer - 1*, feels like -15! Can winter be over? 😒

I’m still swaddling A, because he just moved so much all of the time that he wakes himself up. He’s been throwing his legs against his mattress all night long lately too. It’s driving me nuts.
I need to try to transition him out of it soon, but I’m not interested in giving up more of the little sleep I get. When’s the absolute necessary age?

I believe it’s when they are consistently rolling. The danger is they wiggle out and it gets over their face and can smother them. Unless it’s a swaddle up or something like that then it’s different where you can take the arms out and that helps with transition.

@easilyunamused that swaddle looks amazing. What’s it called / where do I get it / is it stupid to try one now
Also DH has the flu. I’m so thrilled. He refuses to not sleep in our bed so I’ve made a barrier of pillows between him and N and I. I’m so tired and I drank from the same glass as him yesterday before he told me he felt sick. Thanks dude. Hoping I can get the prophylactic tamiflu dose when he goes to the dr today. Funnily enough he is covering the urgent care clinic at the hospital this week. Now he has to call in sick and go to the clinic himself. Well, I think that’s funny. He doesn’t see the humor.

@easilyunamused, the swaddle looks so comfy, what’s wrong with these babies and not sleeping?? Lol
I’m not sure when you would stop with that one.

Omg to the flu addymac ugh. I hope you and N are spared! Aren’t you going back to work soon too? Yep. Next Tuesday. Ugh I really hope I don’t get sick. I’m so annoyed even though I know it’s not his fault. And he usually toughs it out with a cold, he’s not a man-cold type of guy and he said he feels like he’s going to die and just looks awful. Poor guy. But I also am so tired and my boobs hurt and N is being a fussy eater so I’m like over it. I hope he gets better soon, for everyone’s sake and that we don’t get sick. Also. Finding a nanny sucks. I’m so over it and I have at least three more interviews to go today 😣

addymac, it’s actually a great swaddle! The Velcro is a bit loud, so I avoid fixing it if he’s asleep. The website says to stop using it once the baby can flip from back to stomach so there is still some time left for me. At least arms in. You can use it with arms out too if they just like the tightness on their chest. annaandeve.com

I wish he would be quarantined to lessen the risk of you guys getting it. The nanny thing is so awful too, I’m sorry 😞 What will you do if you don’t find someone by next week?!

addymac MH had the flu last week too. I took the kids away and stayed at my parents for 3 days and did their Christmas without him. None of the rest of us got it, thankfully. We just started potty training DS (he's 2.5). It's...a lot with a baby in the house. I'm jealous of H going to work. And E has her first cold. She's preferring bottles at this point, which I get, but damn I hate pumping.

unicornsparkles I'm glad your 2 year old stopped the self hitting. Mine is still doing it-- the more attention we draw to it, the more he does it, so I think it's for the reaction. I've started to try to verbalize what's bothering him and get him to repeat after me, so maybe that will help. I was worried about it being a sign of asd as well although his eye contact and verbal development seems fine. @easilyunamused I use a Halo swaddle, so it's also velcro. I go by the rule that I need to stop once he's rolling back to front, the concern being that he'll flip to his front and be stuck like a turtle if his arms are confined, raising suffocation risks. Also, he's really started protesting his arms being bound since he loves munching on his hands. The transition has definitely killed his sleep though. Hopefully he will acclimate quickly. addymac That must be so exhausting and nerve wracking. I hope you find a nanny asap and that neither you nor N get sick. For Christmas, I asked dh for a work pumping bag bc I looked like a crazy bag lady with a bag for my pump, a bag for the milk, and a bag for my stuff. I got a Kaylaa striped pump bag, and I love it so far!! It is huge and heavy but worth it. It fits the Spectra nicely and I don't even have to remove the pump from the bag when I use it. We are trying to get my in-laws to move out of their mice infested house. They saw a rental yesterday and my mil was upset bc the carpet was stained and doesn't want to rent unless the owner replaces the carpet in the whole house. I was like, stained carpet or mice? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔But of course I didn't say anything.

T went to grandma’s today for the night. Hopefully, she’s not the biggest asshole when she returns tomorrow, but I don’t have much hope.
R had her four month shots this afternoon. She seems a little fussy, but I haven’t given Tylenol yet.
I go back to work tomorrow after a five day break.
