I expect I know the answer to this, but have any of you used an instant pot? I received one last night, and I can't wait to give it a go. Anything I should know? Any recipes floating around you can't live without? Yes. Mashed potatoes are great. No boiling, no draining. 4 minutes, quick release, then Just throw in the butter and cream and mash. Last night I cooked these giant chicken legs in 15 minutes, then broiled them with sauce. My dad said they were amazing. I also do spaghetti in it. Equal part of sauce and water, box of pasta, 4 minutes. Quick release and then saute function and stir to get the noodles that clumped, un-clumped. Remember it takes time to get up to pressure so 4 minutes isn't the true time. But if you put it on saute when you add the liquid while you prep everything else it will come up to pressure faster.

I really want to take the boys there this winter. Just for a night or 2. I should start looking for groupons. We did a Groupon. It was such a good deal, but be sure to account for food costs or bring your own. My H and I had a burger each and split an order of fries. $20. kim22, what happened?!

Morning. We stayed up late finishing Narcos and n got up at 5:30, which seems to be her new time. It's going to be a long break if she keeps this up😴.
We are off and going to take N in shortly and get coffee and donuts and then movie later today. I maybe should wrap something too. Have a good day everyone!

I'm getting an Instant Pot for Christmas from my MIL and I can't wait! I've pinned so many recipes on Pintrest already! I browsed for a few minutes last night but was too tired to concentrate, so I don't think I actually pinned anything. You can stalk my Pintrest if you want, I'm not sure how to share things on there? #old

I'm at work. Hopefully it will be a slow day because I have a bunch of reports to finish. One of the reasons I don't mind working over the holidays is because most people are off so there's less fires to put out. Therefore, I get more of my actual work done.

Thanks, I didn't realize the food was so expensive there! I would take breakfast and lunch stuff. We'd just eat there for one meal. Or it's right in a busy area so we could leave for dinner.

I’ve never minded coming in the last day before Xmas break or the week Btwn Xmas and NYE. Traffic is so light, I can dress down a bit and I’m generally less busy.

Morning! H is still doing great this morning. Even sat and snuggled DH before he left which is a rarity.
Daycare is closed so both kids are home and I'm WFH. I suspect today will be super slow and I think I'm the only one working. Then we're having friends over for steak and crab legs tonight. Mmmm, can't wait.

Morning! S felt like she might have a bit of a fever before bed so I dosed her with Motrin before I put her to bed. She woke up around 4:45 hot. I didn’t take her temperature but if I had to guess I’d say at least 102. Gave her more Motrin at that time but she was mad and didn’t want to lay down and sleep. I’m not sure what’s going on with her. She got up with DH when he got ready for work at 6 and came back to me at 7:30ish and fell asleep again. She’s currently still sleeping.
In other news, I need to run to target or the grocery store today. I need ingredients for the Christmas brunch item I’m bringing and I want to make chocolate covered peanut butter pretzel sandwiches.

We've done all those options had no trouble with any of them. This time I brought a fair amount of easy prep stuff the boys like, and they were in heaven.

I LOVE "Love Actually," probably my favorite Christmas movie. Second fav would be "It's a Wonderful Life"
I love my Instant Pot, it really is pretty magical lol. Pinterest is your friend, so many recipes!
Slow day at work today. I'm only here for a half day. So I'm going to knock out some mandatory training. Currently I'm taking Cyber Awareness Training.... So boring.

mskatiep It’s a Wonderful Life is one of my favorites, too. I also love White Christmas...the dancing and costumes never get old.

Today was pajama day at daycare. All 3 of us wore santa stuff so they took a pic. Don’t look at the bags under my eyes...
Also check out M’s pony she wanted today.

ladystrat oh you have to watch it ASAP!! Such a classically good Christmas movie! joelies my niece is 6 and really into mermaids so I got her a mermaid tail blanket. tgrimes how’s your nephew? We’re all of today except Lucas, poor kid has one more day of school. Luckily he loves it and wants to go and they are doing fun stuff today so I don’t feel too bad that he’s missing out On family time with us. Oh the joys of three different school schedules. Anyway, dh wants to take Landon to see Star Wars, which I have exactly zero interest in, so I’m going to take ry to coco or Ferdinand and then finish up some Christmas shopping at the mall while there movie finishes. Then we will have lunch at a brewery and probably run some more errands. kim22 I still need to get some nursing bras/tanks. Did you end up liking those ones you got from Groupon?

My Christmas movie favorites are While You Were Sleeping, Muppet Christmas Carol, Christmas in Connecticut, and It's a Wonderful Life. I can quote the first two verbatim.

xolastunicornxo Still the same. I facteimed him last night because he wanted to see the kids. I think a physical therapist came in yesterday to work with him a bit. He's just getting these massive headaches that are really painful. He's told my sister to just kill him and put him out of his misery. Tomorrow will be his 3rd treatment so I hope he sees an improvement after that.

ladystrat mwhip we love ours! Pasta in the IP is delicious and easy. Don't be afraid of it! There is an instant pot fb page that has lots of good info. I unfollowed so I don't get it on my feed but I search for tricks and recipes there a lot. Do the water test first. You don't need to but it helps get you familiar with how it works. Mwhip you will never go back to your old hard boiled egg recipe!

Took Ace to the vet for a check on how he's doing. He has lost a bit of weight, but they aren't super concerned. Should have his blood results back next week.
We're headed to the movies in a bit to see Shape of Water.
Cadence's DC closes at 3 today, so we'll pick her up then .
It's raining and gross. I just want to stay in bed and binge Netflix.

I may use the thing everynight!
