Hey all thought I’d start a new check-in thread!
How old is baby? How is baby doing? How is mama doing? Rants/Raves/Concerns?
GTKY: any TV recommendations for maternity leave TV?

Baby is 4 weeks and thriving. He’s already gained 2lbs and he sleeps 3 hour stretches from about 9:30-8. Feedings are pretty quick and he rarely poops at night so nighttime changes are rare.
Mama is doing well. I’m pretty much healed and have started diet and exercise. I have my PP appointment next week. My mood is mostly good. I get a little anxiety or sadness here and there, but it usually passes quickly.
Breastfeeding is going well, but just like with DD my left side is overproducing and right side is nothing. I may give it up and just use the left side.
GTKY: I’ve already watched The Good Place, iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and I’m in the middle of Call the Midwife. I’m working on catching up on many shows.

How old is baby? 2 weeks yesterday
How is baby doing? Great! He gained almost 1 lb between weighed feedings at the LC in the last week so I’m really relieved about that. He’s very sleepy, though I think he’s starting to get a bit of gas/witching hr around DD’s bedtime.
How is mama doing? Doing ok. My incision hurts. I think there might be an infection or clot under (no bleeding this CS but I had a clot last time) so I’m waiting to see what dr says today.
Rants/Raves/Concerns? My insurance is denying my lovenox after 9 months of it. Again, need to talk to dr about it today and whether he will argue with them, say 2.5 weeks PP instead of 6 weeks is ok on it, or whether I end up paying like $350 OOP for the last refill of the damn drug. On the plus side, between IF drugs with DD and blood thinners for 3 of my 4 pregnancies, I’ve given myself like 750 shots in the belly and I’m nearly done!! (Unless we decide to have a third 😳)
GTKY: any TV recommendations for maternity leave TV? I’m thinking about trying to start the Crown after the holidays. Dh wants to get the 2 seasons of GoT from the library and I’m like, I’m not binging at night! Sleep fool!!

How old is baby? 2 weeks 1 day
How is baby doing? He's awesome. After 6 days he was up at birth weight so we won't know how much he weighs until his one month appointment. His latch is improving so breastfeeding has been better. He still latches on pretty lazily at night when he is tired but my nipples aren't nearly as sore. He is wicked gassy though and we basically have poop every time he eats. He's doing about 2.5-3.5 hour stretches at night of sleep. He had his first adventure to the grocery store today.
How is mama doing? I'm doing ok. Pretty much healed. No bleeding. I'm cleared to drive but still have some weight restrictions. I'm starting to worry I won't drop much of my baby weight off. I know it's only been two weeks but I feel like I was smaller faster with N.
Rants/Raves/Concerns? My 3, almost 4 year old, is driving me up a wall. Never would I have imagined he'd be this naughty. Every day is a battle. He's going to be home for over a week and I hope I can handle it.
GTKY: any TV recommendations for maternity leave TV? I've been basically binging on Christmas movies on the hallmark channel.

Baby is doing awesome. He had lost a lb but is already back up to birth weight. He's 10 days old. He is sleeping 2.5-3.5 hrs a night and is all business when he wakes. He eats, we change diaper, and he's right back to bed. So far no shenanigans but there's plenty of time for that I'm sure. He's really gassy and gripe water has been a life saver. It's almost instant that he gets the gripe water and then farts and is happier.
I'm doing well. Recovery is much easier this go round since I only needed 1 stitch rather than 1 million like with E. I was pretty weepy last week but that has subsided.
E is still driving me insane. I feel bad because I usually have so much patience for him but not right now. He's sassy and not listening at all. I'll be sending him to daycare 2-3x a week rather than the once I thought it'd be. It's for both of our sanity.
I'm watching Gilmore Girls over again.

How old is baby? 10 days old
How is baby doing? She is doing great! She’s back over birth weight as of her 1 week appointment. Last night she gave me 1 3hr stretch and then 2 1.5-2hr stretches. Long nights but we’ll get there.
How is mama doing? Still pretty tearful at times and overwhelmed. Bc V is doing so well I feel really good about our switch to FF. With how much formula she already puts away I’m certain I wouldn’t have been able to keep up with her needs if I continued to nurse. I do have some Mom guilt that 1 terrible cluster feeding session on night 1 at home made me switch, but I think overall, for my mental health, it was a good decision.
Rants/Raves/Concerns? With DH returning to his deployment I really wish I could just skip over Christmas. We’ve been lucky that this is our first Christmas apart, but with everything happening this month it just doesn’t feel like Christmas to me at all. I’m trying to get in the spirit since DD1 kind of understands it this year, but it’s not easy. Luckily I finished all my wrapping a couple of weeks ago.
GTKY: any TV recommendations for maternity leave TV? I just finished shameless which was pretty funny. I’ll probably catch up on shows I’ve been missing.

My dr thought my redness was due to an allergic reaction but after my walk tonight I just looked at it and the incision there broke open and was bleeding. Given what what the blood looks like and now it feels like less pressure, I’m pretty sure it was a bit of infection. So now I get to call him tomorrow and find out if I need to be on any antibiotics or anything and hopefully get an answer before the holiday.

How old is baby? 2 weeks 5 days
How is baby doing? Pretty good. We actually had our 1 wk appt and don’t go back until 2 months which is crazy, but with the holidays I guess I’m ok. He’s already pretty much out of newborn diapers and newborn clothes are tight. He’s been giving me one 3-4 hour stretch each night plus some 2.5s so I’ll take it.
We are battling baby acne. The doctor said to just put a small amount of aquaphor on it since his skin is really dry.
How is mama doing? Pretty good. I’m really tired. I want to start walking again soon but homeboy has been cluster feeding during the days a lot. I still have one really sore spot where my stitches were but it just hurts to wipe and it’s just been recent.
Rants/Raves/Concerns? I’m just tired of the cluster feeds:being used as a paci some days. We did introduce a paci but he knows the difference so there’s a 50/50 shot he will take it.
GTKY: any TV recommendations for maternity leave TV? Since H is still home he’s been subjecting me to CNBC, the Waltons, and Matlock. But he did get a job offer and goes back January 9. I’m lucky he got to be home 5 weeks of my leave. When he goes back I’ll probably just watch cheesy movies.

Baby is 2 days old, and in the middle of our first night home. After sleeping like a champ all day, he does not seem to want to go down in the bassinet. He’s due for another feeding in an hour or less so maybe after that? I am doing ok. N has a minor tongue tie that is making breastfeeding difficult so we’ve been giving him formula because I am too worried he’s not getting what he needs from me. I’m trying to not freak about it (my nephew had a worse case and he is 18mo now and is perfectly fine). But I keep seeing how bf’ing is so great for the baby and I feel guilty. Our first pedi appointment is tomorrow and they are getting me in with one of their lactation nurses too so hoping once we get to the bottom of the tie we can either BF more or at least pump and get milk in a bottle. (The lactation nurses at the hospital were also great but I felt very overwhelmed, especially when it was still hard to get out of the bed.) Apologies for the tmi but that first pp poop was a nightmare, especially after what happened to me after labor. My parents are here until Christmas Day, and they (and H!) are amazing. I finally got to shower today too. I am trying to stay positive, but this first night is going to be long, I think. Good thing he’s cute 😜 - here he is “watching” Charlie Brown earlier tonight:

veganontuesdays, I'm sending N to day care three days a week and the other two days he has preschool in the morning. I have a lot of guilt about it and as much as I love N, he is really difficult to be around right now. So, you have my sympathy and I totally understand what you are going through. I have been told by many people things do get easier and I'm hoping that happens sooner rather than later. babydsmama, try not to let FF bother you. She's being fed and you're in a much happier place and that's all that matters. rooskie, I hear ya about being a human pacifier. Sometimes my boobs just need a break. And cluster feeding is the WORST. Even when E has a good latch, cluster feeding always leads to me getting sore again. cakewench, hang in there girl. The first few nights are always tough. N never liked being put down either.

I'm so behind and finally just caught up! Re daycare for big kids - L is still going mostly full time (some days we pick her up a little early). I do not feel guilty. It's her routine and with all the change I think it's best to disrupt her as little as possible. cakewench - L had a bad tie and we got it revised at 3 weeks. I had switched to exclusively pump for a day because things got so bad for my poor nipples, but once we got it revised everything got better. If breastfeeding is important to you, I would pump when you give him a formula bottle to keep up your supply as best you can, but if not, try not to feel guilty. No way to feed a baby is perfect, you just have to go with what works best for your family. babydsmama - you have so much going on I think FFing sounds like it was the right choice for your mental health, which makes it the right choice. @ldubhawksmama - I started and am obsessed with the Crown. I'm also rewatching Friends when I don't want to commit to an hour of the Crown.

D is a month old today.
She's doing great! She's a super chunk, probably thanks to my oversupply and her not having a tie like L. She was at 9.55 lbs on Tuesday, and she was 6 lbs 15 oz at birth. 😳
I'm doing better now that she's been stretching out her sleep a little more. We are at 2.75-3.5 hours for most nighttime stretches, which is MUCH better than the 60-90 min between feedings she had for the first few weeks!
I'm sad it took me four weeks to start using the milk saver or haaka when I'm feeding her. I'm getting .5-2 oz from the non feeding breast and I could have had such a stash had I been doing this from day 1. D took a bottle Wednesday so we are going to see Star Wars this afternoon while my sister watches her. Very excited!
As I said previously, totally into The Crown. The acting, the sets, the costuming- so good!! I'm also looking up the actual history after each episode so learning a decent amount about mid century British history.

How old is baby? 11 days How is baby doing? So far he's great. Very calm, eats, sleeps, poops, and that's about it. How is mama doing? Great. Just had my 2 week appointment (early because of Christmas next week.) No more bleeding, haven't taken anything for pain since last Saturday. I'm down 21 lbs of the 45 I gained. I finally feel my family is complete. Rants/Raves/Concerns? DH has had this awful cough since I got home. He's actually around to help this time but I'm keeping the baby away so he doesn't get sick. GTKY: any TV recommendations for maternity leave TV? I have been watching marathons all day-Friends one day, Buying and Selling another. Right now I'm watching The Other Woman. How old is baby? 2.5 weeks
How is baby doing? He's good! He's an eating, sleeping and pooping machine. His favorite place to sleep is on me though, I hope he starts liking the bassinet soon.
How is mama doing? I'm pretty good, but my healing is going a bit slowly. My tailbone hurts whenever I stand up, I'm still bleeding a lot and I haven't dried up yet, despite cabbage leaves, sports bras and avoiding hot showers.
Rants/Raves/Concerns? I guess my rant is about not drying up yet. I would like to enjoy hot showers again.
GTKY: any TV recommendations for maternity leave TV? I'm really into Private Practice right now, it's so good. I'm also watching the Crown.

+1. And he pees out of the newborn diapers now too. Yep that’s when you need to size up. Of course he started doing this right after I opened a box of newborns. I’m pretty sure I’m going to put the unopened pack back in the closet for version 2.0 and find someone to donate the rest of them to.

We aren’t there consistently so I bought 2 more packages of newborn today and then I’ll just go buy some size one Costco next week. I’ve also been lazy on starting up with the cloth diapering, so that will definitely help with the diaper cost if I get my motivation tomorrow!

Last night I nearly got 5 oz with my motn feedings (and at least one use of the haaka to relieve some pressure when he wouldn’t eat on the second boob).

It says sold out in my store, but I think I have a few boxes of 1s in his closet to go through first anyway.
