Also, for my former WLCers, I saw today that they changed the challenge from 8 to 6 weeks. I hadn’t consciously noticed, but I was like, why did I always think it was 8 weeks and it’s only 6. I thought it was 8 weeks on purpose. Previously. Like wasn't there a specific reason about 8 weeks? It was 8 weeks (they said) to give you time to establish good habits, to give you time to mess up and recover, to help you learn to push through when it was hard. Their newer philosophy offers 4 six week challenges per year, they say in order to give you a work phase followed by a rest phase. I’m guessing they got so much feedback on the challenge being too long, and people not wanting to do it for that reason that they decided to change. Plus, the first time I was captain, they told us that the vast majority of people who quit quit between the 4 and 5 week mark, and I am guessing fewer people would quit then if they knew the end was so close. That stretch of the challenge is really mentally difficult.

The stretch really was mentally difficult. But. One of the things I liked about it was I didn't get the "crash diet" vibe. Idk. I'm just babbling.

Some cynics have been voicing the opinion that this allows them to charge people 4 times per year instead of 3. I believe the price is the same. I also like the longer time frame because it really developed those habits and also forces you out of the perfection thing. In 8 weeks, life happens and it forces you to figure out how to be healthy and still participate in life.

I’ll be a cynic here. I definitely think the change was financially beneficial and they’re spinning as an improvement. I honestly believe the 8 weeks was a big turn off to a lot of people and they can get more customers just by shortening the time frame. In addition, since people are less likely to quit, they’re more likely to end the challenge on a high note and recommend it to their friends. The extra challenge per year adds more potential income.
Anyway, I’m not mad at them. It’s a business, and I think their work is good, and I hope they get to make a little money doing it. I also reserve the right to change my mind about that down the road.

What I came to talk about is my own personal struggle, right now. I’ve done really well about getting into the habit of not drinking on weeknights, and it is easy now. I don’t even really think about it.
Tonight is my Friday, and we have a long weekend, and I really want to start the weekend by opening a bottle of wine. And this part is still a struggle. My goal is to only drink one night per week, so I can’t drink both (or all three) nights and still meet my goal, but damn, Friday night still feels like it deserves wine. Last weekend I decided to drink on Friday, because the Friday urge is so strong, thinking I would skip Saturday instead, but Saturday feels like it deserves wine, too.
That’s all. It’s a struggle with the “weekend mentality.”

thisbitch I struggle with the weekend mentality. I decided to give up drinking for January and the first Friday of the month, it was hard to not come home and pour a glass. It was just a habit on Friday to have a glass (among other nights). I definitely struggle with the weekend mentality too. "oh. It's Friday. I deserve take out"

My Noom membership ended just when we were getting to the good part about how to deal with those “triggers.” I did wish that I had gotten to stay around for that part.

AFM, my week was pretty good overall. I feel like I am getting better at my habits, but worse about the habit tracking. I did great except for yesterday, and I had a busy day, but I completely forgot about my tidy up and ATAD. I could have done them, but I literally had one thing after another from 7a to 7p, and then I put the kids down and collapsed. Didn’t even realize I had forgotten.
Also, I feel like at this point, I am pretty firmly established in my fruit or veg with every meal, so I want to change that habit this week to calorie tracking. Not forever, it for a little while to help with consciousness about my food intake (that I hope will lead to weight loss.)

I’m doing good. I am still not biting my fingers/nails. Which I know is a dumb resolution but it was a really awful habit and I’m officially on day 17 of no biting (I started just before the new year). I ate a healthy breakfast and lunch 5 out of 7 days. I can’t decide if this is good enough for me to move on or if I should try this one over again. Thoughts?
I only worked out once this week though which is a bummer so I’m still working on the 3x a week. Maybe once we get back on DS2’s normal therapy schedule instead of this craziness of going 4x a week it will be easier.

thisbitch several times I’ve had to go back and update the tracker because I’ve forgotten. I think as long as the habits are going well it’s okay. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Radley, what is your true goal for breakfast? What do you want in your heart of hearts- to eat a healthy breakfast most of the time or healthy breakfast to be so automatic that you don’t even think about it?

Last week's goals:
Eat breakfast - yup, even if some days it was a granola bar Take my lunch - yup Hula hoop twice - I hooped once. I had to bring my hoop in from the frigid cold and it had to get to room temp before I could hoop Do 10 squats each day - yup and some days I did more Use lotion after my shower - yup
This week's goals: Breakfast Take lunch Hula hoop twice (this time I'll do it) 10 squats daily Drink 80 oz water Use lotion after shower Meal plan for next week. This is a big one for me. Usually I'm planning dinners on the way home from work.

We're at Disney, so all bets on resolutions are off. I did get plenty of exercise walking around the Magic Kingdom this afternoon and did my PT exercises. My knee is doing okay with it all so far, which was my hope for the week!

I did good on most things this week. Water is much better now, my face isn't so dry that it feels like it's on fire when I put cream on it, mostly stay within my calories (though I am allowing a little extra allowance these last couple weeks as max effort lifts murder me and I need good recovery right now). Had a couple beers Wednesday since I wasn't working Thursday so technically within my rules but I didn't count it anyway since it's normally a work night.

thisbitch I want to eat well 90% of the time. My next goal would be healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner, so I would still be working on it.

So I finally named my resolution -its "be my own friend." My goal for 2018 is to learn to talk to myself the way I would talk to a friend about her worries/wishes/feelings etc. I think it will be a slow process and I haven't figured out how best to reflect on areas that trigger negative self talk, but awareness is the first step? Thanks for tagging me thisbitch it's nice to be thought of!

I did not stick to my meal plan as much this week, so I have to get back on track with that this week. I kept up with the cleaning and the working out, though.

Hey, TB. I had an okay week last week. I stretched 4 x in the evening and have been much more mindful of spending.
I didn't have any booze til the weekend but my eating was not great. I stress ate due to work.
Onward for this week- I'm still keeping the current habits. I'm not doing well enough to move on yet.

I did pretty well this week.
I read offline every day. I ran 3+ miles 4 days (and worked out in some way 6 days) Yoga 3 days (originally I was aiming for daily, but I think 3-4 is a more realistic goal) Drank at least 64oz water all but one day Stayed on track with eating (doing a slightly modified W30 right now) Spent time on creative projects 3 days
Overall feeling pretty good. I’ve also lost 7 pounds since Christmas, which is definitely motivating to keep going.

I did really, really poorly this week. We were snowed in for 3 days, and I didn’t even try. I just focused on getting through the days, and then it was the weekend. But I am going to Italy in 6 weeks, and I want to feel good for my trip, so I need to get back on track now.

Well I’m still not biting my nails (they are looking nice!) but between a sick kid and being snowed in a few days, everything else was a total fail. I’ll have to start back again Monday.

We were at WDW last week, so I didn’t bother tracking anything other than my steps. I walked at least 6 miles everyday, but also indulged in some delicious food. 🙂

Also, I’m starting weight watchers tomorrow. I’ve been looking at Skinnytaste recipes and meal planning with all of the point free foods. Overall, I’m feeling optimistic about it.

Water has been great. Forgot my face the last couple nights. Whoops. I'm letting my calories slip a bit but weight is still moving the right direction.
My husband needs to stop buying beer during the week.
