How or what are you all doing to put the baby down for his nighttime sleep? With N we did a lot of nursing and rocking. I'm trying to prevent having to hold him constantly and to get him used to sleeping in the PNP. He sleeps really well during the day in the RNP. He has had some stretches of being awake during the day for about an hour here and there.
Our routine so far has been changing his diaper, feeding him about 9:15-9:30, and then swaddling his legs before puttting him in the PNP. He hates having his hands swaddled so we don't bother. But then he's up until about 12 and I usually have to nurse two more times between 9-12. It never fails, he poops and then when we change him he's awake again.
The plus though, is that last night he slept 12-4:15. I fed him again and then he slept from 4:40-7:00. So we got a really great stretch in there. I was just curious what you are all doing.

Diaper change, swaddle, nurse, rocking, lay down. So far he’s pretty chill and once he’s full he settles in. He’s crushing it. It’s the toddler who’s killing us.

"Bedtime" has been between 9:30/10:30. Hands are swaddled by face, and she's in the Bassinest with the infant insert for nighttime sleep. I have yet to get a 3 hour stretch though. This kid just wants to eat CONSTANTLY. At three weeks today, she's nearly 2 lbs over birth weight.

Do you let lay him down awake or already asleep? We have been doing drowsy but awake. We've also been using a pacifier at night but E gets all worked up when it falls out and we have to put it back in. I hear ya about the toddler sleep. N showed up in our bed again last night. I'm hoping that once things settle down and we are in a consistent routine N will also settle down.

This is our routine, too - and then she goes down in the Dock a Tot between us around midnight (she's her most awake between 8 - 11pm) She's relaxed but not asleep when she goes down, and we give her a paci.

We're still trying to get DS used to the basinet. We had it down in the living room for a bit until my mom went home and MH and I took shifts, now it's in his nursery. He doesn't love the bassinet, but I won't have him in the bed with us. I'm hoping he'll get used to it soon.
The shifts work well for us because it means a solid uninterrupted stretch for each of us. It's the constant wake ups that I have trouble with, so the promise of an uninterrupted stretch is everything to me. I realize it only works for us because he's formula fed, but it's nice.

sarahandben108Sometimes he’s awake and sometimes he’s asleep. I don’t worry about any sort of bedtime until after the 4 month regression. If he needs to be rocked to sleep, I just go ahead and do it:

The big killer for me has been E up at 5:30 or 6 b/c MH is getting ready and walking the dog so I have to deal with the toddler. By the time they leave baby is up again.

Do you need the infant insert for the Bassinest? We have the basic Bassinest model, but I didn't even know there was an infant insert available.

I just got it in a fit of desperation to try to make her like the Bassinest more. It's $40 if you have a coupon at Buy Buy Baby and it made me feel like I was doing something to improve her sleep. I wouldn't have gotten it if she slept like my first though.
