We left the hospital at 3pm with a laid back baby and came home with a gassy monster who legit has not left my boob in 8 hrs. Idk what to do. I at least finally have him falling asleep at the breast but I've attempted to put him down 5 separate times with zero luck. *sigh*

Bicycle his legs, and if you're comfortable with it, try the rock n play since it's on an incline. Also - check with your pediatrician but gas drops! If he's really gassy maybe try to get him to take a paci instead of the boob since more milk could upset his tummy more? Hugs, veganontuesdays. Not getting sleep is the worst. Can you trade off with your partner at all possible for burping/rocking so you can get a little bit of sleep? We did that last night and it made a big difference in how much overall sleep I was able to get.

I’m so tired. Cluster feedings here. I’m falling asleep while he is latched.
MIL is pissing me off.
Tomorrow we have our 1 week appt and then my hospitals weekly LC weighed feeding.

My husband is pissing me off. D woke up to eat at 12:45. I put her back in her bassinet at around 1:20. By 2, she's grunt city and husband says he'll change her. He instead goes back to sleep. D does not. I finally poke him 20 min later to please change the kid. He does and then offers to rock her bc maybe she's not hungry. Leaves light on the whole time he's rocking her for 20. The moment he puts her down, grunty finger-licking city. I'm so glad I was able to get all of 30 min of sleep between feedings this time, when maybe if he had just picked her up and changed her to begin with and turned off the damn light before rocking her, it could have been an hour + of sleep for me. 😡
This next cycle better be better. Of course now I feel like I can't hand her off right when she's done feeding because he's been (incompetently) caring for her the last 45 min, so he needs some sleep too. But 😡😡😡😡😡. So. Frustrating.

Sometimes T is so content with sleeping I cannot wake him after the first boob. All my tricks from DD and stripping him down doesn’t work because it’s stipidly warm here right now, so during his walk today it was the first time he’s ever had pants on!
I’m irrationally excited about going to bbb today to buy some milk saver guards since apparently my other boob’s letdown is always going to leak like half an oz to an oz. and trying to prop a cup or use my pumping bra have been effective but annoying AF. I never knew I needed this product and I need it NOW!

Apparently there's something even better than the milk saver called the haaka. So worth investigating. They were talking about it at my breastfeeding group. ldubhawksfan - jealous that you had one that you weren't a milky mess for. I have to switch my breast pads like three to four times a day because it will be soaked through. 😳 Milk saver was huge for me last time - I'd get anywhere from a half ounce to two ounces!

Hmm I saw that and didn’t realize that it could be handsfree. I don’t know that I’m interested in the suction pump aspect of it because I want him to eat on both breasts and not prompt my body to produce more since I tend to overproduce. Hmmmmmmm

Hmmmmmmm I figured if you don't use the pump part, it does the same thing as the milk saver but for about the same price, you have an optional hand pump to have as a spare, or to take the edge off if you're really engorged/uncomfortable (which I do rarely for the same reasons, but I remember there were times with L that I had to get a little off and I was basically hand expressing into the milk saver).

Add my husband to the club about the MOTN. He tries to help out as much as possible, but he is such a baby about lack of sleep. He was complaining last night because E was still awake at 10:00 last night. I finally told him to just go to bed because he was worthless. Granted, N was up at 4:30 and he took care of him in the morning, but it's not like we haven't been up that early before and have stayed up passed 8:00.
Had a doctor's appointment yesterday for E. After 6 days E is already back at birth weight. Which means I don't have to feed every 2 hours anymore. I can feed more on demand. After having his latch evaluated by a LC twice, I have been told he is on the right track of feeding without pain. And I thought we were doing well, until the other night when he cluster fed for three hours. Now my nipples are shit again. One step forward, two steps back.

Guise, he's such a different baby today. Thank the maker. We are actually using gripe water instead of gas drops.

Thanks. Can you please explain that to my nipples though? Our pediatrician said we are good until his first month appointment and that most her patients need to come back after another week because the babies haven't reached their birth weight yet. So, my being anal about making sure he didn't go to far without eating was worth it.

No I appreciate the rec. since they aren’t in a brick and mortar store, I’m still going to get the Avent saver today because I’m impatient, but if this let down is going to be the case all BFing, I may get that as well!

We just finished T’s 1 week appt and he is 4 oz shy of birth weight and our ped wants me to continue every 3 hrs until 9 lbs anyway. We go back in 2 weeks. But he looks good, even with a slight cold from his sister. :/

Had to take L in today for an apt because his levels were elevated for jaundice. Little man has almost lost a pound... we're supplementing with formula until my milk comes in. Another check in Friday. His jaundice wasn't a concern today at least.

FWIW it did eventually calm down for me with L. But it took months - probably close to 4-6? I pretty much wore the disposable breast pads at work for the entire time I was pumping because I was never sure when I'd have a random mid-day let down.

I bought the Avent ones and have collected an oz both feedings and it’s truly handsfree. So worth the $14!!

Thanks. I should have tmi warned. Last CS I had a yeast infection in my urithera from it that monistat cleared up quickly. It hasn’t this time so I’m wondering if it’s a uti, which I’ve never had one. Call in to dr to see what he can do.

After a long first night home with gas and cluster feeding all night I gave V some formula...she’s not really peeing and pooping as much as we would like so for my mental wellness I decided we’re going to FF again. She had her 1st appointment today and was down 8% so we have a weight check Monday. Dr isn’t concerned since we made the switch...she’s been eating about an ounce every 2 hrs today even though she’s pretty sleepy.
