Adding that she hasn’t really acted out in public but did act out the whole tone the PAT lady came over the other day. I had to pick her off the ground crying and screaming. That was fun.

I just gave H a list of all the places we need to go today. He said ok and went back to playing his game. We also need to clean the living room. I'm extremely annoyed.

nellieoleson we are there too. DD1 threw tantrums but they weren’t super bad and I could usually see them coming. DD2 is throwing things, doing what we say no to, hitting, pinching, anything she can to get a reaction out of someone. DD1 is always giving her the reaction she wants. My patience is very thin, add in DD1’s 4-5year old attitude and I’m going crazy.

I was just thinking about it and dd2 probably acts out in public more because she’s forced to do things like preschool drop offs/pick ups and swimming lessons for her sister. When it was only dd1 it was a lot easier to accommodate her moods and schedules. Also, what is PAT?

I know they are behaving normally for their age, but holy crap it’s hard to deal with some days.

PAT = parents as teachers. It’s a program where a person from school district comes into home for pre school age kids and does activities, tells you what benchmarks should be met and does screening. In some areas it’s low income only but as long as they have enough staff they see everyone. She comes once a month and basically just plays and gives ideas for homemade play stuff.

It threw my plan off, because now we have to stop in the middle to pick S up from school, but at least it's getting done.

Today was a good day. Dd2 did better at listening, and I did better at being patient.
And in the Kids Say the Darnedest Things category... we were coming out of the locker room after swimming lessons and there was a woman walking with cane in the lobby. Dd1 says “WHOA. THAT MAN IS REEEEAAAALLY OLD.” So loudly. So so loudly.
The lady just chuckled and said “You’re right. I am really old.”

It turned out to be a nice thing that we picked S up between errands. We went to a garden centre and got a Christmas tree. He was so excited, and asked the guy lots of questions to make sure we got the right one. He is very proud of himself for picking our tree and helping the guy bring it out to the van. We'll decorate tomorrow after school.

nellieoleson, that cracks me up. So funny! I am glad she had a good attitude about the whole thing lollipop, Glad you found a good tree! I saw it on fb and it looks great. We don't do a real tree, sometimes I wish we did, but, the mess, the work, nope. My scrawny fake tree will have to do. I showed our rental tonight and I got 5 applications. We are going to rerent it. Incredible. Apparently the rental market here is insane. I didn't do a lot of research this time and I am quite pleased, but wondering what might have happened if I'd let it ride at a higher price for a bit longer. Oh and I'm meeting with a friend about the real estate gig next week. I'm kind of nervous, but excited at the same time. I also missed ebates 12% back on shutterfly yesterday. Today it was 1% and my shipping code and discounts expired today. Boo.

If you log-in on a computer, everyone that hasn’t uploaded a profile pic has a profile pic of John Travolta walking and turning oddly from the scene in pulp fiction where he walks on the house to pick up uma Thurman. I know this movie too well. I’ve actually hung out with Quentin Tarantino randomly.

Ugh. I can’t sleep because I keep running Xmas eve scenarios through my mind. I really want to go up to my BIL and be like “Let’s be real. You cheated on my sister. You did A, B, C other things. How can we move forward from here?”
I don’t know if I have the guts to actually do that, but the thought of sitting there and pretending like nothing happened makes me fucking sick.

nellieoleson that sucks. I don’t know what I’d do, but I know I wouldn’t have the guts. Keep us posted. Anyone have amazing meal ideas for the next ten days? I’m thinking cheap and easy. I love cooking, but I’m tired.

Dd has a fever boo! They had a case of the flu at her daycare so I really hope it’s not that. We had to cancel on a good friends party tonight, boo. I think I want a pioneer cookbook for Xmas. I will probably never use it but one can dream!!
I met QT in Austin. It was really interesting because Kill Bill was on tv that night and he acted so embarrassed and asked if it was still good with all the editing for tv.

dizzycooks we usually have a fake tree, but ours went all wonky last year, so we would've needed to buy a new one anyway, and decided we might as well go for a real one this year. Now H is talking about going and cutting our own next year. Also I make these a few times a month now, the kids love them, usually, and I just make a salad and garlic bread to go with them, and I use a regular 12 muffin instead of the 24 mini muffin pan pin.it/ahs6w3bfhh3tojETA: they're pizza puffs.

DD3 got the stomach flu and woke up puking at 4:45 am yesterday. It was over by about 10am, but of course we couldn't give her a bottle of milk at bedtime. Obviously that did not go over well with her. Now DH has decided this is the time to break her bottle habit cold turkey. I mean, she gets a bottle but only with water. Objectively I can say he's probably right. But I am exhausted, we have so much going on, he and I both have colds, and I really don't want to deal with this right now. I want to do it at a hypothetical time in the future when we are well-rested and healthy.
ETA: write =/= right
And ps - she screamed for about 30 min tonight before settling down. I went in once and rocked her and rubbed her back, but whenever I tried to get her to lie down, she would start screaming again. Sigh.

crimsonandclover it is so hard to change their routine! Hopefully it’ll go smoother next time. We are totally suckered into getting d3 up earlier than the others and bringing her to our bed. It’s like she knows she’ll get 1:1 time and so she gets up early. Dd2 has a nasty cough and a 100* fever. I dont usually run them to the doctor, but I’m second guessing myself here. Ether today or tomorrow it would be urgent care so it doesn’t matter, but I’m wondering if I should worry or wait. Wwj16d?

dizzycooks we just got over a cough and fever, I didn't take them in. As long as the fever is going down with meds, and the cough isn't croupy I wouldn't bother.

I’d be worrying if it was 102+ dizzycooks - does your ped do nurse call backs or answer questions by email? That’s what I do when I’m trying to decide whether to bring them in or not.

Back to rough toddler issues... we are going through similar stuff with DD as well. I'm trying to figure out if it is the onset of terrible two's - which we never really experienced with DS. Or if this is due to all her sickness these past 6 weeks. She has been on a few rounds of steroids, her sleep is all kinds of messed up between being sick and me traveling and H not really being able to keep to the typical routine. The steroids really really make her cranky and mean and HANGRY! Yet she refuses most food. She seems to be coming out of that now though. And she is now on a 2x daily steroid inhaler that should hopefully prevent or lessen future flareups if she gets sick again. I'm hoping to get back into a sleep routine but also super scared about starting that. She just really gets mad about little things and throws insane fits. Hates riding in the car, yet wants to go all the time. I'm just at a loss. None of it makes sense, which is why I'm crossing my fingers it will resolve itself if she can get healthy. I want my happy silly sweet girl back. We get glimpses but yeah, it's been tough.
