It's cold and snowing. I couldn't turn my head off last night and didn't sleep great.
We are seeing a house tonight after dinner and then tomorrow night we pick up the new car so a relaxing evening is not in our future.

I have a half day of work today and then I need to buy some stamps and start wrapping presents. They will still need to be hidden so DS doesn't constantly yell "open it"

The next two weeks are going to be non-stop. I think the only night this week we are planning on being home and doing nothing is Wednesday. Tonight we go to SIL's house for dinner and to take her some of the baby gear we no longer need.

Copied from FB
A friend of mine texted me yesterday morning saying she has tragic news and didn't want to just call out of nowhere and asked me to call her when I can. I of course immediately called her. I'll back track by saying she and I are friends because our H's worked together and became good buddies and created an app together. They have 2 daughters, a 3yo and a 3 week old. Apparently, Saturday night, her H went to a Christmas party with their older daughter. She heard the car pull in and the door close but after a few minutes, they didn't come inside so she went out to check on them. He was unconscious and not breathing on the ground passenger side of the car and their daughter was still in the carseat. She has no idea what happened but he is gone and my heart is truly broken for her. I offered to help any day or time she needs it but I wish I could do more. We'll attend the wake and H said he will go to the funeral. You just never know when your time is up...
H was just a mess this morning heading off to work. He called his boss yesterday and filled him in so he is assuming an email will be sent out today. Everyone knew he was closest with this guy so he is anticipating a lot of questions that he doesn't have answers to.

Today I call to try to get an appointment! Feeling optimistic!
We also tried a brush/compression technique with s1 this weekend that we learned when he was in OT when he was 2, almost 3. We noticed a pretty big difference in his ability to control his body. It needs yo be done every 90min-2 hours and takes less than 2 min to do. So I’m hoping it can be incorporated into his day. We have an IEP meeting tomorrow. But at one point yesterday afternoon, I told Isaac that he was getting a little to wild and he said “I wannabe brushed. I wanna be brushed because it helps calm my body” so that made me happy.

I’m shipping a bunch of artwork and installation supplies back to NYC this morning, and then heading to the airport to fly home. I know it’s snowy and cold there but I can’t wait to get back.

My mom has been in NYC since Thursday and is coming home today. Of course, I received a notification about an explosion on the subway. They are finishing packing so they can hopefully get to the train station to come home. I hope all our NY people are safe (I know NYC isn't all of NY).

We got a little snow this weekend but I imagine it will be gone (or mostly gone) by the afternoon. But my house is freezing.

DH and I have been having multiple conversations about what to do with after school for Little Bones. His parents have offered to get him off the bus but after DH talked to them last night, they clearly haven't thought it through- they would also need to be available on half days, breaks, etc. etc. They haven't been the most reliable babysitters so I'm really hesitant to move forward on this.
I'm having lost of feelings about this.
I mentioned last night that we probably also want to consider what Littlest is going to think as well- he'll be out enough to understand that Little is going to the grandparents while he has to go to day care.

skinandbones, I am far from caught up, but does Littlest's daycare offer after school care? Our DC also provides after school care for the school aged kids.

Betweenthelines, yeah, there currently day care also offers before/after school care. Part of the reason why we picked them. We don't "need" them to do this. They have offered but I'm not sure they have really thought it through. DH also spoke with them last night and I'm not even entirely sure they have really thought it through together.

skinandbones, that would be a no brainer for me.. If they already aren't the most reliable, I would just go with the DC option.

So we were leaving the children's museum yesterday and there was an older bearded gentleman sitting on a bench outside. DS (almost 5) yells "hi Santa" at this random guy. I cracked up. The guy was surprised for a second but then laughed and told DS to make sure he's being good. Somehow this was even funnier given that we are Jewish. My kids have been working hard this year to figure out the whole xmas/Santa thing since that's not what we celebrate. Apparently now every bearded old guy is Santa, lol!
