How old is LO? 2 weeks tomorrow
How's everything going? Meh. We’re mostly supplementing at this point. I do still latch her on, but it’s mostly for comfort at this point. And always with a shield now. But other wise she’s gaining ok.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share?
0-1mo: Is this your first experience BF? What's one reason why you want to BF? Baby 3 and I’ve never been able to BF any of my kids. It’s very heartbreaking. I’d love to BF so I don’t have to pack bottles or plan how long I’m going to be gone to make sure I bring enough.
1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes?
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I do pump 5 times a day. I pump a meagre 0.5 oz each time.
GTKY: what’s your go to comfort book/movie/song/tv show? Friends

0-1mo: 11 days old Is this your first experience BF? Yes
What's one reason why you want to BF? Cost savings and after 9 years without a dishwasher I had no desire to wash bottles every day lol
1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? Haven't tried it, ds gas latch issues so mostly pumping for us.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? It's going. I feel like feeding/ pumping is such a process. Start to finish it's 45 min-hour. Hopefully my hands free pumping bra will help cut out some time.

How old is LO? 6 days
How's everything going? Ok so far. I have the 60 Second sizzle upon latching, but my nipples are in much better shape than they were with DS.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share?
0-1mo: Is this your first experience BF? No, I BF my DS until he was 2yr 10mo.
What's one reason why you want to BF? Bonding
1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? I haven't really gone out yet, but I bf DS everywhere under the sun with no problems. I imagine this time will be the same.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I SAH, so I don't pump.
GTKY: what’s your go to comfort book/movie/song/tv show? Sadly don't have one at the moment. Need to get into a routine that includes more me time!

DD2 will be 2 weeks old on Wednesday (which was the original date for my RCS). Things are going better than they were with DD1 at this point, but with the big exception that DD1 slept MUCH longer stretches (like I couldn't wake her before 4 hours had passed at night) so DD2 is driving me bonkers with her inability to go longer than 90-120 min between feeds. We have a weight check tomorrow to see if she's back to birth weight, and I have the local nursing meet up as well, which will be my first one. LC visit on Thursday. DD2 is a sleepy eater, but given my oversupply, she's getting plenty. She never triggered a let down at my first LC visit and took in 3 oz. Given that she eats more than 12 times a day, I'm really wondering where she's putting all this milk. FX her weight is good tomorrow or I'm really going to be puzzled. Second experience BFing. I nursed DD1 until I needed to wean to conceive DD2 (around 20 months). BFing is important to me for autoimmune reasons - I have a whole host of autoimmune issues and both my girls were C-sections, so I want to make sure I'm doing what I can to reduce their risk of issues. Plus as a gestational diabetic both pregnancies, I'm into the research showing nursing can be protective against type 2 risk. Also for general immune issues - DD1 is in daycare and DD2 will join her in the spring so I want to make sure I do what I can to keep them as healthy as I can. I was also lucky last time in that nursing helped take the baby weight off, so I'm hopeful it will work again. So, lots of reasons! Like snuff9861, Friends would be the one show I would describe as a comfort show.

snuff9861 - I'm sorry your nursing experience has been so heartbreaking. Have you checked in with an LC to see if there's anything they could do to help? It's so frustrating when our bodies won't cooperate (I don't know what low supply is like given I have the opposite problem, but given my history with pregnancy loss, I am very familiar with the feels that my body is not doing a thing it "should" and how much that sucks).

12 weeks today!
We are still doing good! She’s still a gassy baby but her latch is much better than it was.
I don’t mind nursing in public, I just find it awkward to position baby well when I’m not in my usual spot. I know this gets easier as they get older though.
I SAH so not much pumping.
GTKY: Favorite go to tv show is Buffy. I love throwing an episode on when I’m exhausted because I’ve seen it enough I can just tune out and let my brain chill.

How old is LO? 8 weeks How's everything going? Good! Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? I forgot how nice it is to be able to offer the boob after a series of shots. Insight brought to you today by the 4 sticks LO got. 1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? I don’t really do it I don’t feel comfortable as a teacher in a small community where everyone knows everyone. If I have to nurse, I’ll do it in my car under a cover. If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I’m pumping the left boob twice a day because I got lazy and that side took a hit. I need to up my water intake and not be lazy about eating but sometimes going back to sleep has taken precedent over eating after I get DD1 out the door with H in the AM. GTKY: what’s your go to comfort book/movie/song/tv show? I always seem to be drawn to the HP movie marathons that always seem to be on.

Hi! I’m from N17 but baby decided to show up in December How old is LO? 5 days! How's everything going? I am an experienced breastfeeder (18months with DS1) but at the same time I feel so new. I’m using a shield on one side- sometimes both if I’m engorged so that’s a new, messy experience. Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? My milk came in around day 3 or 4 and last night I got really really engorged- I don’t know want to stimulate oversupply so I’m trying to only pump down to comfort. At the same time I’m really worried about clogs and mastitis so I already have 10oz for the stash- not just from last night I’ve had to pump at least once everyday since we’ve been home. I have the laniosh Therapearl- but I’m torn between using them cold or hot. I can’t quite tell if I have clogs or swelling... 0-1mo:Is this your first experience BF? Nope What's one reason why you want to BF? Health, bonding, and money. If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I’ll be returning to work after 12 weeks GTKY: what’s your go to comfort book/movie/song/tv show? Harry Potter- books and movies

jules1614 totally normal to use the therapearls hot & cold during these early weeks, depending on how you’re feeling at the moment. Have you tried reverse pressure softening to help baby latch when engorged? At least on the side you don’t usually use the shield? It’s a method of pushing the extra fluid away from the areola to soften the breast at the latch point. kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mother/rev_pressure_soft_cotterman/

I don’t know if I feel as passionate about that topic as many do, but I’d probably say team Angel. Is this the right answer?!

How old is LO? 3 days
How's everything going? It’s going ok. Milk started to come in yesterday and his good latch went to hell with my fuller boobs. By the second night he was down almost 10%, so like dd, they had me pump some colostrum and SNS it back to him. We pumped twice and I got like 80 ml, so that supplemented 4 feedings and last nights weight was back up to only 7.5% lost! I’m done pumping for a few weeks now.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? He is such a sleepy eater! I love newborn snuggles after nursing.
0-1mo: Is this your first experience BF? No What's one reason why you want to BF? Cheaper, bonding. I loved BFing, but totally forgot how much of a PITA and daily change newborn nursing is.
