That's awesome. My milk has already come in and in my large state I think E doesn't latch great right now. I'll find out later if he's gained anything yet. B has this issue if I only offer one side at a feed, but he will sometimes take one side for like half an hour then pass out. At what point is everyone starting to pump? I wanted to wait awhile but I think I’ll be more confident leaving the house with him if I do have a bottle of BM with us. We stayed home all week this week but are talking about running a bunch of errands Monday. With DD my LC recommended 3 weeks. It’s late enough that your body has started to figure out it’s regulation and it won’t engorge, but early enough to introduce a bottle and not confuse LO. It worked great for us. She said you are likely to produce the most hormone that produces BM at night, so she had me do my first pump session after the first morning feeding. Then I used those 2-3 oz for the nighttime bottle DH would give every evening; during which I would pump. You have to pump in place of any feeding. We did that nightly to give dh a chance to bond and gave me a break.

rooskie, I'll probably wait about a month before pumping. Then I'll start to pump once in the morning to begin my freezer stash for when I go back to work.

Honestly I start pumping right away. But, just enough to take the edge off my over-producer boobs. I’m trying to pump 2 or so ounces extra a day. With DD I pumped way too much extra b/c I was worried and I wanted to get a stash. I wound up donating quite a bit. I’m trying to keep the oversupply down.
I only offer one boob a feed and it has worked for us so far. The latch gets better. We’ve gotten to the point I can nurse him one handed now.
