I might have an idea. I have the video, kinda, because I posted it in a Facebook secret group. I can’t figure out how to save the video to my phone (you’d think it’d be possible considering I posted it) but I will try to use my kindle tomorrow and record it by playing it on my phone. Then I’ll try to Pm it to you both

@esg what’s weird is they’d only happen at nap. Never actually at night.

Is Sesame Street still on regular TV? I feel like I remember a change but not sure what the details were. It first runs on HBO and then later on PBS. And there are past seasons on Hulu. We have the HBO app so we do see the episodes when they first run.

I don’t have much going on, just coming by to say hello. I’m kind of running on auto pilot for the past week. I forgot what this newborn haze feels like.

easternshoregirl so with M it does not seem to be a night terror. It has been happening at all wake ups at home for about the past two weeks, morning and naps. He never wakes in the middle of the night (knocks on wood). I was wondering if it might have something to do with the transition from being asleep to being awake. I want to start tracking any other possible trends. So it is definitely a tantrum, he is screaming, then throws himself on his bed, start hitting his head, and targets something hard (makes sure he hits the rails on the crib, not just the mattress). It is pretty upsetting to watch him really get into it. You cannot pick him up and console him, he just thrashes and tries to continue to hit himself or his head. So we try to just keep him safe, give him some space (I usually will sit on the floor or lay on the ground beside his bed) and will try to say calming statements, and offer to give him a hug when he needs it. Sometimes he starts throwing his studies and soother etc. Out of his bed. We are trying to ignore most of the behaviour (these tantrums can also happen throughout the day, for a variety of reasons). His go to when upset is head banging, will go to the a hard floor surface lay down and hit his head. This morning DH went in, he was crying and then started with the tantrum, so we walked out to try to ignore it, and he stopped! It was the first time that happened so quickly! Then he started asking for me. I went in to get him, he was calm and came with me easily. He had a great morning, until drop off at dc. He got mad about taking his coat off (or something) and when we went into the class he flopped on the floor and banged his head. I think it was the first time the teachers had witnessed the head banging. He seems to stop a little bit quicker lately when we ignore it (so hard to do when he bangs it so hard), and then will come over saying “owie’ and ask to kiss it better. Like I said it can be intense. You have all my sorry’s if it is similar to E. I am really concerned about what this might look like when he transitions to a regular bed after the move. I hope it gets better.

redandblue- so many hugs to you. I didn’t realize the severity of M’s tantrums.

Thanks mrspiatt. It is definitely hard to watch and comfort him. He did do some head banging a few months back, but seemed to stop, so I'm hoping this will be another phase. But it is hard. I am going to keep tracking and monitoring, while hoping it gets better. I was bothered that the ped was so dimissive about it.

taketheshot how far are you Riverdale? I just finished episode 10, with the home coming dance. I'm laughing because the dress that Betty is wearing is almost identical to the dress I wore for my grade 8 graduation! Lol (mine was red, but off the shoulder, with a high/low skirt).

redandblue - perhaps instead of going into his room and directly to him; when he wakes up, open the door and ask him if he's ready to get up yet. If not let him know you will keep the door open and he just needs to let you know when he's ready. It sounds like he might not be ready to get out of bed as soon as he wakes up. I hope it stops soon, the hitting his head on hard surfaces makes me cringe.

Mh said it sounds like they were lazy. If it was accessible, they shouldn't have had a problem unless something wasn't up to code. ETA did you pay for installation? They are reimbursing me for installation. It was from Home Depot and they outsource the installation. Apparently they switched their company policy and are not allowed to do the install. The line was right there. It wouldn't have been any more difficult for them to hook it up how it was rather than having the line run right next to it. I have to go back through the instructions from Home Depot but I don't remember reading anything about making sure the shut off valve is under the sink. It just said accessible. At least you're getting reimbursed for it.. But I'd still be pissed. I'll send H over to install it.

redandblue, J will sometimes do something similar when waking when he hasn't had enough sleep and is still tired. A lot of times, the only thing to soothe him is one song that we pull up on Youtube. I have not idea why that song is calming to him, but it works. I also just hold him and let him thrash and kind of sway until he calms down. I'm sorry, I'm sure it's frustrating to watch and to try everything and not have it work. I hope he pulls out of it soon.

Oh redandblue that is rough. Thanks for sharing, it is helpful to hear that others are going through rough times with toddler behavior too. Our situation is definitely different with the night wake ups mostly being our problem but I hope this passes for both of us soon.

Today is our Christmas season opener!! All the egg nog and decorating tonight!!
DD has a fever so I got called to get her from daycare yesterday. She's not throwing up or anything, just wants to watch TV and lay around. I kept DS home from daycare too and the non driving around is sooooo nice.I have got so much work done from home (granted that's only because the kids don't want to actually do anything). But it essentially frees up like 4 hours of my day to not commute so it feels like I have the day off.
I have some crafting to do for my sister's parties this weekend. Spray painting the champagne flutes gold today!

So tired of food battles.
The appointment for s1 on Tuesday will not go well. My scale is a POS every time he steps on it it says something different then errors out. I’m fairly certain he weighs less than 50 pounds. That’s 2-3 lbs in 1.5 months. Not good.
His spec ed teacher has been trying to work with him and they came up with a list of foods Isaac will eat for lunch. Apparently he no longer likes sandwiches. (He’ll eat them at home). I mean I knew he was not eating sandwiches at school because it comes home. Along with the rest of his lunch. What is on the list of pancakes (I guess she’s able to heat them) guess who is refusing to eat pancakes currently. She also said he would like smoothies. So I’m ordering a thermos that should keep it cold. Worth a try. I make him one for breakfast most morning because it’s an easy way for me to pack In calories.
My guess is..... They will either stop all meds until we can get him to swallow that one pill or change to something else. But as I’ve said before. I do not believe the meds are doing this. So changing won’t make a difference

jedi, keep trying until you find something! I think my friend's kid lived for years on mini-bagels smeared with Nutella. I'm not even kidding. I don't know if he was ever actually diagnosed with SPD but there were definitely some issues going on that they worked a lot on. I think he'll eat more things now. He is about 9 years old.

Heading to open gym with the kids in a little bit and then probably some shopping with my mom this afternoon. Lots of pie making tonight. I'm DH's sous chef for the pies. We're making apple, pumpmkin, and chocolate cream pie.

Sadly, no. We ended up not going to that brewery. I, for some reason, decided to double-check yelp reviews right before going and the place went under new management recently and in the last 2 weeks was getting terrible reviews. We went elsewhere. So instead of spiked shakes, I went to 711 before the movie and brought 2 tall boys in my pockets for the movie. Win win.

jedi, smoothies definitely seem like a good way to get calories and nutrients in. You can add peanut/almond/sun butter, and greens and mask the taste with fruit, cocoa powder, etc.
