Thank you all so much! Sorry I've been so woefully neglectful of this thread, today has been exhausting. Who knew? Please accept this picture of Ro.bin Al.ice doing her best late night Professor X impersonation as my apology. I will hopefully post my birth story here tomorrow, right now it is time for snuggles.

Birth Story:
Arrival-
DH and I arrived at the hospital at 5pm on 10/25. I was immediately admitted to a room and set up with a gown, monitors, and IV portal. They tried unsuccessfully to place the portal in my left hand, so they had to stick me again in my right. This extra sucked because I'm right handed, which meant I was hyper aware of it and had limited use of my hand. After talking with my doctor, it was decided that I would not start my cervix meds until midnight because I was already 3cm and 60% efaced. And also she probably didn't want to chance having to deliver in the wee hours of the morning. DH and I spent our time waiting eating CFA, watching food Network Halloween Wars, and napping.
Labor-
I was given my cervix pill at midnight. Consistent contractions started almost immediately after. They weren't bad at first, just annoying enough that I couldn't sleep. Along with a few other inductions, quite a few women were admitted for spontaneous labor. At one point, I was one of 9 people on the contraction monitor. Mine were the prettiest, obvs. By the time I decided I needed pain meds, my nurse was in another delivery. I also had to take in a full bag of fluids through my IV before they would administer, so I waited almost 2 hours. Things were pretty terrible during that time, but got much better after my visit with the anesthesiologist at 5am. Pitocin was started around 6am and my ob broke my water at 9am. I was rolled from one side to the other every 30 minutes or so with my legs wrapped around a giant peanut shaped medicine ball to encourage her to move down. I went from 4-5cm to 10 in about an hour and a half.
Delivery-
I was given an oxygen mask to wear about 10 min before it was time for me to push because the baby wasn't a fan of my stronger contractions. During my last check, her head was visible, so my OB was quickly called into the room along with a handful of other nurses for DD2 and I. DH took his spot right next to my left shoulder, holding my hand, and studied the medical equipment nearby. DD1's birth taught him that a more active position is not great for his constitution, which I totally get because birth is gross. It's time to push and it's terrible. There is a noticeable difference is pushing out a 33 weeker compared to a 36, sorry for the bad news. However, I was surrounded by a lot of very encouraging people and she was out under 10 min.
Things Get Messy-
They then cleaned her off on my stomach, which was new for me. My other two were immediately whisked away for testing because of their prematurity, so I've never had that moment before. They eventually took her away after a few minutes at my OB's request because she was so curious to see how big she was measuring. 7lbs 10oz and 22" of baby steel, everyone in the room was very impressed. I was just happy she was under 8lbs. The nurse brought her back over and tucked her into my gown for some skin to skin while the Dr. finished up down below. No tearing, my vagina lives! Huzzah!
But it soon became apparent that things were not quite right. It was hard for me to keep my eyes open and I began to shake slightly. Faces around me started to look concerned, my bleeding wasn't slowing down or stopping like it should. DD2 was given to DH, who had been dutifully documenting her first moments. My doctor began pulling out clots and using her hands to scrape out more bits and blood. I was constantly shaking at this point with no way of controlling it, I was also freezing. They inserted another IV to give me more fluids to increase my blood volume, I struggled to stay coherent. The timeline from my perspective is pretty fuzzy around this point, but eventually they get the bleeding under control. I'm covered up with at least ten blankets because my core temp has dropped, as I try to will my shaking to stop to no avail. My body is in shock and remains in such a state for about 2 hours post delivery.
During all of this, DH is an absolute champ and completely takes over all baby related things. He holds her almost the entire time and gives DD2 her first bottle, which she totally destroys. He's never more than a few feet away from me, supporting me and making sure I can still see DD2 even though I can't hold her. Major daddy/husband/human being points.
Postpartum-
I eventually fall asleep. When I wake up, the shaking has stopped, but I still feel like hell. My nurses are wonderful and take excellent care of me. I ask for saltines and water to help line my stomach before I take my pain meds. Unfortunately, they both come back up, but at least it was before I took the pills. I give it another go, everything stays down, and they bring in a new bet to move me to my PP recovery room. The nurses were planning on moving me themselves, but I decide I'd like to try and walk. My legs feel like lead from the epi, but I make it to the bathroom for them to remove my second catheter, which they had inserted after delivery due to all of the fluids they were giving me. Sidebar: my kidneys received so many compliments on their efficiency. I'm deemed well enough to move to my new room in a wheelchair rather than a bed, so we head out, hours after I would have normally moved.
My bleeding has been under control since moving to the new room. The last 36 hours have been filled with nurse checks, naps, and bad TV. I'm so very grateful for modern medicine, a capable and supportive health team, and my amazing husband. I do still think there is something that can be done about the advancement of IV and medical tape technology, but I'll take what I can get now.
Thanks for reading!

Goodness...the bleeding stuff must have been so scary but I’m glad they were able to get it under control relatively quickly.
I’m not so stoked about the pushing out of a (near)term baby vs 33ish week. That currently remains my biggest fear. However, if you can do it with no tearing with your tall, solid girl I have hope!
Fingers crossed you all get out of there today and can start your life as a beautiful family of 5 all together.
Congrats again. She’s wonderful and you did great!

I wasn't paying that much attention, but my OB mentioned something to one of the nurses about having me not push after a certain point and just pulling the baby out to prevent tearing. IDK, it worked, praise be. I believe in you and your vagina!
