Happy Monday y’all! I was asking about meals in the last thread bc I’m in. Charge of coordinating meals for new moms in my mops group. I’m trying to create a list of easy, cost effective, ideas. I’m baking a chicken and stuffing dish. We provide a veggie and bread to go with whatever the mom prepares so aides aren’t a problem. I’m also planning on suggesting a few breakfast ideas.

lollipop - Florida! That would be a crazy change. I don’t think I would do it, if I were you - unless it was an incredible pay raise that made it impossible to pass up. You would be so far from family, and it wouldn’t be easy to fly back and forth for visits. I would worry about you being there with no support network.

The more I think about it, I don't think I'd go for it even.if he wasn't. Because you're right, we'd have no support network, and it would be next to impossible to see our family, unless the job came with like double H's current pay. And even then, I think Florida has a way higher cost of living than where we are now.

lollipop that would be a crazy move. We have the option of Florida in a few years too and I’m just not there yet. I may not have a lot of support, but it’s sure nice to know people.

Dh asked me yesterday what we would do if his pay doubled and I straight up told him I would not want to be working. I see no reason to run this zoo and have a ft job if our needs are more than met. He didn’t seem surprised, lol.

We want to fly to Florida in February, but right now it is looking like $1100 a ticket... and an all day flight with a plane change. We could fly to a different airport for less, but Then would have an all day flight and then a 5 1/2 hour drive, which sounds like hell. There are so many places I’d rather go than Florida for that much money and effort, so I think we are scrapping those plans. Not to mention you would get the added bonus of going through immigration every time. Woo hoo!

Dd2 is being an absolute hellion today. I was hoping she would be in a better mood after her nap, but nope. Half of me thinks I should get us out of the house and maybe that would help, but the other half is terrified to take her anywhere.

Domestic flights, especially ones going back east, cost a fortune. I know it's possible to get flights to like Disneyland and Vegas and places like that for about half what it costs to fly to NB. ETA: they would be long though. I wouldn't want to do it with the kids on any sort of regular basis

lollipop did you guys talk last night?? It’s a beautiful sunny day here, but the high is about 40. I’m freezing. I have a pan of chicken and stuffing ready to go for dinner with squash and salad. I really want to make cookies, but apple crisp or pie seems more appropriate. I disinfected my whole kitchen with thieves cleaner this morning. It might be messy again, but I trust the surfaces are germ free at least!

Tonight is dh’s game night. He’s been able to put dd down lately. We still plan to make crib into b d but have been really busy. Needs to happen soon!
Halloween is almost her ! We have a bday party this weekend and I forgot it was costumes..... not sure what we will do. Will prob just put dd in a costume because I’m lazy (it’s a 2 yo bday party).
Dd has a cheerleader outfit a friend gave us for college football games so I’ll prob be lazy and just use that as her Halloween costume. I feel bad because I wanted to do something cool like rocket scientist but I’m a bad planner / lazy. How many times have I said lazy in this post ha

Omg I sit in the rocking chair in dds room with her asleep on me forever trying to transfer her to her crib. When I went to stand up, my knee area was asleep and I fell down. It was not scary as I cradled her and we were ok. It was kind of like a slow motion sitting down on the ground. It was more like.... are you kidding me?! She said no and crawled around but then I put her in her bed and she stayed asleep! Good times in momland.

I think we’ve talked a little about this here and there and I remember some but QOTD: What are your Littles dressing up as on Halloween? S is being a goblin, inspired by pathfinder, d&d, and warhammer. M is being a princess, because of a) the Disney movie, and this is probably my only chance to make them a matched set, and b) it was the first thing we found that for over her bulky sweater without looking lame

I think I have a unicorn, a fairy, and a ladybug over here. It’s a lot of glitter, tulle and wings. 😂 lollipop I’m glad he’s messing with you. I found out my dh May have a trip to San Fran in December and I really want to go with. I don’t know what I’d do with the littles though. Anyone wanna babysit for three days??

Halloween costumes are Anna and Elsa from frozen. Dd2 originally wanted to be a bald eagle, and I was going to have dd2 be a bluebird, but we randomly went to Target on a day they had costumes 40% off and they wanted those. DONE. lollipop - yeah, the costumes aren’t going to look great with a coat over them here either. The Anna one won’t be so bad, but the Elsa one... I don’t know what we will end up doing.

@kelltothekell - IIRC you are a lawyer? How did you manage your poor planning and “laziness” through law school?
I always had problems with planning, following through, and procrastination. I’ve only started getting better about it the last few years - basically since I had kids. I’m always interested in hearing how other people deal with those tendencies.

nellieoleson we're putting her sweater under the costume. Same goes for S. I've never seen the point in putting on a costume and then covering it up with a coat or snowsuit. So we buy them big enough or stretchy enough to fit warm stuff under them.

Hi, I'm alive over here! I survived the week away but am gearing up for another week away next week. I also had my first appt and got to see baby 2 and a strong heartbeat. I'm very relieved.
My LO is going to be a fish (like Nemo). He has a party at preschool and apparently the kids are supposed to bring treat bags for each other? I hope that's not expected for every party - they seem to have a lot!
Re moving, it would be hard to be away from family, but I'm all for warmer weather! I'm used to living away from family though. And my LO is a good flier, but I'm not sure what we're going to do when we have to pay for his plane ticket. Maybe stop flying lol.

Yeah I never studied that much. I’ve always been able to maximize output with minimal effort in school, lol. It caught up to me in law school and my grades weren’t great but didn’t stop me from graduating 😀 I’m also a huge procrastinator but seem to have a better hold on that in the working world than the academic world.

Regarding how I deal with procrastination now, I leave the things that have to be done that week to the end of the week and then I just get them done. So I deal with procrastinating by procrastinating I guess. I’m bad.

So much going on over here. I survived the week from hell. DS did amazing as the ring bearer in my friends wedding. Dd came down with a fever last night and we have an unexpected house guest for a week. It’s H’s best friend and his Mom is very ill. As far as house guests goes he’s one of a handful of people that I am cool with as a house guest any time. Otherwise, no thank you!

scorpioscuba I honestly can't think of a single person that I wouldn't mind as a house guest. At least not for more than like one night. I think maybe it's because of my social anxiety, my house is where I go so I don't have to socialize and be around people. It's like my hiding place, and I really do not like having people in it. I feel like people are judging my housekeeping and decorating and finding them lackin or something too.

My dad just told me that Kwanzaa and Hanukkah are different names for Christmas. Now, he's usually a fairly smart guy, so I looked at him like he was crazy, and he elaborated saying that he knew they were different religions, but that they were all variations on the same theme. And he looked at me like I was just arguing for the sake of arguing when I tried to correct him.

lollipop that is crazy! I don’t know what I’d say. They all celebrate very different things at a similar time of year. That’s a head scratcher.... @kelltothekell I am a planner, but I tend to plan too much which leads to procrastination and not accomplishing my goals. I live by my to do lists. In fact I just wrote it up for tomorrow bc we have very little on the schedule and I have so much that needs doing around the house. Plus the kids need a down day. This week has been crazy.
