It's a new week. Sleep complaints go here. I'm sleepy. my kid still wakes up multiple times a night. i try not to complain though because i chose not to do something that would i'm sure fix the problem, CIO. I need to do the jay gordon method again. that really helped get a large block of sleep going. ETA: Now that I think about it, i'm probably sleepy because i stayed up until like 1am watching Teen Mom 2 and Ink Master, lol.

You guys, I’m am stressing out!
We leave tomorrow for an extra long weekend at a cabin on the Washington coast. My H has been working on that crazy Abercrombie job and hasn’t been around at all. He’s actually sleeping right now because he worked until 4 or 5 am. He is working again later today and won’t be home until 3 am-ish.
So. I’m trying to tidy up our house because it’s a disaster of toy disorganization, and I hate coming home to a messy house. I also need to pack for me and both girls. And pack toys. And go grocery shopping and pack food to bring.
So much to do. And I’m so tired. And my kids keep making messes everywhere. And I don’t even know what I want to bring for meals to have up there.
Ugh! It’s supposed to be a vacation but it just feels like a bunch of extra stress at this point.

Speaking of messes, this is what dd2 did while I typed that last post.

nellieoleson, i cleaned up toilet paper off my bathroom floor about five minutes ago, lol. try to take a breath. i recommend sitting down and listing everything out by priority then focus on what's most important and go from there. it may seem less daunting to break it up by task. i hope you enjoy your trip! Sounds really fun!

nellieoleson have fun! I'm a crazy person before we leave for a trip. Everything HAS to be put away or I will have a mental breakdown when we get back.

I don't know what I would do if I still wasn't getting full nights sleep after this long. I mean, can you guys sleep train?

kittenmittens he looks sooo big! How is that your baby??! Rare is the full night sleep here. We've sleep trained, but a big will wet her bed have a nightmare, fall out of her bed, the baby gets teeth. It's a terrible combo really. Maybe in five more years??

Sleep training has been basically a 9 month journey for us but I think we are finally getting somewhere. It's not perfect. But we are in a much better place than we were with DS at this age.

I have made pretty good progress on my to do list today. I am definitely not going to have time to make the broccoli cheddar soup I wanted to have ready for tomorrow night, but everything else is looking good.
Since I’m on vacation tomorrow that means tonight is pretty much a weekend, right? I kind of want a drink to sip on while I finish packing, but don’t want to break my “only drinking on weekends” rule.

You've earned a drink. And in your original post you called it an "extra long weekend" so definitely a weekend night for you! Cheers!

I am still not getting a full nights sleep here. DD2 wakes up pretty predictably 3-4 times a night. On good nights it's 3 times. She ends up in my bed half the night because I am just tired!! I have a really hard time with sleep training. When my husband is on day shift he gets up at 330am. So I can't let her crying wake him up because he doesn't get much sleep. When he's on nights I let her cry more but he comes to bed at 5am and I can't let her cry after that. So I basically only have his days off week or randomly when he's working 2 weeks.

scorpioscuba, I'm glad you're feeling better. nellieoleson, have a fun weekend! dizzycooks, remind me when you're due? Feeling any better? kittenmittens he looks so big! I can't bring myself to cut my guy's hair yet. Here's a pic from a wedding we went to a couple weeks ago. Most days it ends up in a man bun. Poof

Dh took tomorrow off. He hasn't had a day off at home in....I don't even know when he last did. He took time off for our mini vacation in July. I'm curious how he spends his day tomorrow.

kcrkcs, I've found that sometimes a minor freak-out can go a long way. If my DDs see that I'm really scared about something, then it makes a big impression on them - bigger than if I tell them for the 100th time not to do something. I save the big reactions for very serious things where one of them could actually get seriously injured (DD1 pushing DD2 while standing on our stone staircase, or DD3 getting her arm out of the carseat harness) so that the effect isn't diminished. You could try that. If possible, I work up tears. That really gets them. I am slammed with work right now, although I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel after one job has been progressing faster than I had thought it would. I may end up having to turn away jobs starting sometime in November again, though, unless I can wait with the invoice until January. If I make too much with my freelance work it could have big and expensive consequences for some of my social benefits payments. It's not illegal to make more, it would just be very expensive and I would end up having to pay more than the additional money I earned, so it's not worth it.

Oh, and count me in the still-not-STTN club. We're up 1 time on a good night and 3 on a bad (not including sick nights, then there is no maximum amount...).

S's birthday party is tomorrow. I went and ran errands, because H said he'd prefer to stay home and clean. I was gone for 5 hours, and only the living room has been touched. And it's not even completely done. I'm pissed. I got home and he was sitting on the couch watching a movie. I sat down and had a bagel (first thing I've eaten all day) and now I'm going to get up and clean, apparently. I'm putting away groceries and he goes "we should clean the stairs off... And probably scrub the bathrooms... I wasn't sure what to do with some of this stuff, so I just left it here". I still have to make cupcakes after we finish cleaning.

lollipop I’d be pissed. Dh stayed home today while I went to work and took the girls with me and he actually got a decent amount done. Very few of the more ambiguous projects were completed, but those are next. I in the other hand got nothing done bc we went out to lunch and to Crayola experience with the littles. It was fun but I am completely exhausted and my to do list just keeps growing.

Oh and we told dhs parents about baby #4. It was a total non reaction. Like none. “That’s nice honey. How was your night? Did you have pizza for dinner?” W.T.F. My parents better have a better reaction tomorrow. I’ve decided my extended family will find out when they see me in a few weeks. I’m done hiding it, but I’m not running around announcing it either. I do kind of wish our next gtg wasn’t my nieces bday, but...shrug?

Today was hellish. I fit in a couch to 5k workout this morning and I've been running ever since. It's my flex day off but I worked at least 4 hours today, helped H with a project for school, volunteered for an hour at DS's school, hit Target, Walmart, doing laundry and dishes. I want to collapse.
And to top of my day my mom came over to let me know in person that the aortic aneurysm my dad has (they have been watching it closely for about 10 years) suddenly grew past the size that is safe and they are recommending surgery asap. Just trying not to freak out over this.

lollipop, big side-eye to your DH with the not helping. dizzycooks, I'm sorry your ILs were so unenthusiastic. I think it's normal that reactions get less exuberant the more kids you have, but still. It's another kid, an independent being who deserves to be celebrated just as much as his/her biggest sister was. scorpioscuba, dang, woman. Collapse away! I would too, after that day, and I really hope your dad's surgery goes smoothly. Saturdays are usually my morning to sleep in (DH gets Sundays), but I have so much freelance work that I've had to work the past 2 Saturdays so haven't wanted to really sleep in. Tomorrow are Germany's national elections, and as a city official DH will be working at a polling station, so I'll have the kiddos. I'm hoping we can get some cleaning done because Sunday I absolutely do not work on work stuff, but when I'm by myself trying to get them to clean it's often an exercise in futility. Get one corner cleaned up, turn around and they've made a mess in the next corner.

crimsonandclover cleaning! Omg. I feel like I do chores about 75% and then I don’t get to finish. Everything is sort of done. Then I start over bc it’s a mess. I don’t know when my house was last completely clean. I’m starting to accept that will be the norm for the next ten years. scorpioscuba days of are great, but I think it’s a myth that they are relaxing. Sometimes I think my daily normal is more relaxing than a day off bc at least everyone knows what to do and expect and I’ve paved out what we can handle. Today we are visiting my dad, attending a baby shower and I am volunteering at church. The day has barely started and I’m tired. Dh is probably going out for dinner with a friend tonight so I’m hoping to put the girls to bed and work on some of my projects.

I had a dream that S had lice and woke I up with my skin crawling. *shudder
I still have to finish cleaning the downstairs and decorate cupcakes and blow up balloons and decorate the living room for S's party. At least the living room and playroom got finished yesterday. My mom is awesome and is going to come early and help
