snowmoon people definitely skip and just get the AS. Can you be sent elsewhere? That's so long to wait. I could, but I don't really want to have to travel. I don't really feel bothered to wait.

snowmoon, I would travel for it. I know there are people who disagree (and you may be one of them them, and that's OK), but I am firmly of the belief that the NT scan is really important. I think its important for there to be a conversation on why, since these are often shitty worst case scenarios and I know nobody wants to hear about those. Its personal to me, because I've experienced early pregnancy loss and complication and early prenatal monitoring has helped my doctors take the best care of me. But I've also known on the boards over the years people who diagnosed serious complications during the NT scan (like twins sharing a placenta, congenital heart defects or amniotic band syndrome), and the extra time they were given to address these issues vs. waiting for the 20 week scan was crucial in getting the best care for baby. The prime reason most people have against the NT scan is that they wouldn't choose abortion in a case of a chromosomal abnormality, like Down Syndrome or Trisomy 18. That line of thought goes, well why bother testing then? But many women do choose to terminate pregnancies that wouldn't otherwise go to term or result in a severe birth defect or disability, and in many states, waiting until the 20 week anatomy scan removes a woman's ability to make that choice. None of us ever want to envision ourselves being so unlucky to be faced with these decisions, or making them at all, but I am of the mindset that no matter what each of us would personally choose, its important to have all the information so that choice is the most informed one possible, and one that is fully within our control. Anyway just my two cents. Sorry for the soapbox.

sunshinedaisies, I feel you on the weight thing. I am eating everything in sight and know I'm gaining way too rapidly. But I did this last time too and then once I hit the second tri it really dropped off until the end. I just tend to pack the pounds on early. I still gained more than they wanted by the end (50lbs) but then I lost 30lbs immediately after giving birth (which is I think twice what they tell you to expect) so some people just gain differently. It doesn't necessarily mean anything for afterwards.

polson Does the high risk designation mean they track you more closely? Maybe this will end up being a good thing and allow you to hear that beautiful heartbeat more often. it sounds like they will be doing more monitoring than usual. dd was small for gestational age which they think had to do with they pre-e/hypertension so they want to do growth scans as i get further along. i guess getting to see baby more than i would normally is the silver lining, i'm just really hoping i don't get stuck with that diagnosis again.
