So like 3 months passed in that episode, right? I feel like I just watched the highlights reel from an entire season. Except Cersei's hair, which is still at <3 months growth from the shearing. I'm a pro at growing hair out from bald. I'm okay with all the time travel. DNW to spend 2 episodes getting people where they need to be, but at least acknowledge it or let the same amount of time pass for everyone. The lack of meaningful seasons for context also is a pain. Her hair is a deliberate choice. Her maid also had the haircut - Cersei's style is the new rage!

Remind me of this please. "Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark. Your faithful sister, Sansa" Boom. Okay - so the existence of this letter means what for Sansa and Littlefinger, I wonder? I'm tired and can't put the pieces together.

joy, on the one hand, he could be trying to make sure no one else in the North sees it because they may try to unseat Sansa. But I think he is trying to drive a wedge between her and Arya.

Ugh, that letter better backfire. Arya getting manipulated by him would piss me off.
Clearly Sansa was being held by the Lannisters at the time. Be reasonable Arya!

The plan to get one of the undead is pretty stupid. Also a huge waste of time. Jon keeps saying they're coming but wants to make the long ass journey from Dragonstone to Eastwatch to say hi to the NK and then all the way back South to show Cersei? Cersei is expecting to die, why would she care at all? Everyone can die with her.
Unless she is actually pregnant so has a 'future' to think about to some degree.

Also one of Jons team ends up trotting away on a horse in the trailer. Whose horse? Does Uncle Benjen make an appearance? The undead general guys ride dead horses (I believe) so I don't think it's one of theirs.

Arya can't seriously be played by that letter right? I mean she was in King's Landing. She knows Cersai is evil. I hope she is on to LF and puts a dagger through his dumb face.

I hope Arya's playing LF, but we've seen her be really stupid before so idk. It'd be nice if her and Sansa we're putting on an act and they get LF in the end.

-+1 to not understanding this plan to bring a white south. What do they expect to do with a creepy murderous zombie on the way? Handcuff it? Why couldn't Drogon just fly up there and grab a few and take them back?
-I was yelling at Sam to STFU and listen! I hope Gilly took that book with them.
-I don't mind the time travel too much but this episode felt like they rushed through important things.. how did Tyrion find Brann so fast? I would have liked to see more of Jaime and Tyrion.
-I don't remember if it was brought up here or in a podcast, but why hasn't anyone asked Jon how he got out of the Nights Watch? Like when he met Jorah and said he served with his father I was expecting him to ask how he got out of his vows. Especially with them just talking about the stabbed through the heart comment.
-I'm not sure how I feel about the pregnancy but if she's faking it to keep Jaime on her side, I can see that being the thing that finally breaks him.

goldenlove the time travel is almost a necessity at this point because they spent so much time dragging stuff out and there's only 8 episodes left for the entire series. It's a bummer.

I think Arya and Sansa are playing him. He is the reason all this shit started in the first place. Sansa said herself they had to be smarter than their father and Rob. I think she has learned shit the hard way, and I could see it all being an act to catch him and kill him once and for all.
I mean, LF can fuck with a lot people, but he sure as shit can't fuck with Arya, an assassin who can assume the identities of others, Bran, the three-eyed raven who can see everything, and Sansa, someone who has been through a lot of shit and seen some bad shit and actually learned how to be more cunning to save your own ass and keep your family together.

I think Arya is feeling a little too high and mighty on herself at the moment and is definitely getting played by Littlefinger. So Bran just really needs to tell everyone all his secrets.

Talk about no one asking Jon how he got from the Night's Watch - I mean they killed him so I think his vows ended there? The people that were at the wall know that.
I didn't like how Dany didn't question it more why the dragon was that taken with Jon?
When Ser Jorah pops up and you ask him about a cure, what did they do? Who? I am surprised none of that came up.
Then Jon could have been like, "I know Sam." etc
I am kind of surprised how Sam left. I thought he would find something and then leave.
I knew Jamie would not be captured cause that would spread shit out. I do think Cersei is faking it and when Jamie finds out that she did that to manipulate him that will be what takes him over the edge.

I'm really hoping Jon almost gets his ass kicked in battle (again) and Dany flies in on Drogon to burn them down somehow. Jon is great at getting surrounded and almost losing. And while I love the breakfast club fight club circle of friendship ed Sheeran fanclube, holy shit they'll get their ass kicked by the white walkers.

Where is Sam going? Is he going back to his home and will he become the lord or king of his house?

Where is Sam going? Is he going back to his home and will he become the lord or king of his house? He doesn't know his dad and brother are dead yet, so I can't imagine he would head home assuming his dad is there after what happened last time. My thought is he's headed back to Jon, but I can't remember if he knows he's no longer at the Wall or not.

So Sam's going to be Lord Tarly now right? Unless something changed when he left for the Citadel that I'm not aware of, he can't be Lord because of his Nights Watch vows.

I was half lounging on the couch when Gilly started reading and I have never sat upright so fast in my life. H and BIL haven't read the books and I'm like "DON'T YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?!" I'm almost as excited for that tiny bit of dialog as I was for Jon petting Drogo or GENDRY. (Seriously, so happy to see Gendry!!!) I was so excited!!! MH has a hard time remembering all the details so I was practically bouncing up and down on the couch and MH didn't understand a thing I was trying to explain to him about what it meant!!

Thoughts on it being made of dragon glass? It definitely looked like cast iron. I was thinking it would be perfect if they could replace the head with dragon glass, though. I loved the meeting between Gendry and Jon, especially when Gendry was just like, "fuck it, I'm just going to out myself to Jon right away, one bastard to another."

Do people at Winterfell even know? Sansa? The very first time we even see Ned (and Jon?) are when he has to chop off the dudes head for deserting the night's watch so it seems like people should know that these vows are serious. +1 about Sam too. I totally expected them to talk about the cure more.

goldenlove the time travel is almost a necessity at this point because they spent so much time dragging stuff out and there's only 8 episodes left for the entire series. It's a bummer. But it was a decision on the writers'/showrunners' part to speed the narrative up and have the last 2 seasons be abbreviated. This is the first season where they have been completely unencumbered/supported by Martin's books, and the result has been that a lot of the show's depth and complexity has been tossed. They're knocking out quick, easy wins in the story line to get to the end. Which to some extent I understand, but it's hella annoying to literally have several months pass in an hour-long episode with no nods or explanations to the fact that they're in a time warp. Meh. On the other hand, waiting a geological epoch for GRRM to cut to the chase gets old too.

Not related to this episode, but just wanting to add that as a non book reader, when Sam was first introduced, I thought for sure he was dead within the next few episodes, or within a season or two. I'm so pleasantly surprised he has lasted this long. He was so likeable and the first person that was nice to Jon, I thought he was gonna be a goner right away. So yay for Sam turning out to be such a long running character and a hero in many ways. It seems like even if he dies, it will be a great death and a sorrowful one. I'm glad he wasn't just the token wimpy friend for Jon.
Just my random two cents.
Edited for crazy typos

I am fine with the fast pace, as much as I have loved and enjoyed watching this show, sometimes it felt like it took forever for something big to happen. Not being tethered to the books was the best thing to happen to this show. It's much more entertaining to watch from my perspective.

Are there really only two episodes left?! How? It went way too fast. The upside is I think that one of the episodes is 90 minutes long. Not sure if it is next week or the finale.
