The NY Times review of the episode sees resentment in Sansa's face while she's watching Arya with Brienne. I didn't see it that way. I thought Sansa was just realizing how capable Arya is as a fighter. What do you all think? Does Sansa resent Arya or what? I thought that too. I feel like Sansa is realizing she doesn't seem to have a skill set. She's still just the younger sister. Jon is the king and leader, Arya has become some badass fighter, Bran is some fucking raven thing. What is Sansa? Who is she? What does she do? What is she good at?

Maybe this plays into the quote from the trailer? If they try to go it alone the 'lone wolf' dies, if they stick together as a pack they survive.

Theory re: the bolded - Jon will ride Rhaegal since he is Rhaegar's son. Tyrion will ride Viserion since if he IS a Targaryen, he'd be Dany's brother. (Based on the theory the Mad King Aerys was obsessed with Joanna Lannister.) My mind is blown. I didn't even know Tyrion could possibly be a Targaryen. This has probably come up before and I forgot. I haven't read a well thought out theory but to me Tyrion is a Targaryen and going to be a dragon rider. For one, Jon, Dani and Tyrion's moms all died during childbirth. I think this is the real reason Tywin hated Tyrion. In the first book he told Jon that since he's a dwarf he was always looked at like a bastard. And Jon says yes but you are the legitimate son of tywin lannister and Tyrion said something like ya? My father isn't so sure. I also think this is why the first time Tyrion went to the dragons they didn't just eat him. I'm obsessed with Tyrion is a Targaryen theory. Also hi! Just sort of jumping in here.

One, his fascination with dragons. The fact that they didn't eat him or flame him alive when Dany was gone and he took their chains off.
His father saying "you're no son of mine" and calling him "ill-made" I just feel like there was more to that than just him being a dwarf.
His appearance (more accurately described in the book) actually puts him closer to being a Targaryen rather than a Lannister.

Is it normal to have to hit play on every single one of these to have it open up in a separate window? Because I gave up after about 4. I thought gifs played automatically?

Okay, but I think you mean book fan service, or show mega fan service. Which, yes you're right. But most of us are not that. Do you really remember every single call-back without needing a reminder? Because if so I need you to message me alerts in real time. Like old Pop-Up Video style. I don't recall everything, but 1) I think to some degree it would be impossible to tell the story without expecting viewers to remember at least some degree of semi-obscure characters and details from seasons ago, without having to spend a lot of time reminding viewers, and 2) fan service is just the expectation in the world of geek media. I do like that I get little rewards for reading the books or watching the show multiple times through. Fair enough. But you didn't answer my request for notifications. LMK.

I think there is something important about this distinction though. Sansa is the only true, living Stark left. Jon has been resurrected, Arya is no one, Bran is the 3 eyed raven. I don't know what that means for Sansa yet, but I believe there is something there.

I love this theory, but I have so many questions. Mainly, isn't Tywin Lannister cold-blooded enough to on-the-record denounce Tyrion's parentage? Feels like he had many chances to defame him. Also, while this would be really fun to see play out, it would have to happen really fast given the amount of show left. They'd need to start revealing that shit soon!

I think Tywin super duper loved his wife. I don't think he would have wanted to impugn her to bring Tyrion down. Not sure if I am all in on this "tywin is a targ" stuff, just wanted to respond to that point. Also, very much hoping tyrion and Jamie get a scene/some scenes together. Tyrion needs more to do than be bad at helping dany, and on the Jamie side of the house, I could see a chat with tyrion combined with lady olenna's dying rant really helping to bring his arc to a close.

I feel the reason Tywin didn't reveal it is because it would make him, and his family, look bad. He was always so big on saving face. So, he just let it go and treated Tyrion like shit his whole life and put him in almost-impossible situations with the odds always stacked against him, hoping he would die.
And yes, if this does play out in the show, I hope it does soon because time is of the essence here.

^^because Jon doesn't really want to be a leader and also because I kind of think he'll die (permanently) in the final battle against the night king.

the after show thing they are saying that Arya and Brienne scene sets up storylines in where Sansa is realizing what Arya has become and what she has been up to. I was so confused why no one was like "Arya, what have you been up to this whole time?" It would be question 2 after "are you okay?" if I was Sansa. I wouldn't think are you ok? Bitch, I am standing here?

Bitch, I am standing here? They had an exchange where basically Sansa was like, "Shit went down and I don't want to talk about it" and Arya was like, "Me neither." I think that's about as deep as they're going to go at this point. I imagine "okay" in the Stark family is not being dead at this point...

Meh - it's just an obvious question that everyone is avoiding. You all have been separated a long time - it's a natural question. It becomes yet again a relevant question when Arya takes on Brienne and does so well. But no one asks - doesn't make for good drama so it's kept mysterious. That's my only point.

It would just be a waste of time if, every time two characters reconnect this season, they go on a long spiel about what has happened to them the past 6 years. The audience already knows, so no point in wasting screen time rehashing it.

I get that Littlefinger is an important ally but Sansa needs to start avoiding him. It's so weird. He basically sold her to Ramsey knowing full well what a monster he was. It it's cool, just let him follow you around every where Sansa.
