Tyrion watching it all play out like that....holy crap. You could see how much it bothered him. What an intense episode!!! And how much he loves his brother. Hello conflicted feelings

Should I know who the dagger belonged to?
I couldn't remember if that had been explained in the show and I forgot or if it'll be significant down the road.

I'm not interested in Bronn redeeming himself.
Never change Bronn!

Right? It doesn't make any sense. If Bronn really wanted his fucking castle, he would have bailed and told Team Khaleesi all about the fucking scorpions, not shot a massive ballista at her. I mean, it would still probably have been too late for him anyhow, but I'm disappointed in how dumb Bronn's gotten. I can't remember right now if I'm just thinking of book-Bronn, who is very clear about how he is a mercenary and does not really do the "loyalty for loyalty's sake" thing that nobles do. He goes where the money is. Was he not like that in the show, too? This loyalty to Jaime in the face of insurmountable odds just seems very anti-merc to me.

Did we see Sam's dad die? I assume he's gone.
Wait, if Dad and Dickon are gone, would Sam be the heir if not for his NW vows?

Also, I know we have some back story on the night king. But it seems odd that the children of the forest have been fighting him for thousands of years.
Did I miss something?
Also, "who taught you to fight like that?"
"No one"

It was kind of explained by Sansa if you have an amazing memory for detail. The dagger is Valyrian steel, meaning it can kill the white walkers. Way back in season 1, after Jaime pushed Bran out the window and he survived, the Lannisters sent an assassin to kill Bran with that dagger. Littlefinger gave the dagger to Catelyn and told her it belongs to Tyrion, which is why she took him hostage.

Holy shit. Both H and I were on the edge of the couch the whole battle scene and so excited that Arya finally made it to Winterfell.

Also, "who taught you to fight like that?" "No one" The white walkers were last seen so long ago that everyone now assumes they are a legend, not real. There is precedent for them being ancient in the lore. If you want the lore from the books, can't recall if it's been said in the show: The Children of the Forest are responsible for the creation of the white walkers. They made them to protect themselves against humans. There was the "War for the Dawn" and the Children of the Forest fought the white walkers back into the Land of Always Winter.

I just thought it was weird that when they were talking about it, Bran said "somebody rich" wanted me killed. Don't they all know it was Jamie and Cersei? That conversation confused me and made me unsure if there was more to it that I had forgotten.

Is it bad I really want Jaime to be dead? I know he's not. He'll end up back in King's Landing. And at the same time I hope he doesn't see Tyrion. Cersei always said Tryion wanted the family dead (at least I think?). It would add more fuel to their side of the war.

I hated having to root against Bronn but I did not want a dragon to go down already. Me too. I've become way too invested in these dragons and their well being.

Not sure if that was the story on the show, but was in the books. Yeah, in the books it was very clear that it did not belong to Tyrion at all. It was always Littlefinger's, and he lost it in a bet to Robert. Jaime tells her about it when he's her prisoner.

They assume it was Jaime and Cersei, but when he's being held captive he tells Catelyn that he pushed Bran out the window but had nothing to do with his assassination. In the books, it's never fully confirmed but Jaime and Tyrion both decide on their own that Joffrey was behind it.

Sam has already broken his NW vows, but now he has his vows to the Citadel so he can't be heir. I guess it would be his sister or his (not actual) son. The latter is a complicated notion because in the books, it's not Gilly's son he took with him, it's Mance Rayder's. I don't recall seeing Randyll (Sam's dad) in the battle scene. Was he maybe escorting the gold? Thus, not at the scene of battle?ETA: No. He was not with the gold. He was there. IGNORE ME.

I didn't like Dany or Sansa in this episode. Why not? I root for Dany's side, I'm just kind of over her in general. Sansa gave off different vibes and I had a hard time reading how she was feeling. She likes the power but is pretending she doesn't? I also think so much is happening so fast. It's just a lot to process and slightly rushed so idk how to feel lol.

I told DH he's no longer allowed to talk about "well in the books" during the show or I will murder him in his sleep. I can't keep it all separate and keep it all straight. Idgaf if she has 5000 unsullied in the show but 20000 in the book. It. Does. Not. Mattter.

He proved the white walkers exist! He made a good point about the northern men and wildlings not following her! And still, she insists she has to be queen of everything. How Jon's eyes are not rolling out of his head is anyone's guess. His furrowed brow must be keeping them in. I got the sense that Sansa realized in this episode that there is a lot she doesn't know. She was feeling very high and mighty there for half a second about being a good ruler and learning from Cersei, then her siblings all showed up. I hope she is starting to figure out that Cersei's game is meaningless in the face of the Night King, like Jon keeps saying.

Was he maybe escorting the gold? Thus, not at the scene of battle? He was there. Pretty sure I saw his bald head on fire. Turns out this is that same conversation I missed about the gold. Randyll was definitely at the battle, yes, because he's the one who said the gold was through the gates at King's Landing. Can't find anything online that confirms he was killed in battle, though. Never watching it live again, because MH asks a bajillion questions and I miss things. I shall go back to watching it at 8 am on Monday morning when I am the only one in my house.

And one of her newly-found siblings is clairvoyant and the other is a menace with a sword. And all she's picked up is Petyr's sneaky ass.

The gold got to kings landing they said I missed that. MH is watching with me and asked me something just as this scene started, so this makes sense. I heard "King's Landing" but not what was said right before. Divorce.
