The way that Vinny and Amber drop babe/baby into every other sentence is so reminiscent of Michael Scott and Jan that all of their interactions just seem farcical to me. I hadn't noticed it until the most recent episode and then I couldn't stop hearing it. It reminds me of this Tik Tok - BABE. How is everyone feeling about the three teams and their alliance and the constant working together? I'm fascinated by it. It's so rare to see that kind of strategy in Amazing Race (besides the strategy related to completing legs/tasks quickly). The fact that Amber waited for the other teams and wouldn't leave the task was crazy. But there is absolutely a value in bringing along weaker teams so that, as a group, you eliminate stronger teams and the remaining ones are easier to beat in the end. The mom is weak in tasks, but they are great at navigating. So they could leave the other teams in the dust anytime they wanted to. But I can't stand Amber and Vinny. I really wish that the girlfriends were in the alliance instead of them.

Is there any plan for them to leave South America? I'm amazed at how long they're staying there. It's giving the Spanish speakers a real advantage. They also seem like they're back to covid practices of flying in the AR jet*, starting each leg in groups according to finishing place (instead of finishing time), and self-driving. I wonder why they've gone back to that.
*Maybe they're just driving, not using the AR jet, but we're not seeing any airports.

I know that we all rely heavily on Google maps and the like now, but if you know you are going to be on the show, don't you maybe pick up a real map and practice a bit? Are they allowed to bring a compass? I know they are in a race, but maybe pull out your map and figure out where you are going BEFORE you jump in the car and just start driving, you know.

I get that, but I just feel like you should have yo do your own challenge. Like standing on the side directing them is one this, physically doing it for them seems like a loop hole that I don't like.

I wonder why the aired them out of order. It had something to do with them getting the 1.5 hour time slot - this season was already edited for 1 hour episodes, so they had to go back and completely re-edit them to fit the longer format. (I read about it, but I don't remember the specific details.)

I’m not loving this season because they’ve spent so many legs in very similar locations and haven’t shown any of the travel

I totally agree that the level of teamwork between that 3 team alliance is unprecedented for the Amazing Race. It'll be interesting to see that play out. The fact that Danny is participating in it makes me think it might be a strategically genius choice.
I thought the Mega Leg was underwhelming. It was all in the same location, which usually means there's no real way for the order of the teams to switch around in any dramatic fashion because it's just local navigation rather than into a second city or country in one leg.

I think the whole season is somewhat underwhelming and now I realize it is because of the whole covid thing. It makes more sense. It just isn't as exciting when they don't have the airport/flight challenges, and I think the fact that like half of them speak fluent spanish ruins it.

But I agree that Spanish has to be a huge benefit in terms of directions and navigation, and it's likely on the cutting room floor.

I was honestly so grossed out by the way Vinny was talking to Amber in the previous episode that I don't even want to watch the rest of the season as long as they are still in the game. He's a walking red flag. If he's willing to speak to her like that knowing he's going to be on national television, how is he speaking to her in private.

Danny came out last week and said the crew never showed up, that what was shown in the show was another tram's crew just pretending to be their crew. I get that teams need to follow the rules and wait for their crew, but if the crew never shows up when they also know where to go is really odd.

Since this season was filmed so long ago, I hope that Vinny has has a CTJ with himself.

They should have had their phones and google to help them get there too—MH hypothesized that they stopped to eat.

I have such a love/hate relationship with the end-game of this season all because of Vinny and Amber. I have really grown to like every other team and when they come on the screen I am just so uncomfortable. I hate that his narcissistic attitude keeps getting validated by successfully getting through challenges when he does something dickish (several things on tonight's episode) or by being right when Amber questions him. They are not entertaining or fun to watch at all for me.

I hate Vinny so much. I was cheering for them to leave. I'm so sad I have to keep watching his stupid face. They way he was climbing those trees! Such an idiot.

I really really wanted Vinny out this week and I hate that they were so close to losing. They really have to go out next week. The contrast between them and other couples in how they handle stress (even when they’re being snippy with each other) is so striking. Uncomfortable is totally the right word for how I feel when I see them.

One thing that has been super refreshing this season - apart from V&A - is how kind all of the pairs are within themselves. Like, yes, some brief frustration, but mostly they treat each other so respectfully and play on each others' strengths. Ricky and Cesar are like the definition of couple goals in how supportive and complementary they are of each other.

I also absolutely ADORE how Rod and Leticia treat each other. They are like #1 hype for each other at all times and so silly and funny. I don't usually root for a pro athlete but love seeing them succeed.

I always roll my eyes when professional athletes make it onto the show (expect the Harlem Globetrotters from a while back...I liked them a lot). But seeing how Rod is a confident and competitive but friendly guy who roots for his wife is really fun to watch. I loved his attempt at baseball while his wife just sat back and smirked.

I think that is one of the reasons that watching how Amber and Vinny interact is so jarring. I can't remember what episode it was, but I loved that Ricky and Cesar were talking about how much they were learning about each other and themselves and how to communicate, and then there's Vinny screaming at Amber about how she can't read a map.
