Macron going all in on Ukraine.
Also saw that Russia is moving some nuclear weapons into Belarus. Neat.

On the one hand, good because nothing the GQP would pass is a good idea. On the other hand, it's infuriating how dysfunctional everything is. Also, how long before the articles about how this is bad for the Democrats?

This made me laugh. The fire was on a nearby road and the LM was not affected.

Minneapolis passed ordinances raising wages and other benefits for rideshare programs and now Uber has decided to pull out of the entire Twin Cities area and Lyft announced they are pulling out of Minneapolis. We will be the only major city/metro area without Uber in the US. So that's...fun. Gotta love corporate greed.

I did read in the article that there were some start ups that were working with the city, I guess.

blurnette989 I just googled and Bolt isn't in the US at all. I know there are other smaller rideshare programs here that I've seen but nothing near enough to absorb what Uber/Lyft were doing around town. It will be interesting to see if Minneapolis changes their tune. They have until May 1 to alter the ordinances. I mean, I don't want them to, because fuck Uber and Lyft for being assholes to their workers, but yeah. It would be a huge hit.

willow oh interesting! Maybe this is why I know them as having better labor practices, because they exist in places with more worker protections. Maybe this could be their in to the US market as they are a larger more established company, at least elsewhere. It'd be nice to see a more favorable ride share company succeed where Uber has a hissy fit.

I haven’t been in one yet and I’m not ready to. They have had some problems and I’m not trusting yet. My friends who live in the city use them pretty frequently though. They are still in the approval process for my county. One awkward situation my friend got into in one is that it stopped at her destination but it literally stopped right at a tent encampment for unhoused people. Like you can’t ask it to move up a hundred feet or what not. So she had to get out of a driverless car all dressed up right at an encampment. Not the most comfortable situation.

I was in PHX over Thanksgiving and a Waymo almost hit me. I was making a left turn, and it made a left turn onto the street I was turning off of. Lucky it was late, and the roads were empty, so I was able to just stop in the middle of the road and let it complete it's turn. My cousin and her wife use them all the time and have never had an issue.

Considering he was pro January 6th murdering of Pence on live tv, I would fucking hope he wouldn't endorse him. I mean, it's a given, right?

Yeah, I don’t like that. I’m going to wait.

What is going on with SFO/Boeing/United?? Is there sabotage happening by maintenance there?
Also saw that the Boeing whistler blower had said to friends that he wasn’t afraid, but if he was found dead, it wasn’t suicide. So that is yikes.

byjove I looked at photos of both and while not quite twins (age difference shows when you look at photos next to each other) they could definitely pass as family. It's spooky, almost.

Last time we flew, we flew United, and our plane had some weird midair issues. The air to the cabins cut off and it got really hot and smelled like burning plastic. The pilot came on the loud speaker and yelled to the flight attendants to get seated and buckled "immediately". It was nerve wracking. Never did find out what happen. We'll pay a few extra bucks and fly Delta. I always preferred them anyways.
