I’m looking at this from the all their PR fuck ups. It would have been so smart of them to have him be a presence for this video. So many rumors would have been killed. I can think of like 3 of them. To me cancer is a serious family matter. So where is her family? Pippa is out there vacationing. Where has Will been? Throwing his wife under the bus. It’s so absurd that she keeps getting thrown to the wolves. Something smells so off here. Call me crazy but like what? You know I’m with you

I think I'm on the wrong side of Twitter because everyone in my feed is convinced the Kate video is an AI deepfake. It's pretty alarming how deep the distrust of the crown goes now, as well as how quickly people fall for conspiracy theories. My Twitter turned to Kate conspiracies after awhile and I’ve gotten a lot of these tweets too. I don’t think it’s AI. What I did notice though is all the posts saying she’s wearing a repeat sweater from a video from like 2018? And if it’s the same top then WOW she’s lost more weight than I realized because it fits loosely in the new video and comfortably in the old one.

I think she does a lot of Breton stripe tops - the Heads Together sweater was a 3/4 sleeve (yes I Googled to check if my memory was right). So maybe she's like me and has a closet full of almost identical tops 😂

I saw an Instagram post saying the widths of the bench slats were different and it was pretty clear the person who posted it had never heard of perspective. Yes, the side closer to the camera looks a little bigger....

There is no way the same people who did that horrendous Mother’s Day frankenphoto did a convincing deepfake AI video. None.

Yes, the side closer to the camera looks a little bigger.... I saw one that said her ring disappeared and just stop people she put her hand down so of course it’s not as noticeable She was fiddling with her hands a lot and that ring is already top heavy, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was spinning under since she seems to have lost even more weight. Even for peasants, I used to add beads to the inside of a lot of engagement rings to keep them from rolling.

My engagement ring doesn’t but my band for sure twists especially when I drink a lot of water

The clip they showed looked fishy, but they could also be manipulating it One of the comments on what I saw said that it was the video compression causing that but if you go to the full resolution video, the ring is always clear.

I think I saw the same TT and she said she had the same hair - it is obvious that her hair is different. I just eye rolled the video after that

I know we only see the pictures they put out, but they always look so genuinely happy. Like there's no faking it and I love it and love them

Not even clicking because I'm sure it's behind a paywall for me. Care to summarize?

Not that I don’t believe Russia incapable of media shenanigans but the BRF and rota can and did muck this up all on their own.

Not even clicking because I'm sure it's behind a paywall for me. Care to summarize? Martin Innes, an expert on digital disinformation at Cardiff University in Wales, said he and his colleagues tracked 45 social media accounts that posted a spurious claim about Catherine to a Kremlin-linked disinformation network, which has previously spread divisive stories about Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as about France’s support for Ukraine. As in those cases, Professor Innes said, the influence campaign appeared calculated to inflame divisions, deepen a sense of chaos in society, and erode trust in institutions — in this case, the British royal family and the news media. “It provokes an emotional reaction,” he said. “The story was already being framed in conspiracy terms, so you can appeal to those people. And people who support the royal family get angry.” This is a gifted link if anyone wants to read it: www.nytimes.com/2024/03/27/world/europe/princess-kate-middleton-russia-conspiracy.html?unlocked_article_code=1.gE0.v8PI.3XiEp3zUpTCC&smid=url-share

Not that I don’t believe Russia incapable of media shenanigans but the BRF and rota can and did muck this up all on their own. They didn’t help, for sure. I am just passionate about this topic, because I have a family member who works in this field. I’m so worried about the election this year. I understand that no one wants to think they are susceptible to this kind of thing (myself included), but we really are extremely vulnerable. This is what I meant a couple years ago when I talked in this thread a couple years ago about sharing/amplifying of random Twitter accounts. It was taken as anti-Meghan at the time so I dropped it, because my point wasn’t coming across. I really worry about it being 1,000 times worse now with the addition of TikTok and Elon in charge of Twitter.

Bookshelves - ITA we are more vulnerable than we care to think about and not dismissing your POV and experience here in the slightest. Both things - the BRF and the rota being so bad at this and Russian infilitration - can be true.

That's why I don't think they can be let off the hook, it's an "and" not a "or."

It is really scary to me how fast things I have seen things get amplified on social media that are obviously from these kind of sources. I’m talking mainly political, obviously, but I think these topics like the royal family that seem innocuous are going to play a growing part.

Well to be fair, I don't know that in the middle of the noise and then in the wake of her cancer reveal you're going to find that room. That's an after discussion.

True, and social media probably isn’t the space for it either way. I’m not sure what is… is there a lack of spaces for nuanced discussion, or do we just have less bandwidth for them? (I feel like it’s both, for me personally.) Just so much noise and competition for my mental energy.

I agree with STP Yes there are bots and we need to know and be aware and careful with information but the BRF also has their hand in this and they are doing everything they can to blame others instead of owning up to their blunders. There are also very real trolls who feed off of the information given yo them by legit media folks who go to far too This isn’t a me trying to compare thing there were very real media people and Kate fans perpetuating that Meghan was starting the conspiracy theories which we all know is false
