I swear there was a thread dedicated to Formula One, but I can not find it so I figured I'd start a new one.
Anyone watch the new season of Drive to Survive yet?
I'm on episode 3 and I'm completely irritated by Danica Patrick being interviewed. What value does she add? They couldn't find ANY OTHER former drive to give their perspective. She's like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Anyway, what's everyone's predictions for the new season???

There was one, but I also can't find it!
OMG, I groan every time they show her. Why is she there? She adds nothing, and she never worked in F1. At least Claire Williams is relevant to the sport.
I think I'm on episode 4. I'm enjoying it so far.
I predict that Danny Ric will continue to suck, sadly. I'd like to see someone give Max a run for his money. Maybe it's Lando's year? Piastri is promising too. It will be REALLY interesting when Lewis moves to Ferrari, but I know that's not until next season. I love Saintz, so I'll be watching him. It's always interesting how things can change season to season and I'm here for it!

Unfortunately, I agree with your assessment for Dany and watching the episode where they fire Devries and bring Dany in is cringey because it's not like Daniel blew it out of the water the rest of the season.
I want Lando & McLaren to succeed even though I hate Zach Brown. I want some competition for Max, races are too boring when one person is out in the lead ALL.THE.TIME.

It is interesting watching back to 2018/2019 and then googling to see what the teams have been up to since then.

The Guenther book was fantastic. I read the print version and all I could hear in my head as I read was his voice. I was too listen to the audio book at some point too, since he narrated himself.
We're 3 episodes in to DTS. Finding it hard to find time for MH and I to sit down together to watch. I have to agree I don't think DR is the lights out driver they think he is anymore - dude never should have left Red Bull in the first place.
So excited for first quali of the season in a couple hours!

I'm so excited for the first race tomorrow, y'all! I can't wait to see the tone of the season and if anyone can give Max a run for his money.
Anyone have any predictions on what's going to happen with the whole Christian thing?! Other than the Spice girl making him sleep on the couch?

I just figured out I can watch the races on YouTube TV, so I’m excited to actually watch live! Or record live and watch later, lol.

Also I realized I've stopped watching the show because I've been just watching the races. Still follow all the drama! However, I have refrained from checking out the Christian Horner leaks because no thank you to a Racey spice dick pic.

Why do they sometimes push one teammate forward at the expense of the other? Like today they had Yuki back off so Daniel R. Could pass. It also happened on the season I'm watching from 2019 with Daniel when he was with Renault. (I think I'm getting the names right)

It also happened on the season I'm watching from 2019 with Daniel when he was with Renault. (I think I'm getting the names right) strategy for individual points vs. Team/constructor points is a big reason. And also the cars are not necessarily exactly identical I. Performance on a given day. And also different drivers have different strengths and may do better on certain courses over the other. They also are constantly tracking how the car is doing down to each individual piston. It also can be the decision of the team principal. It's just so many potential factors. So who knows?

It also happened on the season I'm watching from 2019 with Daniel when he was with Renault. (I think I'm getting the names right) They had discussed prior to the race that their strategies could/would be different. Ricciardo ended up on soft tyers, while Tsunoda was on hards. They gave Yuki some time to get past KMag, but Yuki wasn't making it happen. With Danny on softer tyers, he theoretically should have better pace at the moment than Yuki, so they swapped cars hoping Danny could get past KMag on the soft tyers. The timing seemed off in this situation because Yuki wasn't very far off KMag, but with the race winding down, if they were going to give Danny a shot, it had to be then. Did you see the bullshit Yuki pulled on the cool down lap? Any sympathy I had for him with the timing of team orders was gone after that. Side note - as an American it drives me crazy to spell tires, tyers. But for some reason it feels wrong to spell it tires when talking about F1.

Yuki comes off as an entitled a-hole. Red Bull won't put up with that much longer and now he's taking out on the golden boy of RB, he'll be out.

I know it's a big jump from F2 to F1 speed, but that was handy that Bearman had been in Jeddah on track all weekend for F2. At least he's only getting used to a different car and not a different car plus a track he hadn't been at recently.

Sargeant had to give up his car to Albon since they didn't have an extra. Williams seems to have had a long streak of bad years - is there ever a case where a team is no longer eligible for F1? Or can they just continue to limp on in the hope that they continue to get sponsors and good drivers to change their circumstances?
Is it largely the same 10 teams (maybe under slightly different names)?

If HAAS has been allowed to continue, I don't see someone with the history Williams has being kicked out. I don't know for sure either way, but I imagine being kicked out isn't really a thing. You either run out of money to keep going or you choose to stop.
I was shocked at the news. It's crazy they didn't bring an extra chassis, especially to a track like Melbourne where incidents are not uncommon.
I do not envy James Vowles; that had to be a horribly difficult call to make. I do not agree with the decision. If they started the weekend with 1 car, of course give it to Albon, but don't take Sargeant's away because Albon crashed his. Regardless of the presumed higher potential for Albon to score points. It's not like Sargeant was dead last in FP2 either.

I realize that Sargeant isn't a great driver, but the disrespect of kicking him out of the race because Alex crashed the car. YIKES.

I realize that Sargeant isn't a great driver, but the disrespect of kicking him out of the race because Alex crashed the car. YIKES. at the same time from a purely analytical standpoint- Albon is less likely to crash again vs Sargeant who has crashed a lot too. Like Albon is the better driver. If you need points he is the better bet.
