jorkzy, re: HR: how did you calculate your max heart rate? Via a field or lab test or are you using a formula (which is less accurate— also, there are several.) Also, how long were you at 159? If it ranged from 98-159, I could see it spiking for a short time while you say, went up a hill, or sped up. What was your average HR during the run? I don’t think the HR was necessarily off. They’re not perfect, but in recent years both Apple and Garmin have gotten pretty damn good, with accuracy near 1% for both. My guess would be that your max heart rate calculation is actually off, or the 159 was for such a short period of time that in the course of the overall run you didn’t perceive it as high exertion. Good points! I was just using 220-age which I know is not super accurate. For me that would be 176. All of the calculated ones end up roughly in the 175-180 range from what I’ve seen. It says my average HR was 150 and according to the graph is looks fairly consistent.

Go all out, be absolutely dead and destroyed at the end. Then plug in your highest heart rate and your watch, peloton, whatever, will spit out your percentages and zones for you. That should be much more accurate. I should honestly redo mine. I just don't want to, lol.

Last day to sleep way in for a while 😭
Did some yoga earlier this afternoon and then a treadmill run this evening 3.5 miles. Hip is still sticky so need to do some stretching and such. We also put away all the Christmas decor today. It’s so boring in here… but clean.

I just realized I haven’t checked in here today. I went to OTF. It was a specialty workout called “strong and steady” and I really liked it.
The cardio portion was a run/row, each block was 350m rowing at push pace then running for distance at diminishing inclines each block. 4 blocks total. I got lots of splats lol.
The floor block was 4 blocks as well, each block was 4 sets of 8-10 of the same exercise (sumo squat to stand, bent over reverse grip rows, single arm split squats, shoulder press) and we did each movement as slowly as possible for those reps. I went heavy and was feeling it!

6 miles with the training group this morning. I ran so hard. I probably shouldn’t have but I somehow caught up to the front of the pack and I felt pretty comfortable for most of it so I just stayed with it.
Tomorrow will be an easy mile or two, not sure if I’ll hit the gym. I need to hit the yoga mat above anything else though!.

After having pretty good sleep this past week, I didn’t sleep great last night and have come to accept that caffeine after 2pm is a no-go for me. So I was dragging most of the day and had a nap that left me feeling even more exhausted.
But I knew a workout would likely help even if I wasn’t feeling it initially and so glad I hopped on the bike for a 30 min Low Impact Ride with Hannah C.
Amazing how much better I feel physically and mentally.
I did a 5-min Post-Ride Stretch with Bradley.

It finally snowed here. An inch. Took the kids to a school event that was supposed to be sledding because normally Wisconsin would have plenty of snow on the ground by now. They ended up having to do bouncy houses instead.
Did a 3 mile run which was a little dicey. I bought myself the Saucony Peregrine Ice+ 3s at the beginning of winter and then it didn’t winter lol. So I took those out again. They are excellent on the snow but because of our milder temps the snow has been in a melt/freeze cycle that left ice that would need microspikes to be safe on. So I ran like a slow little penguin. Didn’t fall though! Finished with Peloton:
10 min ALW 10 min Barre W1D3 Crush Your Core 10 min Shoulder Mobility 10 min Hips Focus Flow

It's been rainy here so yesterday was not a run day. I was able to do 20 min full body with callie. Today was a 5k walk with my run peeps.
I need to meal prep and plan today. I also need to tighten up a bit more with tracking my macros so I can see the results I want. Plan on prepping zach coen's cheeseburger bowl for lunches this week. Dinner tonight is LLM Chicken Marinara
Have a great sunday everyone!

Morning.
30 minute PZ ride with Charlotte Extra 10 ride with Camila 5 minute core with Emma 5 minute stretch with Emma
Probably it for me today. We're driving into the snow to head to Syracuse today. We have our annual summer camp staff party and we've missed it since prepandemic, so we're going. Food will be not great, but it is what it is and I'll be right back on track tomorrow.

Did a 60 min pop run with Susie yesterday and a 5 min stretch. Today I’m going to do an easy 20 min run and some upper body strength, which I have not done in approximately forever.

30 min 2000s run with Alex but I was just there for the music and treated it as an easy run for 4km. I’m starting an official running plan this week, I’m excited to see how it goes!

I did Week 2 Day 1 of the beginning strength program today. It was a 30 minute body strength workout with Matty. I'm liking the program so far, and I hope it helps me to become more consistent in moving my body.

bunnyfungo I'm in Iowa and we would typically have snow by now as well. It's very strange. I'm not complaining though!

My kids are desperate for something they can go sledding on. We're supposed to get a storm this week sometime but it keeps getting pushed back so we won’t hold our breath!

Went to OTF today. It felt like a slog, but I got it done. It was ESP which I liked, but the tread part was just hard for me today. I think I’m sore from yesterday?
Tomorrow will be a rest day!

It rained a lot yesterday but it’s clear (and crisp) today. So I needed to get outside for movement.
30 min music countdown 10-1 outdoor walk with Alex 10 min standing core with RK 30 min legs and shoulders with RK (split day 5) 10 min lower body stretch with Hannah C
The walk is good if you want something with mostly music and not a lot of talking. Although the number 1 song is one that is banned in my house because I find it so annoying and DS was constantly singing it.
Finished my fourth week of RK’s split program. Definitely doing a 5th and maybe a 6th. I’m so shocked I’m not bored of it yet. It’s just that good. I have a couple more moves that I think I can go up in weights if I do 1-2 more weeks so I might just do 6 and then take a break. I moved up to 30 pounds for rows (single arm) and 20 pounds for thrusters this week which felt really good. I’ve moved up in weights on almost all moves since week 1.

I'm in the snow belt in NY where we typically get 100+ inches a year and the three inches we got last night was the most we've had at once so far this season. It's crazy. DD1 is dying to use her new snowboard she got for Christmas. Looks like we're getting a bunch this weekend, finally.

Can’t remember if I checked in yesterday, but I did 9.5 trail miles with the Trail Sisters in the morning.
Today I did a 20 minute low impact lanebreak and 20 minute recovery ride with Olivia, followed by 30 minute intermediate yoga with Ross, focused on hips. This was his most recent, and he was even MORE Ross than usual, if that’s possible? There was a lot of time spent in pigeon, for anyone who needs that.
Back to the office tomorrow.

Our "storm" overnight only dropped about 7 inches total, though it was more than enough for the boys to play (and to get in some cardio shoveling). It'll be in the 40s and rainy Tues and Wed so glad they enjoyed it while it lasts!

A very cold 3.5km today - it’s not supposed to get above freezing for the next few days which is much colder than usual for here (even in the winter). Planning a bundled up rest day tomorrow!
