I'm looking for picture book recommendations for my 2.5 year old! He will finally sit for stories and we love reading to him, however would like to diversify our library (and not read the same book over and over and over and over again as much as DS will let us get away with).
Current favorites are Dragons love Tacos (1 and 2), Nibbles the book monster, and Curious George stories (we have two collections). He also likes When you give a mouse a cookie. He's not into the Pete the Cat ones anymore.
Full disclosure I have not searched to see if there is already a thread like this!

We go to the library once a week and pick 10-12 books.
Sometimes I'll pick a theme and request them ahead of time and just pick up the stack on hold.

I also work at the library, so sometimes I'll end up with a handful set aside by the end of my shift.
I can't stand reading the same books over and over.
I mean, we often have repeats, but I just can't read the same 5 books over and over.
Praise VL for the library.

My kids like Dog's Colorful Day by Emma Dodd. All of the other posts are spot on, and I'd add any of Lucy Cousins, especially Peck, Peck, Peck, Hooray for Fish and Hooray for Birds.
Brian Biggs does an Everything Goes series which has lots of fun cartoony pictures to study.
Jane Cabrera does a lot of songs as picture books (Row, Row, Row Your Boat, Old McDonald) and my son could have listened to those all night.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
There's a series that are kind of based on the song I Know an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly (Snow, various holidays, etc).
At this age before they get too opinionated, I like to pull out all the books that were my favorites as a kid.

Oh we also like Harold and the Purple Crayon.
I actually did that as the theme for my DD's 3rd birthday because her favorite color is purple and she likes the book.
