Anyone seen guesses how long the shutdown will last? A couple of weeks at this point? I guess it depends how long it takes Kevin to start taking negotiations seriously

My DD just got back from her school trip to DC. I’m glad they already went because I imagine most of what they toured will be closed due to the shutdown. I know it’s a first world problem compared to people missing paychecks and other issues, but we paid a good chunk of money for her to go.

She came out of surgery and everything went fine. She may need further operation but as of now, she's still with us

Woe is me with all the other federal employees, but now despite us being working capital and working/getting paid as normal through previous shutdowns, we were just given guidance that we have no idea what our furlough status will be. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Has anyone been watching the NYC/NJ flooding. It’s wild. They said it’s as much rain in 24 hours as they get in 2-3 months. I didn’t even realize there was a potential for this weather.

We're getting a ton where I am in CT, our backyard has (tiny) rivers flowing through it. So far no real flooding threats because we're at a higher altitude than surrounding areas, but our basement has a heretofore unknown crack and we're having to vacuum out the water. So that's fun. 😬😭

It's pretty wild, we got more than 8" in my neighborhood. I walked my kid to school this morning and his pants were completely soaked even with a raincoat, umbrella, etc.

House passed a 45 day CR. Now we wait for the Senate. It has zero Ukraine funding, which the Senate will hate, but I suspect they'd rather keep the government open and extract Ukraine aide from Mccarthy another way. Also 89 Republicans voted against the CR so, if the government DOES shutdown, they don't have any moral highground

It was so disheartening to see a breaking alert during my football game that they pass it so the government wouldn’t shut down at midnight. Our country is so ridiculous
