It's going to snow 2 feet here and my kids' district just called three days of school off in advance. That never happens. Coming off a long holiday weekend together, it's a lot of togetherness. Pray for me. I don't understand weather predictions sometimes. Every article I read says we are getting like 22 inches but my weather app (weather channel) says a max of maybe 8 over the 3 days. So which is it? I want it to be the latter. But yeah, I did a target pick up order just to make sure we are stocked on snacks and stuff and it took 5 hours for them to fulfill it (I've never had it take more than an hour before) and my H is there waiting right now for the pick up and he's already been waiting 20 min and he said the lot is packed with no one moving. So. Fun times. We also have the next 3 days off. Now that I’m a district employee, I’m thrilled! We also have a professional Ed day Monday, so 6 days off for kids! And actually it’s e-learning for the students. I feel terrible for parents of younger kids. Mine are all self-sufficient.

Yeah, the e-learning days for the PreK are basically do a couple things on seesaw. If that. Especially because my daughters regular teacher was on vacation today and tomorrow, so she won't even be available to prep or send stuff for our class. Library is still open. I"m sure we will remain open for all those emergency book needs during a blizzard.

Do you have to work every day the rest of the week? I kinda wish we were getting a decent snow storm. Then DH wouldn’t go to work and DS would get his snow and I’d have my family snuggles up at home. I know, I know.

We don’t have the winds that I think are predicted for the Midwest but it got nasty quick here. The snow started fast and as soon as the freeze hit in late afternoon, it got worse.
It was huge clumps of flakes at times. That’s some of my favorite snow.

I'm so psyched for her! And not gonna lie, kinda psyched she's gonna be my rep now. Woot woot! Also, when we went to vote tonight, N literally ran to the door. Like girl, you aren't old enough to vote yet. We got to the door and she was full on dragging us in the building. Girl just couldn't wait to vote! I'm so proud.

Missouri.... Are you ok? 'State representative Donna Baringer, a Democrat who represents St. Louis, said she decided to sponsor the amendment after police in her district asked for stronger regulations to stop “14-year-olds walking down the middle of the street in the city of St. Louis carrying AR-15s.” With the proposal officially blocked, said 14-year-olds, and kids half their age and younger, “have been emboldened [to carry AR-15s], and they are walking around with them,” she said. Representative Lane Roberts, apparently the only Republican with any sense in the Missouri House of Representatives, had said prior to the vote: “This is about people who don’t have the life experience to make a decision about the consequences of having that gun in their possession. Why is an 8-year-old carrying a sidearm in the street?” www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/02/missouri-republicans-minors-open-carry

Pray for me. We're only getting 3-6" which would never trigger a snow day here, but we are getting like half an inch of ice and 45+mph winds. We're off all week though, so it's moot. Good luck being buried with your kiddos.

Like email sending to anyone I can think of hate this In az you have to always have less than $2k in the bank to qualify for snap. So if a senior gets the average american soc sec which is not enough to live on and happens to have anything in savings or retirement they can't get help with food costs Or a family with kids that gets a large tax refund like from earned income credit they may easily go over $2k in the bank and can lose benefits

UGHHHHHHHH get a text from school district saying check your email, checks email and gets this
According to Ada County Sheriff, Caldwell, Boise, Meridian and Nampa Police Departments, there have been a number of "active shooter" calls reported at several schools and districts throughout the state of Idaho this morning. These calls have been identified as hoaxes. Calls consist of a pre-recorded message from the same phone number claiming there is an active shooter at the school. These same calls have been made in schools outside of the state and have been happening for the past few months.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!?

When I worked in Customer Service in life insurance we always had piles of requests coming in to verify cash values in policies that had to be done for pretty much anyone receiving any government assistance (snap, Medicaid, housing to name a few). Something as simple as $500 in value could cause them to lose benefits.

Yeah I don't think most people really realize the point is to make it difficult/virtually impossible to get the govt assistance. which is cruel.
