But the sad thing is...isn't he? People are finding out but will he face any consequences?

Wow that is a shit show of epic proportions So many people are stranded. I've even seen reports of people having checked in before their flights were canceled yesterday, so their bags were checked and now it's looking like they won't get them back for weeks. Just an epic cluster all around.

I saw a video about it also being because they don't use a hub system, so if one part of the leg is cancelled, it's an epic fuck up from that point.

None of this is making me want to air travel anytime Soon. Between stuff like this and Covid ehhhh. I do want to travel to WA at some point next summer or fall.

My daughter and I are traveling in 2 weeks to visit my sister. And since I bought our tickets in...October? I've had flight schedule changes it seems like every other day. Most times its just a few minutes, but one time it was a 12+ hour change. So annoying.

Just so awful for all of those people stranded. I have never once flown SW and never plan to, mostly because my anxiety cannot handle open seating arrangements. The prospect of fighting for a seat that I want would keep me up at night.

What a complete mess. I hope no one here is/was flying Southwest. We had a 3 hour delay on Allegiant but southwest is usually our go to. It’s so lucky we didn’t book with them yesterday to fly back to the Midwest!

This also makes me think back to this summer when we flew SW, and the flight was canceled, so I was calling while in line to reschedule and on the phone, they said they couldn’t rebook until my checked bags were unchecked….outside of security. It was such a fucking mess that didn’t make sense. But now knowing their system is so outdated….

And it’s really not bad to just pick your own seat. But lord I am glad I’m not traveling right now. I kept entertaining the idea of a quick trip to FL to visit MIL / get some sunshine and warmth but nixed it bc of BabyO and my anxiety around him and illness.

I have claustrophobia and can have a panic attack if I'm not on the aisle.

We got stuck in the Southwest mess and it was a nightmare. I’ve had flight delays and cancellations, but this was on an entirely different level. My kids spent Christmas Eve sleeping in the airport. The worst part was that to get any information or to try and reschedule anything, you had to wait in hours-long lines to talk to a a Southwest agent. Phone lines didn’t work, the app and website didn’t work. So we had no choice but to just wait. And then wait some more. I used to love Southwest, but we’ll never sky them again.

I'm sorry you guys were stuck in the airport on Cristmas Eve! That sucks. I had heard about the inability to do anything online, hours long phone waits and terrible in person lines. My sister flys with them all the time but between the winter storm and then trying to rebook, she's had a total of 10 flights canceled. She was trying to get from LA to CLE. For the most part she got lucky that she only got stranded in an airport once, in Vegas, and her H was able to drive to pick her up. She did sit in a few of the various airports in Los Angeles before getting flights canceled, but at least those were local for her. Her bags ended up at Burbank so she's at least able to pick them up.

We fly out tomorrow for a vacation. Last week, I was complaining to H that I hate Frontier's ridiculous baggage restrictions but now I'm just happy that our flight is still a go and not SW since we're flying out of STL where a lot of the SW cancelations seem to be centered.

I'd like to say I'll never fly SW but we don't have enough options here and I already have flights booked in May. Having that happen with the kids is so anxiety inducing! Hopefully you've had time to relax since then!

Just heads up in case it’s ever a convenient option for you.

Just an epic cluster all around. The daughter of a woman from our church is stranded and they won’t give her bags back… she has a baby and no formula left (it’s all in her checked bags I guess) no carseat, apparently SOL for rentals. Luckily through the power of FB friends of friends were able to get her and her baby out of there and she’s now crashing at their house with a happily fed baby. What a mess

The prospect of fighting for a seat that I want would keep me up at night. It wasn’t great when we flew to Florida in October. Not the worst but not the best. H and DS1 were on the complete other end of the plane with both kindles while I was stuck with the twins and no kindles because we had mistakenly assumed we’d be able to get reasonably close lol The way back I got priority boarding because I had dislocated my shoulder in a sling but we had some other epic screwups care of SW. we unfortunately don’t have many good direct options from our area to FL so idk what we will do next time. My travel agent said what we experienced wasn’t typical but… well… my anxiety needs more certainty I guess lol

We are okay and have made it home now but we still don’t have our luggage.

My travel agent said what we experienced wasn’t typical but… well… my anxiety needs more certainty I guess lol Did you not board during family boarding time? And couldn’t your H just have walked one of the kindles over to you? We boarded with family boarding and the families who got on ahead of us basically spread out and had jackets sitting on seats across the aisle from them claiming rows and seats. We were separated so far that we couldn’t even easily see each other to know where the other was/who had what, and he wasn’t answering texts Because of course. All of our children have special needs so neither of us felt comfortable searching the plane for where the other half of the family was. I’m sure it was at least partially our own fault due to inexperience and anxiety and could have been handled better in our part. But everyone we had talked to said there was zero reason to be concerned about being able to find seats in within the same general vicinity lol It was a hot mess and an overbooked flight, they had to ask people to get off 🫠 In our defense we haven’t flown often as a family and this was our first time flying SW. we typically fly jetblue and always had assigned seats and never had To be overly concerned about whether or not we’d be seated near each other. We also got ditched by our wheelchair assistant on the way back and had to navigate everything on our own so as not to miss our flight. So I’m sure that colors things 😂 It won’t keep me from flying SW but gave me a glimpse of how to better proceed with things in the future lol

I mean just last week United reassigned the seats we chose and put my kid alone three rows ahead of my H and me so it’s not like seats are ever guaranteed.
ETA obviously my H and I just separated and sat with the kid.
I don’t know why I’m caping for SW right now when they’re obviously fucking up, but the seating situation really isn’t a big deal.
