I am SO happy for you, byjove ! How are you doing so far? I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit of a nervous wreck for how this shot will go, but I'm a little over an hour in and no side effects yet. It felt like a painless flu shot going in. I'm stocked up on chicken soup and pedialyte jic.

DS2 spiked a fever again last night. I took him back to the urgent care and they tested him for flu a/b but it was negative and his lungs sounded clear and his ears look good so they just sent us back home 😩 We're going on a week of on and off fever and he was pretty lethargic today. His cough is better but he's still super congested. They acted like they're seeing a lot of kids like this and were pretty nonchalant about it so I'm trying not to be worried
Fortunately DD is doing better and as long as she doesn't spike a fever overnight she'll probably go to school tomorrow

Over 24 hours in and only side effects to report are very minor arm pain which seems to be mostly gone, and a mild headache (which may or may not be related, so who knows). Hooray! If I am still feeling like this tonight, I think I'll be in the clear.

I have my booster scheduled for next Wednesday afternoon. I'm sticking with Pfizer. I was going to get it a few weeks ago but I decided to wait until closer to my surgery date, which is 12/2.

If I am still feeling like this tonight, I think I'll be in the clear. I felt a little off yesterday evening (like face flushy and cold, but no fever) and the headache was still there, but not enough for me to have give up on the day and be in bed. Feeling about normal today. It's kinda hard to believe!

DS2 was doing a little better yesterday, temp was only 99 and he actually sat on the floor and played. Today it's 101.1 again and he's super cranky and congested. This is the 10th day. Everyone has blown us off because it's not a crazy high temp and we're managing at home. Flu was neg and the at home covid was neg. Maybe I should have pushed for PCR? I don't know. I can't even get an appt to see the regular pediatrician. She's usually scheduling over a month out and the sick appts at the practice are full.
Sorry, tl,dr DS2 is on day 10 of fever or elevated temp and I'm at a loss

My kids have thankfully never had RSV so I don't really even know what to look for. Obviously with it flying around so much I need to read up. DS2 caught it when he was 10 days old. His birthday is November 7, so this was all right before Thanksgiving. It was awful. I took him to the pediatrician because he was obviously sick and they said it was just a cold. I didn't know anything about RSV at the time, and looking back am so shocked that the doctor didn't warn me. The next day, I was upstairs putting DS1 down for a nap (they're 17 months apart) and I heard my mom start yelling for me frantically. His lips were starting to turn blue. We rushed him to the closest ER. I had to stand in the hall while the nurses and paramedics took turns trying to get an IV started. I remember standing in the hall sobbing. I couldn't be in the room with him because the room was so small and so many people were working on him. His pulse ox was in the low 80s. They got the IV started and transported him to CHOA in an ambulance and I followed behind. We spent about a week in the ICU. He was breastfed and I would have to try to stay calm, in the hopes that the stress didn't cause any milk supply issues. I remember the nurses coming in and having to use the wall suction to get the mucus out so he could nurse, and he had so many wires and tubes attached to him. He had such a hard time nursing, but he was a tough little guy. He still is. He was born with the cord wrapped around his neck twice, and when they broke my water, so much meconium came out. My midwife told me he probably wouldn't have survived another day in utero. I had known something was wrong for at least a week, but the ob/gyn was dismissive. That's a story for another time. Anyway, when we finally got discharged from the hospital, they told me that he would probably be more susceptible to illnesses, especially anything respiratory. We were back in the hospital on New Year's Eve. My mom was watching the kids while XH and I were at a friend's NYE party. She had to call the ambulance again because he took a turn so quickly. We left the party in a rush and he spent some more time in the hospital. The first two years of his life involved so many doctors visits, breathing treatments, and me being stressed the fuck out about him catching anything. RSV is scary af.

That's so scary LaRo422I asked about RSV and they said it "wasn't a risk for 4 year olds" so they didn't test for it. Ugh

mrsweasley, ugh, I'm sorry he's been so sick and that sucks that you can't even get him in for a sick visit. How do they get so completely booked up?

The pedi only take sick calls day of and LOTS of kids have been sick here, especially the younger set. The preschool had over 15% of the kids out in the morning session. When we went to the urgent care Mon the estimated wait time was 10 hrs 😳 We were seen in about 2 hrs though because their estimator is drunk. I think they saw at least 15 people in those 2 hrs so they were pretty efficient. DD(10) was fortunately only sick for about 3 days and seems fine. She had the same cough as DS2 so I think they had/have the same thing. I've heard anecdotally lots of kids have been sick over a week, but I'm a worrier

Really, I'm just baffled people are still so nonchalant about illness. It's like we've learned nothing from covid. I mean, I'm not shocked, *people* are the worst, but you all get it

And then their non-urgent appointments are only in the middle of the day, which makes it really inconvenient with daycare. Thankfully, we've been able to get in same day most of the time. I hope he feels better soon.

Just one point of caution on this, this "report" happened bc Richard Burr sent a bunch of Republican staffers to "get to the bottom of" the Wuhan leak theory. Not saying that makes it untrue. Just saying "one partisan half of a Senate committee says its fishy" isn't quite the slam dunk Vanity Fair is selling it as
